This usually happens when the girl in question starts to tease him so much that he loses patience and takes action. (Aoi doing foreplay on the bed, Tsukasa taunting him, etc.) Terumi himself holds back on his more wilder side due to fear of driving the girl away. Kaoruko encourages him to build on that trait and make it his defining character. In that manner, girls would then fall for him more easily.
