* MemeticMutation: When is Most Wanted 2 coming out?[[labelnote:Explanation]]A sequel has been announced by Pixelberry, only for its release to be notoriously sidelined. It's gone to the point that a new book being released will have some complaints about the staff having forgotten about said sequel (even worse if it's a new book that's not well-received).[[/labelnote]]

The meme died out when Pixelberry announced that Most Wanted 2 has been cancelled.[[/labelnote]]

* MagnificentBastard: Hayley Rose, [[spoiler:nee Tull, who runs circle around the entire police department with none of them the wiser and only got arrested through a very small oversight from her father John]].

After the announcement that the second book is canceled, I think the argument on whether it deserves a second book is pointless.

* BrokenBase: There is a large group of players who have become increasingly frustrated with Pixelberry's excuses to not work on a sequel, believing that they are owed a second book after more than three years have passed. There is another group who believes that the story wasn't that good to begin with, believe it was a poor move to reveal one of the main villains (John Tull) in the very first chapter and make it obvious he was a bad guy, and have stated they will be fine if the story never returns.

** Everything about Bill's death, especially if you buy premium scenes. His dying words (telling Sam he's proud of her) are pretty heart-wrenching too.

** Tull has a weird thing for Sam, including commenting on her chest size, casually implying that he is planning to attempt to rape her, and aggressively hitting on her to her visible disgust every single time they interact. The fact that Bill ended up dead for trying to protect Sam from his perversion adds a whole other layer.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Sam Massey. A sympathetic ActionGirl and a competent cop or a judgmental Jerkass who lets personal issues interfering with her work and doesn't know how to back off? The fact that the player can choose to emphasize either or both of these characterization doesn't help the matter.

Added DiffLines:

* ShipTease: Sam and Dave, to a truly agonizing degree. Probably the worst example is [[spoiler:on the plane towards the end, when they're ''holding hands'' and staring into each other's eyes and everything indicates that they're finally about to share a BigDamnKiss...and then the plane crashes]].
* TearJerker:
** Everything about Bill's death, especially if you buy premium scenes.
** Hayley may be a [[spoiler:murderer, ManipulativeBitch, and overall a pretty terrible person]], but it's hard not to feel sorry for her when [[spoiler:her father gets killed right in front of her. Crosses into JerkassWoobie territory as well]].
** Sam and Dave's farewell, particularly if you ship them.

** Ryan Summers, because of his attractive design and the fact that he and Cassandra often make cameos in other books. It's reached the point that the Ryan/Cassandra CrackPairing has become ''kind of'' AscendedFanon, ''outside'' the book they originally appeared in. [[note]]Other books show that Ryan and Cassandra have been playing lovers, complete with brand-new official art just for their romantic scenes, although their actual offscreen relationship is very much YMMV.[[/note]]
* FanPreferredCouple: Sam/Dave is the most popular couple among the fanbase despite the fact that Sam got 4 romantic options in the game.
