** Another reason why Cerberus doesn't go all-out to get the SAM-E code, because at the point the book is set (post-Mass Effect 2), the Illusive Man is busy experimenting with Reaper technology, and as such he has no need for technology that forms the basis of a Synthetic-Organic bridge, as he has (or will soon have) a model that is far superior and suitable for the soldiers Shepard will face.
