** Third. He's so blatant about it that Thor calls him out on it at one point, but mostly he goes relatively undetected.
** Zagi. He's a ''lot'' more subtle than Third, but he's playing half the planet. It's especially evident in Death Game with his coup de'etat of the Blanc Ring.

** [[BiTheWay Zagi]] can't keep his hands off of Thor, especially in the manga (he hits on Thor so blatantly that Karim gets ''jealous'', and other members of the Blanc Ring comment that "Top likes the cute ones").

** Zagi can't keep his hands off of Thor, especially in the manga (his flirting is so obvious that Karim gets ''jealous'' of Thor, and other members of the Blanc Ring comment that "Top likes the cute ones"). Third prefers [[NoSenseOfPersonalSpace getting in his face]] and making suggestive comments.

** Rai is an 11-year-old child who was sent to Chimaera with absolutely no survival skills. He's terrified, gets beaten up by the wildlings when he spills water, and his brother almost kills him out of frustration when he complains. By the end of the first episode, he's dead. [[spoiler:And with TheReveal that he and Thor weren't actually related, it becomes very clear that Rai had no chance and was never expected to survive]].

** Karim. She was raised in a wildling nest by other feral children, and left them to follow Zagi when he passed through. He proceeded to [[MagnificentBastard do what he does]], using her and everyone else around him for his own ends, which she welcomed because it meant she was protecting him. And he casts her aside for daring to warn him that Thor might be dangerous, and later flat out admits that he was just doing that to set up a situation where Thor would get attached to her and he could use that connection. [[spoiler:Oh yeah, and then Third murders her to manipulate Thor into attacking Zagi]]. Zagi ''does'' claim to love her [[spoiler:after she dies]], but he's ''really bad'' at expressing that if it's true.

** Extremely subjective, as his {{Jerkass}} tendencies are ''severe'', but Zagi's [[FreudianExcuse past]] is fucked up even by the standards of [[CrapsackWorld this]] [[DysfunctionJunction series]]. His actions cannot be excused, but some people feel pretty bad for him.

** Karim. She was raised in a wildling nest by other feral children, and left them to follow Zagi when he passed through. He proceeded to [[MagnificentBastard do what he does]], using her and everyone else around him for his own ends, which she welcomed because it meant she was protecting him. ** Extremely subjective, as his {{Jerkass}} tendencies are ''severe'', but Zagi's [[FreudianExcuse past]] is pretty fucked up. Not that it justifies his actions, but some people feel pretty bad for him.

* {{Narm}}: Thor flipping out about his adaptable nature changing his skin tone is a little ridiculous. Especially since the change is ''barely noticeable'' -- it's less obvious than most summer tans.

* {{Asspull}}: Thor's [[spoiler: chameleon ability]] is introduced late in the series, and only used once for some inexplicable and seemingly senseless reason, and only ''after'' it was brought to his attention by the plot. It makes more sense in the manga, though it's mostly symbolic.

* UnfortunateImplications: Despite women wielding power and being able to choose their own husbands, a woman who does not bear children is considered an oddity. Tiz even goes so far as to say that it is unnatural that she, at seventeen, has not had any children of her own.
** This is justified given that they live in a half-civilized society, and have a short life-span. Thor even says in the end that the women of Chimaera are the saviors of humankind, or something to that effect ([[spoiler:since they give birth to children who carry the genes of the new species, saving humankind after the old species becomes extinct]]).
** Also, despite the fact that Chen and Karim have both proven themselves adept at fighting, they seem to prefer being weaker and more submissive to the masculine characters. Tiz is as well, but her fighting skills are more of an {{informed ability}}.
*** In the case of both Chen and Karim it's a result of them being infatuated with a certain man (Third and Zagi, respectively), especially Karim, who has a sort of a MasochismTango with Zagi.
** Even though the local society allows women the free pick of sexual partners, two principal female characters give up this privilege to fawn after men who are completely uninterested in them, and the other is in a MasochismTango with a man who never ''admits'' that he cares about her.

*** This only really ends up being an unfortunate implication with the anime, as it cuts out so much information but the bare minimum so it makes it much harder to figure out what was going going on, for instance.
**** [[spoiler: The homo sapiens that originated from Earth are dying out and the women are no longer able to bare children, and the children that are born are all basically test tube babies that have a very short lifespan. However, the females of species of humans on Kimera are the only ones in their entire star system that can still give birth. So they are the only ones passing on the genes of the next generation. So to the Vulcan system women, especially women who can give birth are naturally considered more valuable than men. This is a belief that the Hecate enforces onto the people, and why Tiz and Karim felt useless about not being able to have children, and why Chen chose to have Yuuki's children even though she was depressed.]]

* CompressedAdaptation: This is what happens when you try to squeeze five volumes of a manga rich in story and background info into only eleven episodes. Many vital pieces of information are missing from the anime (including the entire point of the story, that is [[spoiler:that the people of Chimaera are a new subspecies of homo sapiens]]), making it random and disjointed.

** Even though the local society allows women the free pick of sexual partners, all three principal female characters give up this privilege to fawn after men who are completely uninterested in them.

** In the first episode after the TimeSkip, the pale-skinned members of the Blanc Ring basiocally commit genocide against the exclusively dark-skinned Night Ring.
