** Kevin also has shades of this, notably in [[DownerEnding the ending]] of "Exclamation Strikes Back": [[spoiler:Due to him being kidnapped by Professor Exclamation to be used as bait for Hamster and Gretel, Kevin was forced to miss his date with Hiromi, arriving back just as she is about to leave. Since he still tries to keep Hamster and Gretel's superhero selves [[SecretIdentity a secret]], Kevin tries the same, vague, technically true excuse of him taking care of his sister, but Hiromi doesn't believe him and starts to think [[TheMasqueradeWillKillYourDatingLife this isn't gonna work out]]; essentially, Kevin's relationship with Hiromi is probably ruined through no fault of his own. Shortly afterwards, the aliens show up and casually tell a frustrated Kevin that they never intended to give him superpowers in the first place. After that, [[TraumaCongaLine just to rub more salt in the wound]], they accidentally douse him in cleaner fluid.]]

More villains have made return appearances since this was added, making it no longer true

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Despite Hamster and Gretel having a eclectic RoguesGallery, the only recurring villains are the Destructress & [=FistPuncher=], Professor Exclamation, and El Luchador. The rest are just exclusive to being villains of the week even though some of them, like La Cebolla and the Bouncy Castle, also happen to have gotten their powers from the aliens, which means they could've appeared more often as part of the MythArc.

*** This particular scene is notable for being included in the [[https://youtu.be/eOjT84QlPfw "Respect the Unexpected" promo]], with the ketchup reveal snipped out. Out of context, the scene really ''does'' look like a GoryDiscretionShot, surprising nearly everyone about the BloodierAndGorier scene.

* FandomRivalry: A handful of vocal ''[[WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse Owl House]]'' fans think their serious, serial show got cut short (as the series was cancelled, renewed for only 3 more specials, because it "does not fit the Disney brand"), in favor of the more episodic and comedic ''Hamster & Gretel'', and got ready to call the end of an era for Disney Television Animation for shifting their focus from serial shows to "kids-only" shows (despite the fact that ''Hamster & Gretel'' has an ongoing plotline and sometimes adult humor).
** Naturally, that same handful of ''Owl House'' fans were pissed at the "Sleepover with the Enemy" scene detailed above as was shown in the commercial. They were quick to call hypocrisy on Disney's part for canceling ''The Owl House'' for "not fitting the Disney brand" when the entire show was nearly not as graphic as Gretel getting "violently crushed by a truck and leaving blood on the wall" in that one particular scene.

* SuspiciouslySimilarSong: Hamster and Gretel trashing Professor Exclamation's robots is set to what sounds very much like "Yakety Sax". This same music was [[RecycledSoundtrack previously used]] in ''WesternAnimation/MiloMurphysLaw''.

* TheWoobie: You can't help but feel bad for Hamster and Gretel in "For Whom the Belle Trolls". They're the target of a mass smear campaign against them by a JerkAss social influencer who is going after them for an ''unbelievably'' petty reason and the whole city turns against them. Hell, Gretel looks just about ready to cry as the police are about to take her and Hamster away.

** May apply InUniverse in the episode "The Bitter Sitter": whoever came up with the idea to fill people-shaped icicle pops with cherry syrup so that it looks like ABloodyMess when kids are biting their heads off may have a sick sense of humor.

Moved these to Hamster And Gretel

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Gretel's song "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NASedrl2hk It's My Best Friend Bailey's Birthday]]" from the episode "[[Recap/HamsterAndGretelS1E14BirthdayBesties Birthday Besties]]" is incredibly catchy and demonstrates a lot, demonstrating how much Gretel cares about her best friend as well as the sheer amount of energy and enthusiasm Gretel possesses. You can tell her voice actor put a lot of energy into it to capture Gretel's character.
** Also, Fred's song "[[https://youtube.com/watch?v=D-ff0zx-YWc&feature=share Don't Steal From The Banks]]" from the episode "[[Recap/HamsterAndGretelS1E07CheerCheerBangBang Cheer Cheer Bang Bang]]" is a real bop due to it resembling an authentic cheer song as well as Fred uses her deadpan voice whenever she's singing.

* UnintentionalUncannyValley: Many have pointed out how unsettling Gretel's face looks, with her apparent lack of eyebrows (they're actually obscured under her bangs most of the time), her big, oval eyes with visible irises and pupils, and her wide, near-permanent smile.
