** This very question is brought up in the episode. Sharona outright asks Biederbeck how he was able to track down information that no one else had, and he boasts "Sweetheart, I am ''Dale the WHALE!''" Remember that Dale made a good portion of his riches as an InformationBroker extraordinaire--we know that he had dirt on sitting politicians (his EstablishingCharacterMoment is him forcing a congressman to agree to one of his deals in the middle of a committee hearing). So even if [[spoiler: Rickover]] didn't tell Dale, Biederbeck was probably able to piece together what happened via his sources. Plus remember that Biederbeck sued Trudy after she wrote a critical article on him for a newspaper; he probably dug as much into her past as possible then, which [[spoiler: gave him the dirt on Trudy's affair with Rickover.]]

* FridgeLogic: Given the revelations in the series finale, how the hell did Dale know anything about Trudy's death or who was involved? It's highly unlikely [[spoiler: Rickover]] told him.

The death still theoretically exists as of now, but executions have been halted

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The episode presumably takes place in 2004. Since then, the last prisoner to be executed in California was in 2006 and, since 2014, the death penalty has been abolished in the state.
