FriendlyFandoms: Since they share the same creators, many Gorillaz fans are also ''TankGirl'' and [[Music/Blur blur]] fans, especially in the case of the former.

** With the tease releases from Humanz, including ''Saturnz Barz'' and ''Let Me Out'', many people are becoming fed up with the guest singers taking up more of the spotlight, and would like at least a few non-collab songs on the album.
** There's also disagreements over the structure of Humanz, particularly over how much looser and more 'mixtape' like it is compared to previous albums. Some people adore it, some are more neutral and still enjoy the album anyway, and some find it a weakness of the album, regardless of what they think of it overall. This, combined with the above complaints about the perceived lack of non-collab songs, as well as arguments over how much of it is considered a Gorillaz album (despite every album being vastly different anyway) due to not having as much 'story' on the album itself/as much of Damon's involvement vocally will all lead to vastly different responses.

** Special mention goes to 2D in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzJGWAfmBco "Sleeping Powder"]]. He appears to be motion-captured, and the slightly awkward movements and surreal imagery don't help much.

** Whether or not it's okay to sexualize Noodle. For many fans, she grew up as they did, so sexualizing her feels like sexualizing a sister or childhood friend, leading to a great deal of {{Squick}}, even though she's of legal age now. There's also her 10+ year age gap between her and everyone else in the band.

It's mostly dependent on whether you view the fact that we've known her since she grew up as they did, so sexualizing was 10 to cause any {{Fanservice}} involving her feels like to become source of {{Squick}} or not. Some view it as being equivalent to sexualizing a sister or close childhood friend, leading to friend or relative, while others believe that, as she is now an adult, there is nothing wrong with suggesting that she is a great deal of {{Squick}}, even though she's of legal age now. There's also her 10+ year age gap between her and everyone else in the band.sexual being.

* CreatorsFavorite: Jamie Hewlett has talked about how his favorite character to draw is Noodle. This is especially true in Phase 4, where in Humanz's art book the last few pages is just artwork of Noodle. Despite a focus on her in the art the fan base love her just as much for her badass feats, being charismatic and thoughtful in interviews, being a beautiful young woman, and seeing her grow up an mature from the ten year old that arrived in a Fed-Ex crate.

* FriendtoAllChildren: The music video for ''Dirty Harry'' implies 2D has the instincts, at least. His smiles and demeanor implies that the only reason he's playing at all is to keep the children distracted from their dire situation (stranded in a desert) the only way he knows how; through genre busting music and ethereal vocals. That said, 2D's absentmindedness works against him in actually taking CARE of the children. He dances right past two boys in the middle of a slap fight, ignores blatant bullying and hair pulling, and is totally absent when a boy peaks up a girl's skirt, after stuffing a Dung Beetle's dung ball in his mouth.

* WinBackTheCrowd: Phase 4 made its first musical step with "Hallelujah Money," which many fans were [[BrokenBase very wary about to say the least,]] [[TaintedByThePreview bringing up dread that maybe after 6 years, Gorillaz have lost their touch.]] A few months later however, they finally revealed the next album, ''HUMANZ'' and its ''20-track playlist'', simultaneously released ''4 new tracks''[[note]]"Saturnz Barnz," "We Got the Power," "Ascension," and "Andromeda"[[/note]], and a much more recognizable but still gorgeous ''360'' music video for "Saturnz Barz," all of which were very well-received by the fanbase.

** After ''Humanz'' [[BrokenBase polarized fans and critics alike]] -- one of its bigger criticisms being how it was less about the band itself and more like Damon Albarn just collaborating with whichever artists he could find -- [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzJGWAfmBco "Sleeping Powder"]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44GmrCQezBU&t=18s was made specifically as a direct response to it,]] being a very 2D-oriented song based on his drug addiction. The reaction to it has been very positive, with many fans finding it better than most songs off of ''Humanz'' as a result, but time will tell if the streak will continue.
