** The manga eventually introduces a transgender woman. No one refers to her by her preferred pronoun after this fact is revealed, and when Pedro pulls her pants down in front of them, the characters aren't upset with Pedro, but with ''her. '' The it's actually implied that she didn't mind being exposed in front of a bunch of strangers, which in itself opens up a whole new can of worms.
** Speaking of Pedro, many western fans have pointed out that his cartoonish appearance, when compared to the otherwise realistically drawn cast, along with being a literal rapist, is unsettlingly reminiscent of Blackface. Let's not forget that Pedro, a rapist, is also the manga's only major gay character...

The scene is depicted in a way that makes it seem like we should sympathize with the greater cast, who were "tricked" about her "true" gender, rather than the transgender woman who had her pants pulled down in front of a bunch of strangers.
