** Offmon is this ''in spades!''
** Haru, Gatchmon, Eri, Dokamon...
** [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DPzfP2DVwAAifgQ?format=jpg Yuujin's pose in Appmon Taiwanese site.]]
* MoralEventHorizon: Leviathan crossed it [[spoiler: when it created and placed a child AI to keep watch over a little boy with the sole purpose to gain his trust over years and then break it in order to destroy his morale should ever he become a threat, all because of a familial connection to his creator. It also crosses it when it kidnaps people from the real world and '''grinds''' them into data, all to make a body for itself.]]
** [[spoiler:What makes it get horrible is the fact that the child AI secretly gains his own 'heart' by befriending with the boy, which makes him really attached to that friend of him. When Leviathan finally makes full control of the child AI, by having him serve it to fulfill its goal, it also seems to let the poor AI have consciousness of what's going on in the final battle, including when he hurts his friend and destroys humanity against his will. Just when he's finally back to being himself, Leviathan takes refuge inside his body, only to offer his human friend a sadistic choice.]]
* {{Narm}}: The end of Episode 21. [[spoiler: Haru gets his hands on the final Seven Codes Appmon, [[WhatAnIdiot but wastes time talking and puts it in very slowly]], giving Mienumon enough time to snatch the Seven Codes from Haru. The episode ends with the group chasing down Mienumon.]]
* OneSceneWonder:
** [[TrapMaster Sakushimon]] doesn't appear nearly as much, but he's still fondly remembered thanks to his unique fighting style.
** Dantemon as well. [[spoiler: It's especially jarring given that he really DID live up to the hype, only to be [[CombatPragmatist sucker punched by Leviathan]] (which really shows how fast the story would have ended if Dantemon could assist the heroes against Leviathan).]]
** Agumon only appeared for one episode, but makes the most of his screentime especially since he digivolved into [=WarGreymon=] who looks exactly like the original, but in CGI.
* ParanoiaFuel: Everything about Leviathan. See NightmareFuel above for why.
* TheScrappy: Watson. A human side character not involved with the main plot. He is annoying, short, wears glasses, not funny and suspiciously looks like he could end up becoming part of the team later on with a partner mon, just like past seasons had their annoying side characters join the main team. [[spoiler:Thankfully he does not. He is also one of the many victims of Leviathan's plan to turn humans into data and is seen being broken down into data before being saved with the rest of humanity.]]
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: Depending where you stand within the ''Digimon'' franchise [[Anime/DigimonFrontier dropping]] [[Anime/DigimonDataSquad in]] [[Anime/DigimonFusion quality.]] ''Applimonsters'' is highly original in the franchise and anime overall incorporating a new concept of real world apps into the Appmon. A lot of FridgeBrilliance occurs as a result from the abilities used by the Appmon, avoiding {{Ass Pull}}s when past season Digimon would use new abilities from no where. The characterization of the human characters avoids the typical stale cliche of HotBlooded hero or the troubled [[TheLancer Lancer]]. The main characters are likeable due to having story arcs and expressing emotions that are relatable to viewers. The Applidrivers' relationships with their buddy Appmon are also reminiscent of ''[[Anime/DigimonAdventure Adventure]]'' and ''[[Anime/DigimonTamers Tamers]]'', as new evolutions are triggered by the convincingly strong bonds between [[ABoyAndHisX human and mon.]] Also, the series has surprisingly good humor, the show doesn't take itself with utmost seriousness and takes jabs at how silly some real life apps can be. Overall, the series is best described as LighterAndSofter done right.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter:
** [[spoiler: [[InterimVillain Sateramon]] was a pretty entertaining villain before he was finally defeated by Shutmon, but at least his chip was retrieved by Unryūji Knight, so he could have returned in the future.]] Sadly, he was basically forgotten afterwards.
** Same with Sakushimon.
** Rei and Hackmon are rarely ever involved in the plot, something that is especially notable in the first season.
** Coachmon used to be Leviathan's henchman before becoming Dokamon's Appligattai partner, so he could have been more involved such as giving the team some inside info on Leviathan.
** Mienumon in general spent most of the first season working behind the shadows and constantly spewing cryptic comments about experiments on humans, and her potential was ultimately fairly underused as she rarely ever directly fought the Applidrivers despite being a Super Grade herself.
* TooCoolToLive: [[spoiler: Dantemon.]]
* VindicatedByHistory: In its initial reveal, the show was universally hated by ''Digimon'' fans, especially the hardcore ones, calling it the equivalent of "the relative no one talks about" due to it initially appearing to pander to the mobile phone market by turning the Digimon into apps. It also had the misfortune of having to compete with ''[[Anime/DigimonAdventureTri tri.]]'' whenever the films came out. Then ''tri.'' proceeds to get hit with FanonDiscontinuity due to massive issues with characters, plot, pacing while also having massive amounts of {{Filler}} for a film series containing only 26 half-hour episodes, taking many story elements usually found in bad fanfiction and [[{{Cliffhanger}} leaving a lot of plot points unresolved when it's over.]] Meanwhile ''Applimonsters'' over the course of its run was able to tell a self-contained story and never suffered from pacing problems as much, while its LighterAndSofter tone meant that the characters can have fun without suffering from SkewedPriorities. By the time both shows finished airing, the general reception between the two shows is pretty much reversed.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The CGI used for Super Grade Appmon and above are really well made and animated which allow them to be used for spectacular fight scenes. Especially since the models allow the Appmon to look like they truly ''are'' digital monsters by also giving them a cybernetic look through the text code they have throughout their body. Special mention goes to [=WarGreymon=] since not only does he pretty much look exactly like the original ''Adventure'' [=WarGreymon=], but in CGI, he also has Binary Code throughout his body just like how the Appmon have Text Code.
* WhatAnIdiot: [[spoiler:In Episode 47, Rei and his brother develop a strategy to capture Bootmon. However, he's highly suspicious of Yuujin and warns Haru about the very likely possibility that he is a traitor, which makes Haru angrily yell at him despite Rei having cold hard evidence to prove his claims.\\
'''You'd Expect:''' Rei to warn the other members about the possibility that Yuujin is a traitor working for Leviathan. \\
'''Instead:''' He keeps it a secret from everyone else, including his own brother.\\
'''You'd Then Expect:''' Rei not to execute his strategy by relying on Haru and Yuujin to be the ones to capture Bootmon, seeing as he doesn't trust Yuujin and Haru completely refuses to believe him.\\
'''Instead:''' He trusts Haru and Yuujin with capturing Bootmon anyway, and doesn't bother to keep a watch on them or plan any countermeasures in case his suspicions turn out to be true.\\
'''Result:''' Bootmon is lured straight into Yuujin's hands, who then captures him, infects him with a virus and uses him to grind all of humanity into data.]]
* TheWoobie: Yuujin and Offmon, [[spoiler:for they did their own part of tearjerking HeroicSacrifice in the last arc.]]
