* DesignatedHero: In ''Binding Blade'', the Eight Legends seem like an unexplored case of WrittenByTheWinners--it is stated outright that humans started the Scouring with no apparent provocation, and the Eight Legends who brought the decisive victory went on to be revered as founders of the major nations. Although the characters themselves don't angst much about this fact, nothing discourages the players from developing a jaded view. This game gets into Designated Hero territory by having two of the Legends appear--Athos the Archsage is treated as a wise, all-knowing guide, and Bramimond also gets a sympathetic showing. Two of the others, Roland and Durban, get small cameos that also paint them as basically heroic people. They were likely not the ones who ''started'' the war (those Eliwood at least has the decency to condemn at the end of the game), but they're never questioned about the fact that their people waged a brutal and nearly one-sided conflict that ended with the exile of dragons from Elibe except in a highly weakened form.

Added DiffLines:

** Hardcore players consider the game's ranking system a decent idea in theory with flawed execution in practice, as many of the categories contradict each-other, such that getting a full S Rank [[GuideDangIt requires a very specific, counterintuitive playstyle.]]
*** While Survival (don't let anyone die) and Combat (40% of fights end with the enemy unit dead) are simple, the thresholds for Experience are much higher than one would expect, to the point where even a slow-paced casual playthrough will likely struggle to reach them. In practice, you'll need to deploy low-level unpromoted characters in late-game maps to maximize your exp gains, and you'll ultimately have to get ''every'' character at least 5 levels, often more. Combined with the Tactics rank (beat the game in as few turns as possible), players need to "budget" their turns across maps very carefully.
*** The Funds rank is widely derided for encouraging a TooAwesomeToUse mentality: it totals the monetary value of every weapon and item the player owns, in addition to their raw gold. This discourages using powerful weapons (because they're worth far more), severely limits your promotion options and stat booster use (as they're worth a ton of gold), [[ViolationOfCommonSense bizarrely encourages NOT selling]] ShopFodder (as items are sold for half their value, Gems are worth double if left unsold) and turns the Silver Card into a GameBreaker (everything bought at half price is essentially free Funds). Players who like Dart and the Lords are also left in the lurch, as their unique promotion items are worth so much that using any will demolish your Funds ranking.
*** Finally, a bug means the Hector Mode exclusive chapters have 0s for all their rank thresholds. In practice, this means the supposedly HarderThanHard mode is more lenient for Exp and Funds, but much tougher for Tactics (especially as one of the Hector-exclusive maps is an 8-turn Defend mission with no way to end it early).
