alphabetizing and removing non-YMMV entries, while YMMV tropes can only be played straight

* AlasPoorVillain: SubvertedTrope. While this has been the reaction of many to [[spoiler: Hugo Strange's]] pitiful death at the hands of his master in VideoGame/BatmanArkhamCity, GCN simply thinks that it completes the circle of empty ineffectiveness that has been [[spoiler: Strange's]] characterization as a villain.
-->'''Narrator:''' [[spoiler: Hugo...STRANGE!]] You have been demoted.....''to garbage-tier''!*ding!*

* FollowTheLeader:
** [[VideoGame/DMCDevilMayCry Sometimes]] [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil6 criticizes]] games for having certain platformer segments that GCN feels were ripped off from VideoGame/{{Uncharted}}. Ironically enough, they also note that VideoGame/{{Uncharted}}'s entire premise is this trope to Franchise/IndianaJones.
** On a meta level, the entire channel is basically WebVideo/CinemaSins, but with video games instead of movies. Not only do they outright admit that they are ripping off [=CinemaSins=], but they always post a link to said channel in every video in order to promote them since they are the ones who inspired GCN to begin with. Despite that and [=CinemaSins=] themselves approving of GCN, a lot of people still believe that GCN are lazy hacks copying off [=CinemaSins=].
* FriendlyRivalry: With WebVideo/{{Dartigan}} and his gaming sins videos. Notable that when Dartigan started doing specialized intros for his games, [=GCN=] followed suit.

* MaliciousMisnaming: Possibly invoked in the ''VideoGame/BioShock'' review when the Narrator repeatedly points out how "Atlus" is no friend. One of the top comments on that video even asks "[[ArcWords Would you kindly]] spell Atlas's name correctly?"

* TheUntwist:
** In the sins video for ''VideoGame/UntilDawn'', the narrator immediately knows that [[spoiler: Josh is actually the one behind all of the traps at the lodge, as for that entire portion of the game, he's the character that's seen the least and the only one who isn't playable. There's also the fact that Josh's disturbing levels of cheer while hanging out at the lodge where his sisters went missing, on the anniversary of their disappearance, makes his instability rather obvious to the observant.]]
** The narrator also isn't surprised when VideoGame/MetalGearSolid reveals that [[spoiler: Liquid Snake is masquerading as Master Miller.]]
** He also isn't surprised when [[VideoGame/BioShock1 Atlas]] is [[spoiler: revealed to be evil]], and even offers reasons to show off why he's not to be trusted before [[spoiler: the game outs him as the BigBad]].

* VillainHasAPoint: They actually ''absolve'' DMC (which they have stated repeatedly that they hate) of four sins when [[spoiler: Vergil]] lays out his arguably reasonable intentions behind wanting to rule humanity. That may be a meager subtraction, considering how many sins they would sometimes add, but the fact that they actually acknowledged the villain's motivations as valid in a plot that they are completely biased against is impressive in and of itself.
** They also remove a sin from ''VideoGame/MortalKombat9'' when Quan Chi {{lampshade|Hanging}}s the Elder Gods' TheGodsMustBeLazy status.
** They spend nearly the entirety of their sins video for ''VideoGame/TheOrder1886'' ripping apart the game's Idiot Plot. Near the end of the story, we get this when the defeated villain gives his motivation for JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope:
-->'''Narrator:''' Wow, this is some good stuff. [[NotMakingThisUpDisclaimer No, really.]] [[spoiler: Lucan]] speaks TRUTH. The only problem? It took SEVEN HOURS for the game to get that good! *ding!*
