* UnintentionallySympathetic: While what Charlotte did in last few episodes of Season 2 two was mean and ruthless, consider the entire Season from her perspective. She seemingly makes friends with Cleo and Lewis, the latter of whom she quickly gets a crush on.
When they all first met, Cleo never mentioned she has dated Lewis and she clearly dumped him. Unfortunately, when she gets close to him Cleo unexpectedly goes all ClingyJealousGirl on him and gets her friends in on the drama. Nevertheless, Charlotte still continues to be nice to them despite all their suspicions and rudeness. Not to mention all the times Lewis has abandoned her for said ex and friends.
** Not only that, they've been keeping her own family history from her. Then, when she finally founds out and tries to bond with the group once becoming a mermaid they still continue to villainize her.
** There's also the fact that they made fun of and scolded her for a phobia she had. Sure, she shouldn't have tried to injure Ronnie the dolphin like that, but she was still most likely acting out of fear and a poorly done self-defense.
** After all of that rude behaviour, secrecy, and antagonizing that she had to endure just so she could fit in, is it really surprising that surprising when she snapped in the end and pulled a FaceHeelTurn in retaliation for all that?

Read above and you'll find two key expressions that nullify the example: "Drunk With Power" and "apologized".

* MoralEventHorizon: Charlotte crossed it when she in the second-to-last episode stole Cleo's locket and made her believe that Lewis no longer cared about her.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: The humor in "Under the Weather" comes from the girls pretending they have a mysterious tropical illness, and the specialist quarantining them for safety. She also gets a moment where she chews out Cleo's family and Emma's father for coming into the house and therefore requiring them to isolate too. This is very reminiscent of the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, and numerous countries having to go into lockdown.

** Zane in season 3, big time. He basically goes back to being a snobby, scammy, stubborn arrogant jerk, even going as far as kissing Will's "evil" sister, Sophie, right in front of Rikki, his GIRLFRIEND, and then declaring "it was nothing" to Rikki when she rightfully called him out on it. Later, he tries to blackmail her into coming back to him, while still keeping Sophie is still close. It's like he was stripped off his previous character development, where he could be mean and pushy, but not as horrible as there.

** While her actions in the last half of Season 2 were pretty much villainous, Charlotte being a mermaid roughly lasted only 5-6 episodes. As much as she was hated by fans by the end of Season 2, wouldn't it still be interesting if Charlotte at least had a redemption arc while keeping her mermaid powers in Season 3 while being the third mermaid that filled the gap in that season, or, if still keeping Bella in that season, as the fourth official mermaind in the group?

The Scrappy doesn't cover every character who gets hate from the fanbase. Charlotte doesn't count since the audience hatred she might get is clearly intentional.

* LoveToHate: Charlotte. Even though she was only an antagonist for a brief time and apologized for everything she did when she was DrunkWithPower, she was very easy to hate when she was the villain.

** Some fans really like to hate Charlotte, espicially after her getting mermaid powers.
