** Mako going to prison raised a lot of criticism, but when, because of Sienna's backstory, it was implied that Starfleet would undo her redemption and push her [[NiceJobBreakingItHero further than ever into corruption]], Mako was rehabilitated instead.

** Even though the ''WebAnimation/DeathBattle'' between Raven and Twilight Sparkle [[HarsherInHindsight is the opposite of this trope]], the "hilarious" part comes from the fact that, despite [[spoiler:the loss]], Twilight's magical skill is actively on par with Raven's and [[spoiler:the loss happened solely due to [[UnskilledButStrong Twilight being less durable]]]]. In other words, [[spoiler:canon Twilight put up a better fight against canon Raven than against Mykan's Raven]].

** [[https://dakari-king-mykan.deviantart.com/art/MBPSFM-Mega-Mode-477208524 Starfleet's Mega Modes]] gives the ponies additional gold armor on top of their usual uniform. While it mostly looks decent aside from making the ponies look like {{Palette Swap}}s of each other, the gold heavily clashes with the existing color schemes of Starla (pink and purple) and the twins (various shades of brown).

** [[spoiler:Twilight dies and Starfleet has the nerve to blame her for her death because she disobeyed orders. Keep in mind, Twilight disobeyed orders to try and protect her loved ones from Raven, so even if you did consider her actions to be irrational, there would be a good reason for that behavior. So Starfleet, [[DesignatedHero as always]], just come across as assholes who only want that everyone follows what they say]].
** The Crystal Prep Shadowbolts. Unlike their canon counterparts, Crystal Prep is actually on a ''losing'' streak against Canterlot High since they keep getting trounced by the magically-enhanced Starfleet Humans, and by the time of the story, they're so desperate to actually win for once that they've resorted to cheating ([[CheatersNeverProsper which naturally doesn't slow the Starfleet crew down one bit]]). Given that the Starfleet enhancements are worded like [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything they're basically magical performance-enhancing drugs]], it seems less like the Shadowbolts are dirty cheaters and more like they're just trying to get on even ground, since the Starfleet crew are technically cheating as well no matter what the story tries to suggest. It doesn't help that the Starfleet Humans are all [[JerkJock insufferably arrogant]] and love [[UnsportsmanlikeGloating rubbing in their superiority]], making the Shadowbolts' frustration much more understandable and making the reader want to see them take the smug bastards down a couple of pegs.

** Goldwin's a veritable fountain of this regarding [[BecomeARealBoy his desire to become a normal pony]] and to be able to leave the palace grounds. It becomes tiresome rather quickly, especially as [[TrappedByMountainLions it contributes nothing to the main plot]].

* WTHCostumingDepartment: Let's just say it's a wonder [[TheFashionista Rarity]] isn't throwing a fit over these outfits.
** If the Space Ponies' ridiculous bodysuits didn't already fall under this category for looking like cheap Halloween costumes, the fact that they use them for ''casual wear'' definitely does. The Equestrian cast get it worse, as they wear the same bodysuits with two copies of their Cutie Marks mirrored across the chest of the suit, which looks much worse than if they only had the mark on one side. [[https://dakari-king-mykan.deviantart.com/art/MBPSFM-Esroh-Dab-581378475 Thunder Cloud]] is a particularly bad case, since his outfit looks like he's going around shirtless [[GagCensor with thunder clouds covering his nipples]].
** Whatever the hell [[https://dakari-king-mykan.deviantart.com/art/MBPSFM-Grand-Celestial-Ruler-500925199 Grand Celestial Ruler]] is supposed to be wearing. Aside from looking like it was made of parts from three different outfits haphazardly thrown together into one tacky combination, one has to wonder how they fight in that dress without tripping over it.
** [[https://dakari-king-mykan.deviantart.com/art/MBPSFM-Mega-Mode-477208524 Starfleet's Mega Modes]] basically just give them extra bits of gold armor on top of what they're already wearing. It's generally not too bad aside from making them look like {{Palette Swap}}s of each other, but on Starla and the twins, the gold clashes heavily with their existing color schemes.
** [[https://dakari-king-mykan.deviantart.com/art/MBPSFM-Captain-Shaina-477443465 Captain Shaina's]] ketchup, mustard, and peppermint ensemble. She sports bright gold centurion armor over a bright red jumpsuit along with a violet cape, and has a white coat with a green mane and tail. All of the colors are fairly loud and none of them go together particularly well. Plus, in spite of her name (''Emerald'' Shaina), there is only a little green color.

* UnintentionallySympathetic: Anyone who opposes [[DesignatedHero Starfleet]] can be considered this.

** While he never appears in the show proper [[PosthumousCharacter on account of being dead]], Starla's dad has gotten this treatment. While he's supposed to be a ControlFreak, a SuicidalPacifist, a WideEyedIdealist, and a StrawLoser, and is mocked for it, his criticisms of Starfleet as [[FantasticRacism racist]], [[ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption violent]] {{Knight Templar}}s [[StrawmanHasAPoint come off as scathingly accurate]], [[ActualPacifist his devotion to diplomacy and peace makes him look like the]] OnlySaneMan, the ControlFreak aspect is an InformedAttribute at most, the overly idealist trait is the only one of his [[InformedFlaw designated flaws]] that is correct, and the circumstances of his death have led people on Website/ThisVeryWiki to suspect that Grand Ruler [[AlternateCharacterInterpretation sent hitmen disguised as criminals to assassinate him]]. Overall, he comes off as an idealistic OnlySaneMan to many people.

** Brass Bolt also shares this treatment. He's supposed to be seen as wrong for accusing Starfleet of being evil, but the writing never gives a good enough reason as to why the reader should side against him. The closest the story gets is having him release all of the prisoners from one of Starfleet's prisons, which actually makes him ''more'' sympathetic given that Starfleet's treatment of prisoners [[HellholePrison would likely qualify as a gross violation of civil rights (and probably the Geneva Convention as well) in real life]].

** Pony Mykan Stevens is practically made of this trope. He's so adamant about refusing help from Starfleet and driving them away, firmly believing that they don't actually care about him and that they can't understand what he's going through, that it's a wonder the protagonists put up with him at all.

But like the character he's an expy of, Count Logan, it's hard to see him that way, since he comes across as a massive misogynistic jerk who's willing to destroy the world just because he didn't get the love of his life. He is also someone who beats down helpless prisoners for flimsy reasons and blames everyone but himself for his actions, which is usually done by [[HateSink people readers are supposed to hate.]]

* WTHCastingAgency: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cySUCu99sW0 The voice Mykan chose for Rhymey]] is based on an alien version of [[Series/TodaysSpecial Muffy Mouse]], and it sounds too robotic to fit his body ''or'' his species. It gets even worse considering the Mane Six somehow have to mistake him for Fluttershy with that voice.

* DesignatedEvil: Anytime Starfleet's criticized, the critic, usually an Equestrian, is treated as a terrible person for it. However, Starfleet has multiple planets as {{Hellhole Prison}}s, altered multiple entire races' bodies without their consent, has no compunction committing genocide, and even sent one of said dissidents to a Bedlam House - or rather, planet, where he will be drugged and restrained until he loses his sanity, on questionable grounds no less.[[note]]Ace Ray was convicted for beating up his younger sister, but that brings up the question of why beating up someone once warrants a lifetime imprisoned, drugged, and tortured in a [[BedlamHouse Bedlam Planet]], and the way it's worded in both the original and the rewrite, that he had seriously broken the law, allowing Starfleet to stop him, makes it sound as if the heroes were already looking for a reason to arrest him.[[/note]]

** In an actual decent twist, in chapter 20 of the original badfic, we find out that Serpent Tyrant's motive for collecting the Rainbow Stones is to undo the genocide his son Titan had caused. Other than being told the supposed Dimension of Darkness's denizens are evil, there are no indications of them committing great atrocities and we are only seeing things from a certain point of view - [[DesignatedHero The Unicornicopians]]. It's also not hard to see him as a WellIntentionedExtremist.

* AntiClimaxBoss:
** In ''Human in United Equestria'', [[DiscOneFinalBoss Princess Avyanna]], despite being one of the best manipulators in the series, goes down like a punk. She simply gets drugged and answers all the questions of Human Mykan Stevens.

* AntiClimax:

** The end of Season 6, which involves a siege by a horde of escaped prisoners and Celesto and Celestia infighting due to mind control. [[spoiler:The royal couple was only pretending to be brainwashed and lured all monsters into a trap, while the culprit behind the attempt is easily defeated.]]

** Twilight Sparkle protests [[MurderIsTheBestSolution Starfleet killing all of their enemies]], Krysta and Lightning Dawn's argument can be summed up as "[[TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong Starfleet is always right, everyone else is always wrong]]."

** Downplayed in practice compared to the rest, but explicitly stated with Ace Ray. Starfleet couldn't even arrest him until he beat up his own sister, which was his first genuinely evil action.

** Starfleet has not lived down [[spoiler:blaming Twilight for her own death.]]

** Twilight Sparkle protests [[MurderIsTheBestSolution Starfleet killing all of their enemies]], Krysta and Lightning Dawn's argument can be summed up as "[[TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong Starfleet is always right, everyone else is always wrong]]."

** Rainbow Dash gets two of these:
*** In VIII, she points out that it's strange that the militaristic Ainzul would ''[[OOCIsSeriousBusiness literally disband their entire military and replace it with Starfleet's]]'' [[SuicidalPacifism and thinks they're crazy for it]]. She gets shot down by Buddy, who calls her rude, and her concerns are never brought up again, but she does make a good point that [[TooDumbToLive having another nation replace Ainzul's entire military with theirs just because they want to be peaceful now is not a good idea, as such a scenario is ''asking'' for this kind of power to be abused, especially if the other nation's armies are untrustworthy or incompetent]]. Sure enough, just minutes after the exchange, Starfleet accidentally releases the BigBad, invalidates the treaty before it was even signed, and puts all of Ainzul in danger.
*** In IX, [[WhatTheHellHero she and Shining Armor get angry at Agapi]] for [[GrandTheftMe luring Cadance into danger, stealing her body]], kicking the latter out, and leaving poor Cadance at Von Devilor's mercy. Agapi justifies this by [[IDidWhatIHadToDo saying she was too weak to do anything else]], and the whole "leaving Cadance behind" thing is not brought up again, but they did have a point in that [[FridgeLogic leaving her to Devilor's whims likely wasn't really necessary]], [[SymbioticPossession as simply getting in a host's body]] should take less effort than [[GrandTheftMe doing the above]] ''[[GrandTheftMe and]]'' [[GrandTheftMe kicking the host out]]. [[NotHelpingYourCase For comparison]], Stammadon was also greatly weakened after escaping, [[DemonicPossession but he still went with the former in Striker]] instead of kicking Striker out.

* TakeThatScrappy: The entire fic is ''supposed'' to be this towards the entire cast of ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic FiM]]'' based on the fact that its message of friendship "hurt him", which is shown by having them all go through plenty of torment (such as losing their entire planet, being enslaved, or worst case scenario, [[spoiler:the death of friends and family, born or not]]). And as you can tell from the rest of this page and beyond, this didn't work in the slightest, [[UnintentionallySympathetic as all the viewers end up doing is sympathizing with the denizens of former Equestria]] and [[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic despising Starfleet]].

* ItsTheSameSoItSucks:

** Cadance, full stop. The author hates her for being HappilyMarried (whereas [[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003 Beast Boy]] and [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 Davis Motomiya]] didn't [[DidNotGetTheGirl hook up with Terra and Kari Kamiya, respectively]]; yes, really), so he makes her [[spoiler:kill her own brother who's been turned partly mechanical and evil]], suffer horrific nightmares, get beaten up by the AuthorAvatar, get infected by a computer virus as an experiment, and [[spoiler:miscarry when a pillar topples onto her]]. For some reason, [[DoubleStandard even though he's her husband, Shining Armor doesn't get punished nearly as much]]...
*** Despite the "hates Cadance for being HappilyMarried" excuse, other relatively happy couples have shown up (Spike and Rarity, Lightning and Starla, Fluttershy and Rhymey) and haven't been been treated nearly as badly as Cadance has. Make of that what you will.
*** Shockingly, it now turns out that Cadance has been rendered infertile after that pillar thing.....and Shining Armor as well, due to his brainwashing and transformed state. Yes, neither one can ever have a kid now (adopting is out of the question for some reason), and to top it off, he has them keep a nursery in their home as well. Because they cannot bring themselves to get rid of it.
*** The only reason that Cadance hasn't been killed off like [[spoiler:Twilight Sparkle]] is because, in Mykan's eyes, pretty much everyone is expendable, including himself, apparently. He can just kill off anypony he wants, if he ever sees it fit. But Cadance is a special case; he wants her kept alive [[FateWorseThanDeath just so he can punish her]], [[DisproportionateRetribution all for the reason that she's married in canon]].
** Twilight Sparkle is another character that Mykan hates for [[https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/690404/im-true-to-myself-3-rant-why-i-hate-twilight-sparkle utterly ridiculous reasons]]. Shortly after Equestria is introduced in the rewrite, she loses her wings (though at least she gets them back offscreen), the MLP cast as a whole TookALevelInDumbass, she's called out for not following the Grand Ruler's orders no matter what, and of course [[spoiler:she is murdered, which Starfleet and Celestia [[UsefulNotes/VictimBlaming blame her for]] and the latter takes up her mantle as the Element of Magic]].
*** This even extends to ''Starfleet Humans''; despite chronologically taking place before the first ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls Equestria Girls]]'' film, the human Twilight Sparkle is shoehorned in, and contributes nothing to the plot other than getting yelled at by Lightning regularly over petty things.

** Because Cadance is HappilyMarried and [[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans Beast Boy]] and [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 Davis Motomiya]] aren't. [[labelnote:explanation]]Mykan's reason for why he [[ButtMonkey tortures]] Princess Cadance in his fics.[[/labelnote]]

* {{Sequelitis}}: The original story has ten sequels and counting, at least one's a "movie" and a few more are based on WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls, and they don't get any better. [=Beats0me=], a Website/DeviantArt member who draws parody comics of MLU, noted that the beginning of the series is SoBadItsGood, reminiscent of watching a corny old kids' action cartoon. However, the further it goes on, the more racism, sexism, canon-bashing and other disturbing content start cropping up. It doesn't help that, from the third story onward, all of their plots follow ''the exact same formula'', differing only in a few names and details.

* FanNickname:
** "Grand Dumbass" for Grand Ruler due to his incompetence. Also "Triceratops" due to having three horns.
** Thanks to the existence of [[FanFic/StarfleetRedone two]] separate [[Fanfic/StarfleetMagicIsBelieving reconstructions]], some have taken to calling this fic's Lightning Dawn "LD Prime" due to him being the original.

** Goldwin's a veritable fountain of this regarding [[PinocchioSyndrome his desire to become a normal pony]] and to be able to leave the palace grounds. It becomes tiresome rather quickly, especially as [[TrappedByMountainLions it contributes nothing to the main plot]].

** Kitty Snips, a one-shot villain from [[https://www.fimfiction.net/story/378005/24/my-brave-pony-starfleet-magic-season-vi/episode-23-the-ties-that-unbind-us the twenty-third episode of]] Season 6, left enough of an impact on Scipio Smith he decided to [[AscendedExtra include her]] in ''Fanfic/MyBravePonyStarfleetNemesis''.

* TakeThatScrappy: Rhymey is one of the more hated original characters because his personality is mostly [[RhymesOnADime him speaking in nothing but rhymes]], and unfortunately, not good ones. [[note]]The canon character Zecora also speaks in rhyme, but unlike Rhymey, she actually has a personality.[[/note]] An unintentional example happens when he confronts Ace Ray in ''My Brave Pony: Starfleet Magic III'', who is in the process of making [[StrawmanHasAPoint points about Unicornicopia that are more valid than the author realizes]].
