* {{Sequelitis}}: The original is a hugely popular 50s nostaglia funfest. This movie has only a few characters returning from the original (Frenchy, Eugene, the principal and her assistant, and the coach. All brief roles.) and introduces Sandy's cousin Michael in some weak attempt to connect the two movies. The plot is basically a GenderFlip of the first movie's plot and the results are... well, let's just say [[FanonDiscontinuity most Grease fans like to pretend it doesn't exist.]]

When ''Grease 2'' flopped, Paramount abandoned those plans. A new, straight-to-DVD sequel has been in the plans for Paramount for over a decade, now.

* Headscratcher: The Calendar Girls have a dozen girls singing, along with three male helpers (DiMucci, Davey, Eugene), a piano player, and Doloris assisting as well. They have also obviously spent a crap ton of money on the costumes and sets. Is the prize really worth all that expense considering they're going to be getting probably a max of eight records a piece? * HollywoodHomely: Michael, such a hopeless nerd. Kind of. The twins and Paulette both say that he is cute, it's more of that being a stuffy Brit, he is way out of touch with 60's American biker culture.

Would ''Grease 3'' have worked with the mid-Sixties and [[Music/TheBeatles British Invasion music]] as a backdrop? Would ''Grease 4'' have dealt with hippies? Would there have been a Seventies version, sorta like ''Film/DazedAndConfused'' with musical numbers? We'll never know. ** ''[[RecycledTheSeries Grease: The TV Series]]'' would most likely have been ''HappyDays'' [[XMeetsY meets]] ''Series/{{Glee}}''.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Paramount was envisioning up to three more sequels and possibly a TV series. Would ''Grease 3'' have worked with the psychedelic late Sixties as a backdrop? Would there have been a Seventies version, sorta like ''Film/DazedAndConfused'' with musical numbers? Would we have ended up with ''Grease 5'' in 1990, reflecting on the early Eighties? We'll never know.
