The Flood being in this game really does annoy me to no end. Atroix and Jerome are main characters, so they can't be darkhorses.

* AssPull: The survival of , both of which were destroyed during Videogame/Halo3, but are back seemingly no worse for wear. It's particularly blatant in the case of the former, which was very visibly exploding.

** Even though Atriox appeared in only a few cutscenes, he is considered one of the more well-written villains.
** Jerome's badassery and chemistry with Isabel made him rather popular, to the point of some fans suggesting a Jerome-focused spin-off. His immense popularity lead him to becoming a commander in his own right.

Requires Word Of God confirmation

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Going back to the Creator/Bungie-era art designs have been very well received by the Halo community.
** The return of the in Awakening the Nightmare.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** Hunters can easily decimate your ground units, and if they're in a garrison, they can absorb a LOT of damage. It gets even worse if they have the Beam Cannon upgrade. Even if you come after them with twelve Marine squads, ten Warthogs or four Scorpions, they'll turn your units into swiss cheese in no time.
