** Emile's opinions on difficulty in Pokémon games, expressed both in his own videos and on LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys, have been very contentious, especially in the wake of the discourse surrounding the Switch-era games. Emile believes that Pokémon already has a built-in difficulty setting in the form of using bad Pokémon, weaker moves, or other challenge runs. Some agree with these points, or praise Chugga for going against the usual online arguments. Others feel a SelfImposedChallenge is not a substitute for built-in difficulty settings, that having to actively handicap yourself for a challenge is a sign of poor game design, or simply take issue with Chugga's definition of "bad Pokémon" (see HePannedItNowHeSucks).

** Over the years Emile has gained flack for his negative viewpoint on Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire with him going as far on one occasion to call them the worst mainline Pokémon gameThough he followed it up by mentioning he's never played the Sinnoh remakes nor does he plan to. Many fans of the remake feel he's letting the omission of the Magma Hideout and Battle Frontier cloud his judgment of the games.

Fans quickly dubbed him a godslayer, with Chugga himself joking that he probably spared the other Pokémon at Castelia Park from his wrath by adding him to his team.

Not sure why Ghost-type moves were added. Those would actually be super effective against Misdreavus, when the entry was about Affection being immune to enemy trainers's attacks.

** Haywire the Zebstrika from VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite is divisive with fans just due to how overshadowed she ended up being the entire LP (usually shown up by Emile's Krookodile). She certainly has her fans, having some perfect IV's and admittedly getting better once Emile finally gets some decent moves on her, like Overheat and Wild Charge, while others feels Zebstrika in general is just a Pokémon that tends to suffer from CantCatchUp at higher levels and feel Emile could have chosen a better member for his team (that would still qualify as being underrated). Emile even addresses this in the LP proper, bringing up a vocal part of his viewers that begged him to switch out Haywire (many of them actually wanted Emile to break his usual "no Legendary rule" and add Zekrom to the team, so that there would still be Electric-type coverage), and even admits to having seriously considered retiring Haywire before lamenting that he really wanted to give her another chance to prove herself and try and make her work... Though by the time VideoGame/BlackAndWhite2 rolled around, Chugga admitted that like Trifecta below, he doesn't think of Haywire very fondly in hindsight.

** Pango and Croque ended up being Emile's least popular villagers in his New Leaf LP, however many also feel he unfairly chose them as the designated bad guys of the village after bad first impressions and at times had to bend over backward to keep that narrative going. To anyone that knows how the Animal Crossing games work, his treatment of Croque, in particular, is actually very unfair, as what the villagers have as catchphrases are meant to be Verbal Tics with no ill intent, and other things that they say are not only random but they can easily be seen in a nicer context. Fans note all of his villagers tend to display acts of selfishness on occasion but Emile still enjoys their company causing some to accuse Emile of being a hypocrite. As an example, Pietro wants to replace his Toy Day gift 4 days after he got it, yet Emile doesn't hold anything against him in the long run, and continues to see Pietro as a favorite. He even brings up the random dialogue in regard to Pango in episode 40, saying that he didn't want to talk about that aspect too much in order to keep the "sitcom" feel of the series intact by making the animals seem real. Even taking this into account that one is supposed to treat the villagers with established personalities, some still feel he treated them a bit unfairly, as he seemed to be intentionally twisting whatever they said to be as negative as possibleFor example, Croque mistakes him for a ghost after he returns from his long absence in Welcome Amiibo and begs him to leave him alone, and Chuggaa interprets this as Croque wishing death on him. Before that, Pango writes him a letter asking if he'd like to hang out with her, and Chuggaa jumps to the conclusion that she's trying to mug him., on several occasions even shooting Croque down or not acknowledging it whenever he actually said something nice or attempted to befriend Emile. Towards the end of the series, however, he did come to accept Croque's catchphrase as just something he says without any ill intent, and agreed to bury the hatchet with him (Pango had long since moved out by this point).

* AntiClimaxBoss: Chugga attempted to build up a big match during the tailend of VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite by pitting his team he used the entire journey in White as Blair against the team LetsPlay/MasaeAnela built in playing Black version as Whitlea. The first round Emile completely sweeps Masae's team with Roc, and the second round he wins by having a rather unfair advantage as most of Masae's second string were around 3 to 5 levels lower than Emile's team. In the end, Chugga beats Masae twice without losing even a single party member.

** Most people don't realize the inflection of Chugga's BigNo prevalent throughout his videos, is a reference to Dr. Robotnik's BigNO in an episode of WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog.
* AntiClimaxBoss: Chugga attempted to build up a big match during the tailend of tail end-of VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite by pitting his team he used the entire journey in White as Blair against the team LetsPlay/MasaeAnela built in playing Black version as Whitlea. The first round Emile completely sweeps Masae's team with Roc, and the second round he wins by having a rather unfair advantage as most of Masae's second string were around 3 to 5 levels lower than Emile's team. In the end, Chugga beats Masae twice without losing even a single party member.

** While the bios he gives to all obtainable Pokémon in his Pokémon LP's are a great source of insight as to how useful they are, Chugga's harsh criticisms of lower-tier Pokémon tend to rub their fans the wrong way. While most won't argue with them being bad in competitive play, Pokémon such as frequent punching bags Flareon and Glalie still tend to be perfectly usable in-game. This leads to their fans arguing that his opinions on them are skewed due to looking through the lens of a high-level competitive player, and that is gives casual fans the wrong impression of them.
** As mentioned above, Emile has gotten flack from fans of the later VideoGame/PaperMario games ([[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiPaperJam its crossover with Mario & Luigi) with fans of these later games (particularly VideoGame/PaperMarioTheOrigamiKing) feel he's judging the game too much for what they aren't rather than what they are.

one]]. This is especially ironic in the case of Twilight Princess as Chuggaa never finished the game until 2017.

* AcceptableEthnicTargets:
** Whenever Chugga attempts to sound dim-witted he will usually speak in a Southern drawl. In one video he even elaborates by giving his Southern accent the name 'Clint' and saying the voice has 18 cousins. It helps that Chuggaa was actually born in Arizona.
** Emile's also made a number of jokes at the expense of Mexicans and the French; crosses over with NWordPrivileges and SelfDeprecation, as Emile's half-Mexican, half-French.
* AcceptableTargets: VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar, which he will take a jab at every opportunity he can possibly get due to it being his most hated game of all time. His disdain for the game got to the point where Emile admitted he plans to intentionally force himself to relent from mocking it in the Paper Mario 64 Redux. That relenting fueled a different project -- a multi-part video series where, contrary to Emile's usual celebration of games, he minutely analyzes Sticker Star and comments on every aspect he finds unenjoyable.
