** Bruno Buccellati is one of the few things about this part that fans can agree to be great. His Stand Sticky Fingers has one of the more interesting powers, and he has a more active role in the plot than Giorno. There are many fans who consider him the real protagonist of ''Vento Aureo''.
** If Buccellati isn't your favorite character in this part than chances are it's Guido Mista who, like Buccellati, is a more prominent protagonist than Giorno. It helps that the later chapters made him feel like a second [=BroJo=] and having a Stand named after ''Music/SexPistols'' helped him get a lot of fans.

** When Panacotta Fugo was first introduced, he was established as a mentor figure towards Narancia and the serious guy in the group. This opened up a lot of potential for an interesting dynamic between him and Narancia and having a major role among the protagonists. Unfortunately, Fugo only gets '''ONE''' major fight in the whole story and is [[spoiler: PutOnABus after Bruno betrays Diavolo.]]
** This part's secondary antagonist Risotto Nero. Initially established as a major threat in the first half of the story, many felt he was going to get a major battle with the protagonists at some point. Unfortunately, he's immediately forgotten after [[spoiler: Diavolo tries to kill Trish]], and when he does finally appear his fight is with Doppio instead of the protagonists. In fact he doesn't even get to fight the protagonists since [[spoiler: Narancia unknowingly kills him using Aerosmith while attempting to kill Doppio.]] It's especially embarrassing when you consider that Hol Horse had a more active role as secondary antagonist.

A lot of readers felt that he didn't have any personality quirks that let him stand out like Joseph or Josuke, and didn't have much of a role in the main plot. In fact the most interesting thing about his character (being Dio's son) is almost never explored.

* CriticalBacklash: The part is beginning to get this reaction. Vento Aureo is one of the most criticized and controversial parts in the series due to a number of factors, but some people reading it for the first time find that while yes, most of the criticisms are fair and there are some big problems, the part is still very enjoyable and has a lot to like. Many feel its MonsterOfTheWeek format is superior to Stardust Crusaders', due to a more interesting cast (even if some of them are very underused) and more consistently entertaining fights. A large part of this is probably because of the new translation, which has better quality scans and better conveys the characters' personalities.

** If a possible anime adaptation can improve on the problems with this part. Some believe that ''Vento Aureo'' might work better as an anime since the fights will now be animated and visual exposition can take the place of the in-battle dialogue from the manga. Fans also bring up how the ''Phantom Blood'' anime brought that part up to the standards of the other parts and how the added scenes in the ''Diamond is Unbreakable'' anime gave some much needed expansion to the story which could also improve the narrative and characterization issues this part had. Others however feel that the problems with characterization and story in this part were so blatant that nice looking fights can't really save this part. It's even gotten to the point where the detractors of this part want David Production to go right into animating ''Steel Ball Run''.

* AmericansHateTingle: While popular in its native Japan, the part gets significant amounts of criticism in the Western fanbase for a number of reasons - an excessive emphasis on the [[MonsterOfTheWeek Stand user of the week]], an uninteresting antagonist, and an ending which is simultaneously a DeusExMachina (even by ''[=JoJo=]'' standards) and incredibly cruel towards said antagonist. Not helping is that this is where Araki's tendency to have a CastFullOfPrettyBoys began, as part of ArtEvolution that has a BrokenBase all on its own.
* BadassDecay: Abbacchio and Fugo only get one fight scene where they are the focus in this part and they're both in the beginning. Following these fights neither of them contribute heavily to the action despite their stands being established as rather useful. Made only worse when [[spoiler: Fugo is written out of the story and Abbacchio is killed by Doppio.]]

There are many fans who consider him the real protagonist of ''Vento Aureo''.Aureo''.
** If Buccellatii isn't your favorite character in this part than chances are it's Guido Mista who like Bucellatii is a more prominent protagonist than Giorno. It helps that the later chapters made him feel like a second [=BroJo=] and having a stand named after ''Music/SexPistols'' helped him get a lot of fans.
** Risotto Nero and many members of La Squadra are well-liked among fans often being considered some of the best minor villains in the franchise. The EvilIsCool, EvilIsSexy, and RootingForTheEmpire tropes explain why. Prosciutto and Pesci are the most popular in particular for their memorable arc and comradery.

Added DiffLines:

* MemeticBadass: Guido Mista is a cool guy in canon but among the fandom, he is the greatest being who ever walked the Earth. His popularity has given him god-like status among the fandom and many fan portrayals often give him a personality akin to that of {{ComicBook/Deadpool}}. And then there's the fact that he has harem comprised of every female character in the series... [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and Narancia]].

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: While the franchise has had many instances of this trope before, ''Vento Aureo'' takes it to a whole new level. The story of this part would feel right at home in a gangster film like ''Literature/TheGodfather'' or ''Film/Goodfellas'' especially when it comes to the brutal violence, graphic blood and gore, and unapologetic deaths. In spite of the increased maturity of this part, this still got serialized in Shonen Jump.

* EndingFatigue: The final battle for this part is one of the longest final arcs in the entire franchise. Unlike the battles against Kars, DIO, and Kira, this fight has multiple phases and keeps throwing new obstacles at the protagonists. It begins immediately after the protagonists defeat Ciocclata and Secco with [[spoiler: Diavolo's introduction and a brief fight between King Crimson and Silver Chariot while the other protagonists attempt to find Buccelati. Then Silver Chariot Requiem awakens and the protagonists spend multiple chapters trying to figure out the body switch and stop Diavolo from getting the arrow, and then comes the final chapters of Giorno trying to claim the arrow.]] And once the final battle concludes, the story still has an additional five chapters about the gang's encounter with a Stand user before Buccelati met Giorno.

Added DiffLines:

* RootingForTheEmpire: There are a lot of fans who would have liked to see the members of La Squadra take down The Boss.

Added DiffLines:

* TheUntwist: Right from the beginning it was established that Giorno and the other protagonists wanted to take down The Boss and he would kill anyone who proved dangerous to his identity. [[spoiler: The fact that he made Bruno bring Trish (who is without a doubt the biggest threat to his identity) to him just to kill her really comes off as no surprise because of what is already known about his character.]]

* ContestedSequel: Definitely one among the Western fandom. Many Western fans have come to find this to be one of the weakest parts in the franchise. There's also the fact that it's largely disconnected from the previous parts and is even more of a standalone story than ''Diamond is Unbreakable'' was. As such there are some fans who after reading ''Diamond is Unbreakable'' skip right to ''Stone Ocean'' instead. It doesn't help that some countries lampshade this by marketing it as "[=GioGio's=] Bizarre Adventure".
* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: While this part does maintain some of the self-aware charm of the previous installments, there are a lot of darker elements that some fans took issue with. The fact that almost every fight ended with the death of the enemy made it hard for some fans to care about the minor antagonists or even remember them, and it doesn't help when [[spoiler: half the main cast is killed off towards the end.]] Another major point is how the main antagonist [[spoiler: Diavolo]] lacks the [[PetTheDog redeeming qualities]] of previous antagonists with a backstory causing him to be the darkest antagonist in the franchise. In addition scenes like the torture dance have caused some fans to feel less sympathetic towards the protagonists.

Added DiffLines:

* EpilepticTrees:
** [[spoiler: Diavolo's]] Stand "King Crimson" and ability "Epitaph" have puzzled fans on how they exactly work. King Crimson allows [[spoiler: Diavolo]] to erase time between two events like a time skip while "Epitaph" allows Doppio to communicate with the boss using objects like frogs and rocks that aren't even phones. Good luck trying to wrap your head around that.
** The final arc as a whole still leaves fans puzzled to this day. [[spoiler: Polnareff awakening to "Silver Chariot Requiem" causes the protagonists to switch bodies and the world around them to crumble. Then Giorno awakens to "Golden Experience Requiem" and is able to sentence Diavolo to an infinite death loop.]] It almost feels as if Araki came up with random stuff to get this part done with.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot:
** Many fans would have liked to see Araki's original plan of [[spoiler: Fugo being the mole]] come into action since it would have taken the story into a radically different direction and given character development to most of the main protagonists.
** Giorno being the son of DIO is almost never explored throughout the entire part. This plot point doesn't go beyond Giorno being ruthless towards his enemies. A lot of fans would have liked to see this ruthlessness be used to make Giorno a morally gray protagonist and have a contrast between the other protagonists.
** Koichi's initial escapade of coming to Italy in the early chapters. What could have been an interesting plot that brought more of the past mythology into the story just ends up being a plot device used to introduce the main storyline.

* SoOkayItsAverage: Unlike the Duwang Scans, the original translation for ''Vento Aureo'' is just another bad manga translation. While one could get unintentional laughs out of the Duwang Scans, the original translation for ''Vento Aureo'' is plagued by simplistic dialogue which makes the characters come off as bland and complicates the Stand battles even further. It doesn't help that the picture quality for the original scans is rather poor as the color tone for the black lines causing characters to clash in with the background. Alleviated now that a better translation is being worked on and with colored scans as well but some chapters have yet to receive this treatment and the last third of the manga still must be read with the original translation at the moment.

Nowadays ''Vento Aureo'' has many supporters who feel it doesn't get enough love and is unfairly judged, while some still stand by it being one of the weaker parts. ''Vento Aureo'' has gotten praise among the fandom for being DarkerAndEdgier than most of the other parts with more emphasis on the fights than anything, raising the stakes with overpowered Stands to create intense and often long fights, the protagonists being [[AntiHero anti-heroes]] and Araki taking the AnyoneCanDieRule to the extreme. As such the fans felt that ''Vento Aureo'' had a fresh feel to it compared to other parts that allowed it to explore ideas and plots other parts never touched upon such as moral ambiguity while having a generally likable cast of characters. That said, this part does have many detractors who at the least find it to be weak and at the worst outright dislike it. Those who aren't fans often criticize this part for having needlessly complicated Stands, the VillainOfTheWeek format getting stale especially due to how long the fights can get, many of the more interesting plot points such as the moral ambiguity of the protagonists and Giorno's relationship to Dio never being explored, not using many of the protagonists or supporting characters to their fullest potential, and an underwhelming villain alongside of a cop-out finale. Some of the detractors even admit to giving up on reading this part and skipping it altogether.

Some fans love it for being DarkerAndEdgier than the previous parts with a cast of AntiHero protagonists, but particularly the emphasis put on the fights. A lot of praise has been given to the fights for how high tension they are in that [[AnyoneCanDie all of them end with characters dying]], the Stands being ridiculously overpowered adding a stronger element of strategy, and how they take up many chapters. Be it underutilized characters, the Stand being needlessly complicated, and an underwhelming main villain, not everyone was pleased with ''Vento Aureo''.
