* TheWoobie: Coach Z spends Decemberween trapping himself in his locker and drinking Listerine.
** Strong Sad. The email "depressio" and [[http://www.homestarrunner.com/sadjournal/wonderyears.html its well-hidden Easter Egg]] make this even worse.

* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Not the entire work, but there are ''definitely'' plenty of surreal moments.

** Strong Bad, who got annoyed and blew up the theater near the end of the Strong Bad Email [[Recap/StrongBadEmailE167TheMovies "the movies"]], was once SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker in a Halloween cartoon. Shortly after Aurora, James Holmes dyed his hair green and claimed he was The Joker.

** Strong Bad used to be ''the'' Ensemble Darkhorse of the series and has definitely become the face of the site, but nowadays he's become a BaseBreaker.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: There's little to no objectionable content, but many of the pop cultural references will go straight over younger viewers' heads.

Plus Strong Bad commonly uses language that would be rated PG-13 (e.g. he doesn't say "ass", but "crap" is a common word in his vocabulary).

* {{Moe}}:
**[[GranolaGirl Marzi]][[TheCutie pan]], just as long as you don't mind her SoapboxSadie habits.
** Homestar is also very Moe, especially with the voice he had in the older cartoons.

* CrossesTheLineTwice: A lot of Strong Bad's abusive behavior would be horrifying in just about any other context, but it often ends up being so ridiculously over-the-top or childish/ineffective that it becomes hilarious rather than disturbing. However it can occasionally go a bit ''too'' far in this direction; see the entry for DudeNotFunny below.
* DudeNotFunny: Really, a lot of Strong Bad's abuse of Strong Sad isn't funny. How he annually boards up Strong Sad in a bathtub around Decemberween comes to mind.
** There's also the toon where Homsar [[spoiler: is starving to death in the snow with his body caved in.]] As if that wasn't bad enough, the series went on hiatus with the last toon having no appearance or mentioning of Homsar.
*** Now averted, as the Halloween '14 toon still shows Homsar as alive and well (even if he does only appear in an EasterEgg).

* BaseBreaker: Strong Bad. EnsembleDarkhorse, or {{Scrappy}} CreatorsPet?
** Most (if not all) Halloween toons [[RunningGag feature Homsar somewhere as an]] EasterEgg.

* CreatorsPet: Strong Bad. Starting off as an EnsembleDarkhorse, it seems his popularity has gone too far. What with him being the star of [[VideoGame/StrongBadsCoolGameForAttractivePeople the official game based on the website]] as opposed to Homestar, and receiving more exposure than all other characters (again, including Homestar), even going as far as to exert his popularity over Homestar ''in canon,'' has certainly gained him more than a few haters.
