** The Wet Dreams duology have plenty of moments that paint Larry in a more positive light. Some noteworthy moments include him getting a gay couple back together and even becoming their best man at their wedding, and little instances of his and Pi's chemistry.

* AmericansHateTingle: UK gaming magazines ''despised'' the LSL games, with the Amiga port of the third game notoriously receiving ''9%'' out of 100 from ''Amiga Power''. Presumably this is because [[ValuesDissonance the humor just didn't translate well]].

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Bizarrely, ''Magna Cum Laude'' for it's emphasis on gross-out humor and such, has one of the sweeter routes in the series with Morgan the Adorkable Librarian. Not only do her and Larry Lovage have quite a few things in common with their hobbies, they have SURPRISINGLY cute chemistry and the ending is genuinely sweet (Well...for a Larry game that is). There is a reason most players tend to choose her as the final girl in the game.

Not hindsight.

** A fair bit of the older games' humor has become uncomfortable at best and outright offensive at worst, particularly the jokes made at the expense of LBGTQ people in general and trans women in particular (like the extended riff on ''Film/TheCryingGame'' in ''Shape Up or Slip Out'', a gag that was repeated almost verbatim in ''Magna Cum Laude''). Larry has also "turned women gay" at various points throughout the series, which is a very outdated view of female sexuality (though in [[FairForItsDay fairness]], this is almost always presented as a positive development in the lives of the women in question, especially since they're better off without Larry in their love life).
** A large part of any game involves Larry doing favors for women with the expectation that he'll be rewarded with sex; this might make Larry look a little too much like a [[WantsAPrizeForBasicDecency "Nice]] [[EntitledToHaveYou Guys"]] to some players[[note]]Though it's worth noting that the women themselves are usually the ones [[SexForServices offering sex]], Larry usually doesn't get it, and he ends up looking like a fool for being so easily (and repeatedly) manipulated[[/note]].

* DorkAge: ''Magna Cum Laude'' and ''Box Office Bust'' both got this (especially the latter; the former at least has some fans), namely for the fact that [[OnlyTheCreatorDoesItRight they weren't made by Al Lowe]].
* FranchiseZombie: LSL 8 and 9, which were created without Al Lowe's involvement.

Added DiffLines:

* OnlyTheCreatorDoesItRight: When both ''Magna Cum Laude'' and ''Box Office Bust'' got harshly negative reception (especially the latter; the former at least has some fans), a lot of the blame came from the fact that they weren't made by Al Lowe.

* ScrappyMechanic: At least one reviewer felt that the conversations in ''Magna Cum Laude'' are genuinely amusing, and then proceeded to lament that you cannot actually pay attention to them as you need to play the minigame to keep them going.

Plus if you're drunk when you start a conversation the mini-game becomes considerably more difficult, but the game does nothing whatsoever to hint that you being drunk has anything to do with the sudden spike in difficulty of the mini-game.
