* SpecialEffectFailure: The movie experimented a lot with ChromaKey to project Godzilla onto real-life footage instead of having him trample over miniature environments all the time, and while some shots pull it off, there are ''many'' scenes where the colors and shadows don't match up, or where he appears blurry while the rest of the shot is crisp -- worse, in one of the shots, his feet simply disappear into the ground for no reason.

Added DiffLines:

** The CGI used for Godzilla while he's swimming is extremely primitive and arguably a massive step backwards from the [[Film/Godzilla1998 monster from two years prior]]. Not helped by the lighting making it look like Godzilla's now purple instead of the usual green.

* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: Shinoda's response to Katagiri after [[spoiler: surviving the City Tower bombing]] is darkly chuckle-worthy.
--> '''Shinoda''': Nice try, asshole.
** During Godzilla's first attack, his roar shatters the Godzilla Prediction Network's van's front window. When they're driving along the coast to watch the attack, the wind comes into the van pretty strongly once they get driving. Yuki and Shinoda are visibly uncomfortable with this. The real kicker is when Shinoda turns on the useless windshield wipers.
** When Yuki comes upon 2 workers and asks where the Godzilla Prediction Network is, while the Boss is given her directions, he keeps hitting the worker in the Head twice with the pole, then he sees him not working, he asks him who told him to stop working and the worker said no one. Then he hits him in the head with the Pole again, then he notice the worker has his hands on his head and asks "What?"
** After one of the workers helps Shinoda's Motorcycle on the van, Shinodoa tells him he stinks, he starts smelling his Armpits only for Shinoda to tell him its his Breath. Then the worker blows his mouth.
** Shinoda's young daughter Io gets a few good lines throughout the movie. At one point, she's cooking dinner while her father is reading. The dub adds a pretty good line in response.
--> '''Io''': I don't hear that cabbage being chopped!
** At another point, Yuki's trying to come back to take pictures with Godzilla Prediction Network. Io tries to get her to pay for membership, which Yuki doesn't like. When she tries to involve Shinoda, though...
--> '''Io''': ''I'm'' in charge of the business end.
*** Bonus points for Shinoda making sure he's ''extra'' occupied at that moment.

* [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome Crowning Moment of Awesome]]: Godzilla's early attack on the coast. The king's back, baby.
** One particular shot from said attack features Godzilla just ''looming'' over the tiny GPN van as he slowly advances.
** Early on, said small GPN van comes ''very'' close to Godzilla. Close enough that his breath (not his fire breath, just his ''normal'' breath) condenses on their windshield. At this point, it's just awesome that the trio survive!
*** Bonus points for the fact that while Yuki's screaming her head off, [[AdorablyPrecociousChild Io]] remains pretty calm, though she does sound nervous when she tells her dad to floor it.
** One of the biggest scientific revelations about Godzilla in the movie comes not from the government, but from one determined researcher who's working out of the back of a brewery. Admittedly he gets to use the government labs, but it's still awesome.
