It helped that fans of this installment would come compare its approach to parody to that of ''WesternAnimation/{{Velma}}'' during the height of that show's backlash a few years later, as ''Velma'' would come to be widely panned by ''Scooby'' fans for being [[TooBleakStoppedCaring too overtly mean-spirited]] and [[ShallowParody seemingly having little respect for even the basics of the franchise]], resulting in a positive reevaluation of this incarnation by the wider fanbase.
