involved. Krotera makes the exact same point with regard to humans.humans.
** 1.7 ultimately comes to the conclusion that absolute pacifism doesn't work. Against an enemy you can't reason with, the proper solution is to execute them in cold blood if you don't want them coming after you.

** Ansaksie can also be subject to this, although there's a bit of justification in that her more dickish actions [[AllThereInTheManual are never mentioned in the game.]]]] The most dickish she gets in the actual game is attacking you in Deep Sector (which she immediately explains and apologizes for on a pacifist run) and being ''way'' too gleeful about Iosa's death in 1.7.

[[spoiler: Even the Komato themselves are afraid of them, after one killed its entire platoon of several hundred soldiers at the ship Cieratako in an attempt to raise its kill counter.]]

This trope doesn\'t really apply. That isn\'t the message the game is trying to get across, so there\'s no aesop to break.

* BrokenAesop: It seems this game's message is about how killing is always wrong, yet it doesn't bat an eye at you when you kill an enemy through an indirect method, or get a decent ending with a low kill count, or are even able to kill one of the villains without any consequences to Iji's conscious.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Despite the game's message that "the enemy" are people too, many players found it a good deal easier to kill Komato than Tasen. It's not surprising that portraying a species whose [[PlanetOfHats hat]] is being genocidal {{Sociopathic Soldier}}s as sympathetic would be difficult, to say the least. Even Daniel Remar has remarked that he may have gone too far with how he portrayed them.

It\'s not really the message pursued. Just a valid method.

* AnticlimaxBoss: PlayedForLaughs. Vateilika tries to fight Iji at the ends of Sectors 3 and 6, but either way she isn't any more powerful than a regular Soldier. The first time, Iji just kicks her out the window, and the second time, she ''pushes her out the door''.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: At one point, during a discussion on how [[VideoGame/{{Portal}} portal guns]] violate the law of conservation of energy, we cut to Dan watching Ron fall through an infinite portal loop while [[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Kyubey]] freaks out in the foreground. No one acknowledges he's there, it's not brought up in the narration, and he's never mentioned again. Captain Lhurgoyf just included it as a one-off non sequitur joke.
** Later, a command asks for something silly and unrelated to the plot to happen just because it's silly, which Captain Lhurgoyf renders as a monkey in a party hat, clown makeup, a tuxedo jacket, and a diaper juggling chainsaws on a unicycle while blowing a streamer in front of St. Basil's Cathedral. It even uses the BigLippedAlligatorMoment icon from WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic.

They\'re both weak-willed - General Tor bitches at Iji for having to follow the Imperial Army and Komato public\'s desires. Both logs talk about the \"Now the burden is not on your shoulders\" and he was seriously considering accepting the fake report (Iosa would even back him up on it).

** In-game, General Tor's character changes depending on if you're a pacifist or not. On a normal run, his logs indicate that he's discomforted by the fact that Dan's call for help took the choice to finish off the Tasen or ignore them out of his hands, something he was deeply contemplating at the time. On a 1.6 pacifist run, the logs change to being moaning on how he never had a choice at all, and apparently did not seriously consider accepting the phoney scout report at all (much unlike his counterpart), even though he doesn't want to finish the Tasen. The pacifist-run version seems much more weak-willed than his normal-run counterpart because of this.
