** Outside of the Minecraft content creation circle, there's a significant enough fandom overlap with ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'' for fans to accidentally use the c!-prefix on TOH characters, and with ''Theatre/SixTheMusical'' for there to be a bizarrely [[Memes/DreamSMP memetic]] joke-crossover AU between the two fandoms.

* CrossoverShip: Quackity has been jokingly shipped with LetsPlay/{{Etho|sLab}} from ''WebVideo/{{Hermitcraft}}'' as a result of [[https://www.tumblr.com/mcytblrsexymen the MCYTblr Sexyman bracket]], as if there weren't already enough Quackity ships based in the DSMP canon. During Round 4 of the bracket, the 'Ethogirls' proposed an alliance with 'Quackblr' so that they vote for each other's beloved creator-characters in the polls; [[https://www.tumblr.com/minecraftrelatedrandomness/709023089671995392?source=share somewhere along the way]], it snowballed into jokes that the two communities were in gay love with each other, and cue the CrackShip.

** By the end of Volume 1, the [=SMP=] feels less like a ''Minecraft'' roleplay server and more like TorturePorn written by several people in ''Minecraft''. Tommy dies in prison forgiving Dream, his ''abuser'', for all the heinous shit he's pulled, Dream has [[KarmaHoudini effectively gotten away]] with ruining the lives of several people on the server, Technoblade would die without any comeuppance for his acts of terrorism and murders[[note]](Though, this is mainly because of the [[TheCharacterDiedWithHim content creator's death]])[[/note]], several people would kill themselves over fake evidence about the kidnapping of Puffy on a party hosted for her while she would be corrupted by the Egg's influence, the Egg would hatch soon after and the entirety of the server would get [[NukeEm nuked]] in an attempt made by Tommy and Tubbo to kill Dream, which would be sabotaged by Jack to try and kill Tommy, leading to Tubbo and Jack getting trapped in the prison a room away from Tommy and killed. In general, [[RocksFallEveryoneDies a majority of the server basically lived horrible lives]] (Tommy and Tubbo in particular) [[RocksFallEveryoneDies and died for it without any redeeming factors]], regardless of whether or not they learned something or ''got'' a conclusion to their story. Even the people who managed to survive the Volume were negatively affected in some way, and you can count all the people who lived on one hand.

* AccidentalInnuendo: Quackity's livestream VOD "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TUYPsi5n2o Quackity Does George Lore]]" becomes slightly more awkward when it's revealed in the stream that character-George's full name apparently really is ''George Lore''.

** From the Manburg arc, specifically in relation to character-Schlatt, [[TestosteronePoisoning toxic masculinity]] is bad and harms not just oneself, but everyone around them.

** Aside from his allegedly canonical PTSD from his DarkAndTroubledPast, as of Season 3, several ''more'' of character-Quackity's traits can [[https://www.tumblr.com/ladyddanger/695132733016571904/lasnevadaslaborunion point]] [[https://www.tumblr.com/saezuuuri/667128373058895872/more-in-the-tags-0 towards]] him having [[https://www.choosingtherapy.com/bpd-symptoms/ borderline personality disorder (BPD)]], which has a strong link to childhood trauma and is sometimes comorbid with PTSD. These traits include an extreme fear of abandonment and frantic attempts to avoid it (real or imaginary), a pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships, impulsivity to the point of potentially being self-destructive, an unstable self-image or sense of self, intense anger and outbursts, being TheParanoiac, all-or-nothing thinking, etc.
** Aside from C-PTSD, according to various Twitter-based fans, character-Tommy also shows some symptoms that could indicate ADHD, such as [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny a very short attention span]], a non-existent brain-mouth filter, extreme emotional responses for both positive and negative emotions, and difficulty articulating himself, especially in stressful situations.
** Wilbur's content creator counterpart has stated in a Reddit comment that his character "was suffering from intense paranoia and delusions". Based on this piece of WordOfGod, some fans have suggested that character-Wilbur has some form of psychosis alongside semi-canonical depression.

%%** It's implied character-BBH's time as one of the members of the Eggpire may have left him with some form of SplitPersonality disorder. When Seapeekay agrees to go on a tour set up by Ponk and BBH and meets up with the latter the following day, Bad has no recollection of ever meeting Seapeekay and acts as if he's meeting him for the first time. When Foolish stops Bad as he's leading CPK down to the room containing the Egg, Bad seemingly switches back to normal and has no clue why they are even down there in the first place.

** A highly uncommon take interprets [[PresidentEvil Schlatt]] in this way, claiming that he was justified in having Tubbo executed for treason at the Manburg Festival and was somehow justified in [[KickTheDog mistreating]] [[BadBoss everyone]] [[DomesticAbuse around him]]... even though Schlatt was a totalitarian dictator with the ''mentality'' of a totalitarian dictator, never expressed remorse for his actions (alive or as a ghost), ''and'' his abusive actions still [[TraumaButton strongly affect his victims to this day]] canonically. This stance appears to be only ''slightly'' less controversial than that of character-Dream apologists, but only because character-Schlatt apologists are much fewer in numbers and thus tend to fly under the radar more. Another minority in the fandom justifies Schlatt's actions with his struggles with substance abuse. Nevertheless, many fans find this a flimsy excuse since what characterized Schlatt in his villainy isn't his addictions and vices, but rather, his abusive actions regardless of whether he's under the influence, which might ''explain'' his actions but doesn't actually justify them.

* {{Woolseyism}}: The episode versions of several Dream SMP livestreams have been rereleased on Quackity's Spanish [=YouTube=] channel with Mexican Spanish captions, with some minor changes. For instance, in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFSG6_IiApc the first "Las Nevadas" episode]] (the 16 March 2021 one), instead of being addressed by Schlatt as his "sugar pumpkin" in his note, character-Quackity gets called "''mi amorsito precioso''" and "''mi cariñito precioso''" (roughly "my precious sweetheart" and "my precious love/dear", respectively, with diminutives).

** In Season 1, L'Manburg was founded to be a nation with a staunch stance against tyranny and police brutality, and intended to stand as a "special place" for people to be free from it. Unfortunately, its advocation for freedom labelled it as a "freedom flag" and thus attracted attention from the alt-right, who waved the L'Manburg flag on the same pole as a [=Trump2024=] flag during a London protest in late July 2021 against vaccinations against [[UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic COVID-19]] from the government (to help mitigate, you know, a ''global pandemic''), which they saw as "tyrannical", [[CowboyBeBopAtHisComputer without even knowing the context behind the flag]]. 3 of the 4 founders of L'Manburg (Wilbur, Tommy, and Tubbo) found this absolutely hilarious, and when this got on the ''[[https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/gaming/someone-brought-a-dream-smp-minecraft-flag-to-an-anti-vax-rally/ar-AAMwvP6?ocid=cf-link news]]'', Quackity's (a later member of L'Manburg) response was to [[https://twitter.com/Quackity/status/1420936436002344963 announce]] that Las Nevadas, his country on the SMP at the time, was offering free vaccinations.

** [[Characters/DreamSMPQuackity Quackity]] manages to subvert his ButtMonkey status post–Manberg vs. Pogtopia. Once the TheDragon to [[Characters/DreamSMPJschlatt Jschlatt]] whom he helped win the presidential election, Quackity would end up double-crossing his boss after a long string of mistreatment and abuse, before joining up with Pogtopia in order to help take down the maniacal dictator. Becoming enraged at [[Characters/DreamSMPTechnoblade Technoblade]] for pulling a last-minute betrayal and bombing L'Manberg, Quackity establishes the Butcher Army alongside his fellow L'Manberg citizens in order to hunt him down, with him almost succeeding in such thanks to pulling a fast one on the warrior by holding his prized horse Carl for ransom. Having lost his inital battle with Technoblade, Quackity, now scarred, begins building up a new country known as "[[Characters/DreamSMPLasNevadas Las Nevadas]]", electing himself as ruler. Looking to find worthy allies to assist him in the process, Quackity begins to implore sleazy tactics in order to get what he wants, whether it's blowing up Purpled's prized UFO, or allowing Foolish to be sacrificed and killed in the Red Banquet, all for the sake of proving a point. Showing himself to be a formidable foe through and through, Quackity proves that no matter the obstacles or setbacks, he will rise up against the odds and get what he wants.

** During one stream on the SMP, Tommy finds himself forced to go through a sadistic game run by Quackity, who was aided by Tubbo, in order to save his pet cow Henry. When he's led to believe that Tubbo just killed Henry (well, [[ItMakesSenseInContext a cow that represented Henry and whether he would live or die]]), [[TheDogBitesBack Tommy proceeds to finally snap]], going beserk even as Quackity tries to dissuade him by claiming Henry was never in any danger, and proceeds to murder Tubbo many times before finally hunting down Quackity to give him the beatdown of his life. Considering how much of a CardCarryingVillain Quackity was acting like at the moment, seeing him finally get thrashed by a vengeful Tommy is nothing short of satisfying, as is Tommy repeatedly killing Tubbo for his helping Quackity. What makes this even cooler is that Tommy, who is [[MemeticLoser normally considered not as good at PVP among the other SMP players]], completely ''[[CurbStompBattle curb-stomps]]'' Quackity.

* InferredHolocaust: The many [[NukeEm detonations]] of L'Manburg pose horrible implications for fans who engage in [[Memes/DreamSMP "Citizen POV"]] content; under the interpretation that unnamed civilians live on the DSMP server alongside the streamers' characters, it's heavily implied that most L'Manburgians would be rendered homeless, if not severely injured or killed, as a result of the wars that ravaged the lands. Doomsday is the biggest offender -- fifteen Withers and enough DeathFromAbove to annihilate a nation to bedrock, to the point it is never rebuilt again? Jack Manifold already lost his third canon life in Doomsday, so who's to say he's the only fatality?[[note]]Yes, he died from challenging Techno to a fight, and yes, he came back, but not everyone's lucky enough to have a freak resurrection.[[/note]] At least Wilbur canonically said something about not wanting his suicide-explosion of Manburg to hurt anyone other than Schlatt (and himself)…

** The ship between [=BadBoyHalo=] and Skeppy is most commonly known as Skephalo, another carryover from the content creators' fandoms outside the SMP. They are also sometimes known as the [[IdiosyncraticShipNaming "Happy Duo"]], though that in itself qualifies as a portmanteau between [=BadBoy=]'''Ha'''lo and Ske'''ppy'''.

** [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChSciKtfmRO5YsjZ0MQYMcg/featured WolfyTheWitch]] is another ''extremely'' popular artist and animator, who slowly rose to fame through a steady output of Dream SMP related animatics and speedpaints.

* CaptainObviousReveal: Techno betraying Pogtopia was predicted from the very beginning. ''How'' it happened, however, was not, and in focusing solely on the obvious twist, the audience failed to see another one (Wilbur going back to his plan of blowing up L'Manburg) hiding right behind it. It's also [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] in that Wilbur was the traitor Dream spoke of, ''not'' Techno like so many had predicted. Techno was a traitor, but it was outside of Dream's knowledge.

** Although Dream is the villain of the roleplay, his intentions can still be argued to be [[WellIntentionedExtremist well-intentioned]] and understandable throughout the first season. But then, in Season 2, he [[WouldHurtAChild abused, psychologically tortured]] and gaslighted Tommy during his exile from L'Manburg (which he [[TheChessmaster manipulated into occurring]]), which alone pushes him close to the edge... and then when he found Tommy's secret stash of items in a hidden chest, he [[KickTheDog blows it up]] and drives Tommy to the brink of ''[[DrivenToSuicide suicide]]'', easily [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope skydiving off the slippery slope]] and cementing his crossing of the MEH on his way down. If it helps, during his tour of the server's history with Eryn, Eret personally cites Exile as what proved Dream to be "evil" and takes him to the remains of Logstedshire as evidence.

** [[Characters/DreamSMPTechnoblade Technoblade]] is the ruthless anarchist with a strong belief that power corrupts. Joining Pogtopia under the pretense of being able to take down L'Manberg, Technoblade quickly proves himself to be a powerful ally, supplying the rebellion with gear that gives them a significant leg up in battle. Upon learning that Pogtopia had no intention of destroying L'Manberg, but rather keeping the system going, Technoblade rebels against them, using TNT and Withers to leave L'Manberg in ruin. Going into hiding post battle, Technoblade attempts to settle down, moving past his anarchist ways to live a life of peace and tranquility, only to be thrust right back into the conflict when the Butcher Gang, lead by Quackity, comes in and attempts to give Technoblade retribution for his crimes. Enraged by this act and viewing it as a great injustice, Technoblade prepares a full-on attack on L'Manberg, using countless Withers that he had kept contained for months in case of an event such as this occuring. Teaming up with [[Characters/DreamSMPDream Dream]] and [[Characters/DreamSMPTheSyndicate Philza]], the three of them lay waste to L'Manberg, reducing it to a point that puts the country's initial destruction to shame. Establishing the Syndicate following this event, Technoblade has since dedicated his time to making sure no forms of government could ever rise to power again. Powerful, ruthless, and always managing to succeed in his goals, Technoblade proves that he can easily be your greatest ally, or your worst enemy.

** Whenever an important death happens, it is often referred to as a canon death. Because they are tied to major events like the l'Manburg wars, you could consider them to be [[WesternAnimation/SpiderManAcrossTheSpiderVerse Canon Events]].

** Back in early Season 2 (November 2020), Ranboo laid out his plans to run for President of L'Manburg, and one of those plans was to turn Purpled orange. Over a year later, in mid-March 2022, it was announced that Purpled would participate in [[WebOriginal/MinecraftChampionship MCC20]]... [[https://twitter.com/MCChampionship_/status/1501962334381559811?s=20&t=lnuqD6x74EDDMruAABj-YA on the Orange Ocelots team.]] Guess even after L'Manburg had long fallen, Ranboo's proposed policies would ''still'' come into action.

*** In particular, Technoblade as a character arouses many mixed opinions. Some people think his constant wisecracking is funny and endearing, and that he's incredibly badass with his epic speeches and combat prowess. Others think that he's ''way'' too overpowered, hate that [[DesignatedHero the narrative seems to constantly reward]] (or at least refuse to punish) him for ''genuinely'' abhorrent behavior that other characters would never get away with (e.g. Doomsday), and feel like his refusal to take anything seriously [[MoodWhiplash ruins the tension]] of otherwise really emotionally impactful scenes (i.e. the initial reunion of Tommy and Tubbo post-exile).

** Whilst Wilbur [[WordOfGod confirmed]] that he had sex with an actual salmon (which led to Fundy's birth) and Philza had sex with an actual Samsung Refrigerator (which led to Wilbur's birth), a lot of the fanbase ignored this portion of the family tree, interpreting the salmon (named Sally) as a [[HumanityEnsues shapeshifter]], and the fridge as an [[AnIcePerson ice queen]], or if applicable, [[DivineParentage Mumza as the goddess of death]]. As stated [[https://dreamteam.fandom.com/wiki/Unnamed_Samsung_Smart_Refrigerator#Trivia here]]:

*** Phil's CleverCrows have a ''lot'' of fanart made of them as well.

** Of the one-shot characters from Tales From The SMP, [[TheWoobie Ro]][[OrphansOrdeal bin]], [[ReallyGetsAround Helga]], [[CapitalismIsBad Sir]] [[EvilIsHammy Billiam]], [[ArcherArchetype Wat]][[DeadpanSnarker son]], and [[TheBadGuyWins Ran]][[EvilIsSexy bob]] all seem to have the largest fanbases.
*** Pretty much any character played by Ranboo is loved by fans, especially the [[TheQuietOne Butler]] (affectionately nicknamed [[FanNickname Ranbutler]]) and [[ShrinkingViolet John John]].

*** Early in the same livestream, Punz also said in the in-game chat (at 26:55) "tommy how dare u blow up my house". Hm... one would wonder if Tommy ''actually'' griefed two people's respective properties in the couple of days between the Season 1 finale and the funeral...

** At the end of Season 2, [[GhostReunionEnding Wilbur]] and Tommy ended their conversation saying that they would see each other soon. A little over a month later (in real world time; it would be less than three years in Afterlife-time), Dream took Tommy's third canon life, sending him to the Afterlife to indeed reunite with Wilbur... though to say their reunion went well would be [[AloneWithThePsycho a lie]].
*** In the same conversation, Wilbur claims to be horrified at the idea of keeping Dream alive to use the contents of the revive-book on him, explicitly saying he didn't want to be brought back to life. Once Wilbur actually ''does'' get brought BackFromTheDead, his descriptions of the Afterlife and [[AndIMustScream what he experienced during it]] (i.e. what he ''was'' experiencing at the time the conversation took place) implicate that he'd rather stay ''in'' the torturous Afterlife... and knowing Wilbur, [[DeathSeeker we all know what]] [[HeroicSelfDeprecation those reasons are]]...

*** On a related note, Quackity's relationship with Schlatt during the Manburg era as a whole, though having shades of toxicity, had many humorous moments throughout it, even after their "breakup", but come Season 3 and it turns out that Quackity still carries a ''lot'' of emotional trauma from the abusive aspects of the relationship, to the point that very trauma is implied to send him down the type of [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds spiral that makes it much more difficult for him to come back from]], making rewatches of the Manburg-era [=VODs=] ''significantly'' less funny.

** Special mention for Dream as well. While not a bad actor, he's most definitely not the best, as he's often a bit awkward. However, when he shines, he ''really'' shines, with dialogue and delivery on par with the best of the cast. His "white flags" speech from the L'Manburg War of Independence, for example, is one of the most iconic moments of the SMP purely because Dream sounds ''genuinely pissed off'' at L'Manburg and manages to sound like a serious threat. Later on, during the scene where Tommy tries to blackmail him with Spirit's remains, he once again manages to sound genuinely livid, and delivers probably some of the most bone-chilling lines of the entire SMP. The second speech was all improvised too, since Dream had no idea Tommy was going to try and blackmail him.
*** Since Dream doesn't stream his perspective on the SMP, his appearances are all on other people's livestreams and rely on his voice-acting and Minecraft body language. And he ''nails'' it down to the subtle body movements, which many attribute to him being a speedrunner.

* JerkassWoobie: '''''Tommy.''''' Tommy is a rude, abrasive, purposely annoying kleptomaniac who lashes out constantly, but [[TraumaCongaLine he's been put through the wringer over and over and over again]]. He's lost two canon lives in a war at [[ChildSoldiers age 16]], been exiled, watched his surrogate older bother's mental health spiral until he blew up their home and died from SuicideByCop, been exiled ''again'' and horrifically abused, watched the man he trusted to keep him safe team up with his abuser and destroy his home beyond repair, been kidnapped by his abuser and nearly watched his best friend be murdered in front of him, got trapped with his abuser for a week and was then beaten to death, spent two months in a torturous PersonalizedAfterlife before being revived, then watched another friend die in front of him while trying to kill his abuser.
** The fact that Tommy is a {{Jerkass}} (albeit [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold one with a Heart of Gold]]) makes him, paradoxically, ''more'' vulnerable to Dream's abuse. While some were vocally opposed to Tommy's exile, many others saw it as comeuppance, or were relieved that he wasn't their problem anymore, and Techno, Sapnap, Lazar and Quackity even came to visit ''with the express purpose of mocking him''. While none of them knew that Tommy was being abused, the fact that they mocked him for being in his situation only served to make him even more susceptible to Dream's subtle insistence that nobody cared about him anymore, and more hostile to visitors who ''did'' come visit with good intentions.

Called this in reference to their tendency to use copious amounts of AutoTune for various gags throughout ''LetsPlay/TheFunniestMinecraftVideosEver'', and also in light of the revelation that Charlie Slimecicle plays a part in Quackity's "Las Nevadas" lore along with Wilbur.

* NeverLiveItDown: Wilbur is often referred to as a "[[BestialityIsDepraved fishfucker]]" for the strange chain of events that led to Fundy's birth, even though it was only brought up a few times in the SMP. To be fair, the absurdity of the situation alone, as well as the fact that Wilbur the content creator was quite adamant about Sally the Salmon not being a shapeshifter and being an ''actual'' fish, is enough to warrant MemeticMutation. It doesn't help that two more "fishfuckers" decided to, ahem, follow in his footsteps and emerge in the ''LetsPlay/EmpiresSMP'' fandom.

** Several days after Wilbur's revival, Wilbur the content creator described how [[KillTheCutie Ghostbur]] was doing in the Afterlife, which is to say, [[AndIMustScream not well at all]]. Many fans have decided to ignore this, instead believing that Ghostbur rode the train ''past'' "[[AfterlifeExpress Jubilee Hell]]" and into a much more pleasant Afterlife than what his living counterpart experienced in death, such as being TogetherInDeath with the previous incarnations of [[SweetSheep his pet sheep, friend]], meeting up with [[DroppedABridgeOnHim Mexican Dream]] and befriending him, or ending up in the LetsPlay/OriginsSMP.

** In addition, with what's left of the ''WebVideo/SMPEarth'' and ''WebVideo/SMPLive'' fandoms, as well as the ''LetsPlay/OriginsSMP'' fandom, due to the overlap in content creators.

** Twins Duo (Wilbur and Techno). Called this because in the Sleepy Boys Inc. family dynamic (see below), Wilbur declared him and Techno twins, with Techno being older by two minutes. Although this has been retconned out of canon, it's still a fairly popular dynamic in fan works.
