Renamed one trope.

** Another big point of contention is the music. While many enjoy the remixed music with the distinct [[UsefulNotes/SegaGenesis Genesis]] sound, others find the new music to be grating and unpleasant to listen to.

Nothing to do with “plot”

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: A remake would be the perfect place to restore cut content and rebalance weapons. Unfortunately, aside from Wily Tower and saving there is no new content, and any changes made to weapons has arguably only made things MORE unbalanced.

** While the ports are considered to be very well done, there's some divide between whether they're better than the original NES versions of the games or a step down on both a technical and aesthetic level.

** While the ports are considered to be very well done, there's some divide between whether they're better than the original NES versions of the games or a step down on both a technical and aesthetic level. The character sprite changes have also been one infamous point of contention, since Mega Man and the bosses got redesigns -- and then there's Proto Man / Break Man, who is his NES design with more colors on top, making his head come up to the new Mega Man sprite's chest in a really jarring way.

* GoddamnedBoss: The Yellow Devil from the first game is significantly slower than it was on the NES version, meaning dodging its attacks is a whole lot easier and the only real annoying part of the fight is the short visibility window of its eye and the fact you have to time your attacks carefully. The fight can and will take a while because of it, but you're more likely to survive this time.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The first 3 NES games were ObviousBetas with lots of design flaws and cut content due to time constraints. Keji Infaune has specifically cited 3 as his least favorite mainline game due to how many concepts had to be cut. A remake would be the perfect place to restore this cut content and rebalance the weapons. Unfortunatly, aside from Wily Tower and saving there is no new content, and any changes made to weapons has arguably only made things MORE unbalanced.

* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: For all the technical shortcomings, there's no denying that the new visuals are simply '''gorgeous''', with lovingly detailed sprite work everywhere and lots of added touches (such as a little splash when jumping out of water).

My bad, just remembered that was in Mega Man 2 and Mega Man had the "spam pause to kill enemy" glitch instead

* GoodBadBugs: Though all the fondly-remembered glitches from their NES counterparts were removed, ''this'' game's engine allows you to [[KnockbackEvasion cancel knockback]] by pausing just as you take a hit. It doesn't let you avoid damage like spamming the pause button in ''VideoGame/MegaMan'', but it ''will'' stop that little flying asshole from knocking you off a ledge and into a BottomlessPit, which neuters some of the tricky platforming like that found in Air Man's stage.

These are at odds with each other and the Broken Base entry makes it clear there isn't a consensus anyway.

* PolishedPort: It should go without saying that the new visuals are quite an upgrade over the original NES trilogy, and the addition of a save feature makes them easier to play than ever. The addition of the Wily Tower levels is a nice cherry on top. With that said...
* PortingDisaster: ... the games have noticeably more lag than the original games, throwing off your timing while occasionally making certain areas easier than intended (such as the Yellow Devil boss fight). To say nothing of the tweaks to the controls (see DamnYouMuscleMemory on the main page).
