** Lampshaded with the Zulu war segment. The deaths of dozens of soldiers is treated less seriously than a high-ranking officer losing a leg.
** A soldier also notes the double standard regarding killing people:
-->"Here is better than home, eh, sir? I mean, at home if you kill someone they arrest you, here they'll give you a gun and show you what to do, sir. I mean, I killed fifteen of those buggers. Now, at home they'd hang me, here they'll give me a fucking medal, sir."

** When asked the seemingly simple question of whether the baby in the "birth" segment was a boy or a girl, one of the doctors responds by dodging the question and claiming it's "a little early to start imposing roles on it." This might have seemed like a humorously strange response at the time. However, fast forward thirty years as the concept of gender identity becomes more widely accepted, and it becomes more commonly understood that people don't always identify with the gender they were born as. Suddenly that line actually feels a lot more relevant.

** Mr. Creosote serves as this both within and without the film. With the bath tubs of dairy-based vomit FX going off by day three or so of shooting, he even began to affect the filmmakers themselves... In fact, if you look closely after he , you can see several extras throwing up as they leave. ** Some contemporary viewers joke that this film predicted the rise of so-called "SJW's."
*** A man being sentenced to death for making sexist jokes, and executed by being hounded to death by naked women brings to mind a story about a man nearly being lynched because he flashed a Slut Walk.
*** At the end of Birth part 1, the mother asks "Is it a boy or girl?" and the obstercian responds that it's too early to start enforcing gender roles.

I don't think there's nearly enough linking those two to make it this trope.
