* NoYay: While Satou's interactions with Shio look heartwarming it's still a teenager grooming a small child.

** In Chapter 2, Satou comes home crying about how she only wants sweet happiness. Shio responds to that by ''repeatedly smooching her on the lips'', because she had ate some chocolates earlier and [[LiteralMinded thus her lips had a sweet taste]]. The scene is played to emphasize Shio's childish innocence, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a kiss between a teenager and a small child.

** What exactly is the nature of Satou and Shio's relationship? They profess to be lovers, but the furthest their "relationship" goes is a chaste kiss. Meanwhile, several parallels are drawn between Satou and Shio's mother Yuuna, and Satou is ultimately replacing Yuuna's role as Shio's caretaker, but their "engagement" in the last third of the series, as well as Satou being able to manipulate Mitsuboshi by playing on his obsession with Shio, suggests that their feelings cannot be explained as entirely platonic, although the former could also be a case of SharedFamilyQuirks since Asahi made similar wedding recitals with his mom before Shio was born. The director of the anime adaptation, for his part, [[http://manga.tokyo/interview/exclusive-interview-with-happy-sugar-life-general-director-keizou-kusakawa believes Satou's love for Shio to be more familial in nature but concedes that there might be elements of both.]] The later "Extra Lives" series of epilogue chapters made around 3 years after the manga ended, made both as a way to say goodbye to the series before moving onto Tomiyaki's next project, and as a way to give original chapters to a number of characters and pairings that ranked high in a popularity poll, ultimately depicts Shio having come to see Satou in a ''very'' romantic light, of which there are hints in the original run's ending as well, but the overall full nature of their relationship - particularly when it comes to Satou's own feelings - are still very murky, especially during the original 2015-2019 run.

The description of the volume on Square's own website and on the book itself specifically cites the final story with Shio as Shio's after story, and I quote: "しおの「その後」を描く、単行本描き下ろし作品も収録", which roughly means: Also included is a new work drawn for the book depicting Shio's "after" story.

It deserves at least as much mention as the director claiming it's familial and he does not know the actual possibility, considering he made the anime before the manga even fully concluded and notably portrayed Shio's fall into darkness extraordinarily different from how the manga did, which depicted her sinking into the world and deeply kissing a vision of Satou while going on rants as unhinged as Satou's in her mind, whereas the Anime just has her declare her fondness for Satou in the hospital bed by itself, likely entirely because he was only given notes on how the manga overall ended.

I simply take issue with how this entry presents a for hire anime director's input as superlative to the works of the mangaka, especially when to this very day Tomiyaki regularly draws extremely romantically charged art of the two just in his own free time on Twitter.

Lastly, I overall question why you even think Volume 11's non-canon. As far as I can tell, nothing actually indicates such; nothing conflicts with what happened in the story, and popularity polls leading to omakes taking place in the canon of a series is actually pretty standard in the industry. In fact, the only explicitly non canon work in volume 11 is the alternate universe story in the second chapter... which isn't even called "Extra Life 2," it's just called "Parallel Life".

I can understand why it's upsetting to admit a mangaka intends a toxic romance between an older teen and a child, but it doesn't mean that something is "non-canon" with no indication whatsoever to say it is. Fidelity towards the actual nature of the work should take precedent. Do you have any sources to cite that it's intended as non-canon as opposed to you simply assuming that because the final volume was written in response to a popularity poll that means it's non-canon in your eyes?

I'll also adjust the entry to point out it's Shio specifically - which is well accepted in the fanbase anyhow - as she is the only one shown having repeated fantasies of deeply kissing Satou both during the original run and in the after story, and the overall nature of Satou's love is far more ambiguous than hers just overall.

Like I said; those came about as character polls like the one where Auntie runs a daycare with the Shio one I think leans more to a what if than legitimately factual. At least, I would say it is questionably canon.

Further research has made clear that while the overall release of "Extra Life" was due to popularity polls, the final Shio chapter is canon, as the volume mentions after the popularity polls that it also has a new book revealing Shio's "after" - that is, her life as an older teen as revealed in the end of the Manga. I find it unlikely any of the other stories are intended to be non-canon, as it's just the original author making new chapters for these characters in response to a character poll, but the last one very much is intended as such. And, as previously mentioned, said chapter includes an older Shio straight up dreaming of kissing Satou deeply on the floor, needless to say I don't think there's much ambiguity here. All the same, I've adjusted the entry to specifically cite the final chapter in particular, as it is the most unambiguous into its placement in the canon.

You are mistaking the final epilogue chapter for the fan-submitted omake chapters. The final epilogue chapter was directly made as an epilogue to the series and continuation of the end of the original run's final chapter showing the older Shio. And Shio literally fantasizes about straight up making out with Satou in it. So no, this is very justified in staying in place.

What you confused with it is the chapters which include things like "What if Satou and Shio were in an isekai setting", of which the suggestion is literally above the omakes in the text itself.

She's pretty and is actually fairly well-endowed, but uses her feminine charm in several instances to get what she wants such as when she forces her teacher to help her dispose of the body bags, and luring one of the assailants from Episode 2 towards her before gouging the eyes from him and his accomplice.
