Not YMMV. Replacement about coming off as creepy realistic, not different than original art.

* UncannyValley: The film got an AnimationBump thanks to its budget, but the Character Design is noticeably different from the TV series, and some viewers had a hard time adjusting to it. On a general note, characters got rounder faces, smoothed skin texture, and desatured colors, especially the eyes. One of the allegedly unfortunate results was to make Chloé Bourgeois somehow prettier and more pleasing to look at than Marinette, while on the TV show it's the contrary (even if Chloé is by no way homely in it). And this was in spite of Chloé having the same intended off-putting facial expressions that on TV.

From what I can tell, this movie was made simply because it's a story Jeremy Zag wanted to tell. Any controversial elements that were "fixed" were probably just changed because Zag personally didn't like them. And I don't think many people were requesting that Adrien's character be completely changed (especially not 5 years ago), yet it was because it was best for this story.

* PanderingToTheBase: Well, some part of it, at least. As the movie is clearly producer Jérémy Zag's thing, with no input from somehow contested original creator/director/showrunner Thomas Astruc, the movie seems to make a point of "correcting" numerous elements loudly disliked by a sizeable part of the fandom. Notably, the end being more in line with "correct" family values endorsed in some areas of broadcasting, i.e. Gabriel instantaneously letting go of the obsessive goal he was willing to go for more than extreme lengths to ccomplish once he realizes he was about to kill his son, and allowing the police to arrest him. With the musical numbers requested for a long time by some parts of the fandom thrown in it for good measure. May or may not have worked, or conversely, made the things even worse : see FandomRivalry above.

* Narm: The musical numbers can come across as this. Notably, French audiences are not used to have musical numbers into French animation films, usually one or two reprises of the main theme. And even in Disney it can end up being painful ("Libérééééee, Délivrééééee"). Here, given the trailers put little to no emphasis upon this element and the extra cheesiness of the French versions of the songs, some viewers were unpleasantly surprised. The sheer amount of songs took its toll on older parts of the audience (from teens on), to the point that on the day of the release, in some large Parisian multiplex theaters, audible, strong, exasperated groans could be heard coming from the entire projection room as soon as a song started / was about to start. To some, this made the movie cross the line straight from narmy into awkward, cringe-worthy territory.

A handful of characters from the show were not seen in this movie, but that doesn't rule out their existence, especially since there's to be a sequel.

** Also, Lila Rossi has been AdaptedOut and so far, she doesn't seem to exist in this universe, to the delight of everyone who hated episodes featuring her like "Chameleon".
