* SugarWiki/AwesomeMoment: Mary Jane admitting on the altar at [[spoiler:Lisa's funeral that her stepfather had repeatedly molested her in her youth and she disowned her family over his actions and her mother's protection of him.]] The end result had the mother crying out of guilt and shame, the father glaring at her, and [[spoiler:her]] kid brother, who knew nothing about any of this, glaring at him in response.

* NightmareFuel: [[spoiler:Lisa's]] death via a drug overdose after the guilt she felt in cheating and [[spoiler:her]] very troubled past is pretty gruesome and realistically played out, especially when [[spoiler:she]] starts foaming at the mouth.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: While Mary Jane (and virtually, [[DysfunctionJunction the rest of the cast)]] has her/their moments, her niece, Niecy, is a better example. Although she mostly grew up without her father and is a single mother of two, she feels that she's owed something because of her circumstances. Aside from being morbidly obese (which unfortunately could make her unsympathetic alone), she has a huge chip on her shoulder, [[NeverMyFault rarely takes responsibility for her actions]] and has virtually no ambition for herself. Even in the third season finale, after she's pulled over by the police for blasting her music too loudly and driving without any license plates (the latter which is illegal just about ''everywhere''), she mouths off to them, tries to drive away and once being ordered to step out of the car, thinks it was a good idea to shove one of the officers, causing him to taser her. Even though in-universe it's treated like a case of PoliceBrutality and she's given compassion, the fans don't agree.
