** Rook, is he an earnest man, who wants to do well as a teacher, but is in over his head after switching his job becase of a midlife crisis? Or is he just a creep to begin with?

Deliberate values dissonance; doesn't belong here

* ValuesDissonance: In-Universe, Rook's reaction to the revelation that [[spoiler: the students and their parents know that the school is monitoring the students' social network [=AmieConnect=]]] and they don't seem to care. Emphasized more, when Rook talks about 'invading privacy' and similar... and his students have no idea what the word 'privacy' even means anymore.

** The fact that the [[spoiler: Shinigami]] will have the same last name as your character from ''VisualNovel/DigitalALoveStory''. If you played the second,... well first, and then play this it can scare the crap out of you as a character has the same name as you or your pen name.

Non-funny misuse.

Internet Backdraft is now Flame Bait and being dewicked per TRS.

* InternetBackdraft: Quite a few people hate the Rook/Arianne plot. So much so that when the game was given a LetsPlay on the Website/SomethingAwful forums, the user had to assure everyone "I'm not doing ''that subplot''."

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: A common criticism of this game is that the ending can make most of the cast this. [[spoiler:It's revealed Isabella didn't actually end her life, but actually moved away. The entire cast, plus Akira's mothers, decided to play a prank on Rook to convince him that she died so that he'd "lighten up." Thing is, convincing someone that one of their students committed suicide, then terrorizing them with emails from an unknown person blaming them for the student's death, goes beyond pranking. This is especially true when you remember a plot point of one of Akira's mothers being upset that her son was being cyberbullied... [[{{Hypocrite}} and she was in on said prank]].]]

Put Headscratchers on their own page.

* {{Headscratchers}}
** It's plausible enough that John only has one class of eight students considering it is a ridiculously expensive private school. But where are the other teachers? John never interacts with them and the kids never talk about their other classes, or for that matter to or about [[LimitedSocialCircle other students]]. Frankly, it is extremely unsettling.
** In regards to the monitoring of the students' [=AmieConnect=] posts, [[spoiler: why does the school tell Rook to be discreet, if the entire studentbody knows this is going on and they obviously don't care]]?

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Rook -- earnest teacher in over his head or horrible teacher and sadsack creep? Arianna -- calculating FilleFatale, or hopeless naive romantic who thinks she's not? Kendall -- the most awesome person ever or the most annoying person ever? Nolan -- put-upon boyfriend, or cocky douchebag? And finally, Taylor -- manipulative bitchy popular bully with no regard for anyone's feelings, or troubled teen who's bad at people skills and doesn't understand why she's losing friends? romantic girl who thinks she's not? Kendall -- the most honestly doesn't see how her behavior can be seen as a FilleFatale? Or is she a FilleFatale and is fully aware of it?
** Kendall, an
awesome person ever or the most annoying person ever? Nolan -- who doesn't let herself get trolled, only to troll people back? Or obnoxious, because of those exact reasons?
** Nolan. Is he a

no regard remorse for anyone's feelings, or troubled her actions? Or a simple, misunderstood teen who's bad at people skills and who honestly doesn't understand how hurtful her actions are or why she's losing friends? All of these are supported by one path or another.

Moving main trope out

* IdiotBall: Although clearly shaken up by it, John never follows up [[spoiler: on the disappearance and apparent suicide of one of his students with any more]] than a single email, not even bothering to ask other classmates about her condition in person. John also believes is trapped and must admit to [[spoiler: eavesdropping on Amie]] despite having only stated that he [[spoiler: assumed a disappeared student might have died *and* having been stalked by someone who claims that he could have prevented her death. Which even without Amie would be a decent reason to assume she'd died]]. There were some odd leaps in logic that lead into that trap. Also, Rook gets a lecture [[spoiler: for keeping the connection secret despite being explicitly instructed by your employer not to]] which, considering he's presumably in a temporary position, could almost certainly get him fired, [[spoiler: if anything, he could have avoided the entire conversation at that point because it's not his choice to obey policy or not]].
** It's also worth noting that if you follow the Arianne plot, she remarks that [[spoiler: the relationship must be kept secret]], only to later admit she knew [[spoiler:John, and presumably the rest of the school staff, could read amie on a whim]]. Either she's not as clever as she thinks or she doesn't give a second thought to getting John fired. [[spoiler: It's also worth remarking that Taylor can try to blackmail you with this as well, despite /also/ knowing that Amie was essentially open to the school staff anyway]].
