This is why you shouldn't YMMV before beating a game.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Dylan. You'll either like him for being a helpful NiceGuy, or hate him for being obnoxiously intrusive on everyone's affairs. Whether or not his constant appearences are a good or bad thing stems from this.

I really like Dylan. The interrogation with him is my favorite moment so far in the game.

* TheScrappy: Dylan, for being obnoxiously intrusive on Kyle's (and everyone else's) affairs. You'll also get sick of seeing him due to how much he pops up throughout the game.

** It should be mentioned that in one of the [[AllThereInTheManual secret files]], Kyle having a relationship with Bradley from Hotel Dusk is very blatantly implied to be canon. It discusses how Kyle had a girlfriend once but she was eventually killed, and the speaker then says that Kyle seemed to have found another special someone after moving to LA, which is where he would have met Bradley.
*** The above doesn't make sense, as Kyle met Bradley in NYC, where they worked together as policemen. It's more likely to refer to Rachel, since she is someone he met after leaving NYC for LA, and they have a pretty sizable amount of ShipTease in both games.

* FridgeHorror: In the several times Dylan approaches Kyle in the corridors and rooms (especially the ones where neither of them should be at all), the former is usually seen in a pose where he appears to be timidly hiding his right hand on one of his pockets, as if he was awkwardly trying to strike a conversation. * ThatOnePuzzle: The puzzles are generally harder than in Hotel Dusk. Usually the solutions to the harder ones are hinted in the classified folders in the novels (which shouldn't be opened in order to get the epilogue). However the solutions to some of them are not revealed, such as:
** The roof puzzle. [[spoiler: Touching or blowing into the DS will only get Marie to tell Kyle off. In order to grab her the lid of the DS will have to be closed.]] The hard part is figuring out that there's actually a wrong timing for doing it. Doing it at the wrong time will result in a game over without any hint of what the right time is.
** The music box. [[spoiler: There's a key in the music box. To get it the player need to 1) Hold the shoulder button which changes based on how the DS is held and are told only by the letter in the music box, 2) Close the lid of the DS while the hollow part of the cylinder is in the front, and 3) tap the key with the stylus after opening the DS WHILE holding the shoulder button.]] Possibly hard because of the UnexpectedlyRealisticGameplay.
