* SoBadItsGood: This movie makes the first one look like Les Miserables by comparison. Among the changes: an inferior script, much less angst (and most of what is there qualifies as Wangst), far less actual sex, much more singing about sex. It's a good time!

* CultClassic: The film eventually gained a cult following, with [[https://film.avclub.com/grease-2-is-actually-way-cooler-than-the-original-1798264518/ some fans]] even calling it superior to ''Grease''.

* {{Sequelitis}}: The original is a hugely popular 50s nostalgia funfest. This movie has only a few characters returning from the original (Frenchy, Eugene, the principal and her assistant, and the coach. All brief roles.) and introduces Sandy's cousin Michael in some weak attempt to connect the two movies. The plot is basically a GenderFlip of the first movie's plot and the results are... well, let's just say [[FanonDiscontinuity most Grease fans like to pretend it doesn't exist.]] Paramount planned two more sequels after this one, as well as a TV series. When ''Grease 2'' flopped, Paramount abandoned those plans. A new, straight-to-DVD sequel has been in the plans for Paramount for over a decade, now.

* LadykillerInLove: Not sure Johnny counts as a Ladykiller but it seems that he genuinely loved Stephanie and a good deal of his bad attitude during the movie is how hurt he is that she broke up with him. Paulette is eager and all over him which is what he claims to want. There's no reason for him to continue to pursue Stephanie except that he genuinely cares for her but fails to show it due to his bad butt persona and later his own hurt feelings.

* ValuesDissonance: The "Reproduction" number, a cringey song that makes light of date rape ("they change their tune when you get them in the backseat" "all they can do is say 'no no no no no no no no no!") complete with sexual harassment ("I got your 'pistil' right here!", ignoring the fact that the pistil is the plant's female reproductive organ).
** Let’s do it for our country” involves Louis saying he’s going to fight into a war, while a bomb warning goes off (thanks to his friend helping out) implying they are under attack at that very moment. He uses this to get Sharon to “put out” but not only has Sharon said no before (off screen). She clearly doesn’t want to do anything with Louis being extremely freaked out through out the song while being coerced into sleeping with him. Thankfully she discovers it was a lie but that doesn’t change the fact that Louis wanted to sleep with her under false pretenses. She’s justifiably hurt and mad when she discovers this however she’s still dating him in the final musical number. He also gets away with what he did.

** Johnny's clearly only with Paulette because he can't have Stephanie and Paulette doesn't seem to care at first. She is later extremely hurt and angry when he gets Jealous over Stephanie (after her date with the cool rider). Paulette just wishes he would choose her. However at the talent show, she realizes she deserves better from him. So she calls him out for his behavior and tells him off for pushing everyone around and saying she’s the best girl he’s ever going to get, then she goes to perform.
** Sharon should of dumped Louis for what he did (and tried to get her to do) but it never happens.

* BadassDecay: The T-Birds and the Pink Ladies as organizations, relative to the gangs from the first movie. The original T-Birds had no fear of the Scorpions and were prepared to rumble with them at a moment's notice, even with such inadequate weapons as a squirt gun and a switch-comb, whereas Johnny's crew are afraid to face Balmudo unless he's alone. Meanwhile, the original Pink Ladies were ''not'' the Ladies' Auxiliary of the T-Birds, as seen when Rizzo goes to the big dance with Balmudo.
