* BetterThanCanon: Thanks to the characterization the Titans receive, the CharacterDevelopment undergone by Viv and San throughout the story, better-realized human characters, and well-executed action sequences (among other things), there are some readers who consider ''Abraxes'' to be a better than ''Film/GodzillaVsKong'' as a follow-up to ''Godzilla: King of the Monsters'', to the point that some wish ''Abraxes'' was canon to the Franchise/MonsterVerse itself.

** After Alan Jonah's KarmaHoudini at the end of ''King of the Monsters'' for all the crimes he committed during the movie, and after the suffering he puts Viv and San through in this story's first act; seeing him undergoing a slow SanitySlippage in [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13357907/6 Chapter 6]] and also seeing Viv and San get one over on him verbally does feel pretty good.

** On the same line as the above, it's very satisfying for everyone who despised Emma in ''King of the Monsters'' and who were unimpressed by the filmmakers' poorly-written attempts to make her sympathetic or noble despite everything she's done; when her own daughter and ex-husband give her posthumous TakeThatScrappy treatment in Chapter 12 and acknowledge her as anything ''but'' a role model.

** Does [[spoiler:Ni/Elder Brother]] genuinely have a narcissistic lust to rape Monster X and indulge in Vivienne's resulting rage, or is he just [[spoiler:taking advantage of torture methods that will psychologically agonize and traumatize humans, which he and his brothers have learned from the Many's HiveMind]]? What we do know is [[spoiler:Ghidorah intends to use Vivienne as an IncestIsRelative BabyFactory for monsters, and it wants to break her down until she's just another AxCrazy piece of the Golden Demise]].

** Esfir is evidently aware of [[spoiler:the Zmeyevich's not-quite-human nature]] when tending her baby bump, and she bemoans the death of [[spoiler:her three "husbands"]]. Is this behaviour due to her child having a kind of DemonicPossession effect on her psychically, or is indicative that she's fallen into a kind of proxy StockholmSyndrome?

** A purely psychological/verbal rather than physical example; but for those who hated Mark in his movie appearances and/or who thought his sympathetic qualities did not outweight or justify his jerkassery, it can feel like a breath of fresh air to watch Mariko shut down Mark's tirade with an absolutely scathing but accurate ReasonYouSuckSpeech. It can also on the same line be satisfying to see that Mark is now paying for his past behavior due to OnceDoneNeverForgotten among Monarch.

** In Franchise/MonsterVerse canon, Admiral Stenz is the only one of the three returning human characters from the [[Film/Godzilla2014 2014 film]] who isn’t killed off in ''Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019'' (although he has a death scene that was deleted, and an UncertainDoom in the film's novelization). In ''Abraxas''' AlternateContinuity, if Serizawa is indeed [[spoiler:reincarnated as Manda]], then Stenz is the only one of the three who's KilledOffForReal (the author confirmed [[https://archiveofourown.org/comments/327211573 here]] that he's staying dead).

** Once ''Godzilla vs. Kong'' came out, it turned out the filmmakers had the same idea as Hrodvitnon did in ''Abraxas''; about San's severed head essentially birthing another classic Toho Kaiju, which houses the head's consciousness and which furthermore possesses red-colored energy powers.

** Mechagodzilla's introductory scene in ''Godzilla vs. Kong'' becomes this in light of the FinalBattle in ''Abraxas''. [[spoiler:Ghidorah's last surviving head]] is killed by Monster X the same way the Mecha killed Skullcrawler Number 10, but here Ghidorah's severed head is [[spoiler:on the ''receiving'' end instead of sort-of being the punisher]].

* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: Alan Jonah is a calm SmugSnake who basically orchestrates experiments that would probably make [[Sandbox/MengeleUsefulNotes Mengele]] look forward to seeing him in Hell, and he previously caused millions of deaths around the world with his actions before the fic's start; Ghidorah is 2/3 a [[TheSociopath Sociopathic]] OmnicidalManiac which has literally wiped entire worlds clean of life before coming to Earth to do the same to us, nevermind its plans to break down and torture Vivienne ''horrendously''; and [=MaNi=]/Elder Brother is a part-Ghidorah, part-Many monster whose lack of wits and gleeful propensity for inflicting only the most heinous forms of ColdBloodedTorture on Viv and San arguably makes him the single biggest HateSink in the entire story. But all three of these antagonists, ''even [=MaNi=]''; even if they all have a big of Hate Sink about them, their personalities and [=MaNi's=] design at least make them ''memorable'', unlike... Who was he again? Oh yeah, Guard B-04, who is accurately described by Vivienne as nothing more than a juvenile thug -- compared to the above three monsters, his only crimes amount to viciously and crudely heckling Vivienne for his own amusement whilst she's in no position to fight back and ''mocking a little girl's grief at her HonoraryAunt[='s=] death'', basically he's that prick who everyone in RealLife probably encountered at some point in high school.
* LoveToHate: San's two brothers (especially Ichi/Eldest Brother, the middle head) remain just as sociopathic and monstrously cruel here as the Golden Demise has ever been; but this fic also delves more into the three heads' independent personalities and abusive codependent relationships with each-other, and it explores a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds expansion of Ghidorah's backstory, giving Ghidorah a lot of new character depth. It probably also makes Ichi and Ni interesting and rewatchable (re-readable) villains that they display distinct personalities and speech patterns, including in Ichi's case a sophisticated sense of FauxAffablyEvil. This is in addition to Ghidorah exhibiting EldritchAbomination levels of EvilICool throughout the story, including a BrownNote effect, MasterOfYourDomain and the creation of [[UndeadAbomination the Many]]. At the same time, reading Ichi and Ni relentlessly and horrifically pull out any stops to [[spoiler:try and push Vivienne down a StartOfDarkness, even if that means murdering their own Youngest Brother's shed skin without remorse, and also reading them plot to torment as many of their foes as possible with the deaths or [[FateWorseThanDeath worse]] of their loved ones before putting said foes out of their misery]], makes us root against Ichi and Ni and look forward to their downfall.

** Jonah crosses it when he uses Viv and San as guinea pigs for testing ammunition due to their HealingFactor. InUniverse, Vivienne certainly feels he's absolutely crossed the line when it's revealed in Chapter 6 [[spoiler:that he's been using the mercenaries' refugee labor as unwilling test-subjects for experiments with Ghidorah's DNA]].

** [[spoiler:Susan Graham]] is so far shaping up to be this. [[spoiler:The apparent death of Vivienne -- her only daughter, and seemingly the only living family she had left after her husband's death over forty years ago -- reduced her to a shell; who spends over a month at Vivienne's old bedroom, largely lost in memories. And when Monarch attempts to make Susan aware of Vivienne's true fate and that she's alive, suffice to say it goes very wrong. Then, when Susan finally manages to reconcile both what her daughter has become and Vivienne's new brother, Viv and San get kidnapped by [=MaNi=]/Elder Brother right in front of Susan (and bear in mind, this woman has a heart condition which practically hospitalized her when she first freaked out over Monster X)]].

** After the suffering Jonah has put Viv and San through in the story's first act, seeing him undergoing a slow SanitySlippage in [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13357907/6 Chapter 6]] and also seeing Viv and San get one over on him verbally does feel pretty good.

* LoveToHate: On top of Ghidorah's EvilIsCool representation from canon; its extra characterization in this story (especially Ichi/Eldest Brother's malice [[spoiler:towards Monster X]]) and Ghidorah's [[spoiler:plan to turn Vivienne into a hopelessly AxCrazy cudgel of its will]] are enough to ensure the readers still enjoy Ghidorah's personalities, while also rooting against its goals and wanting to see Viv and San triumph over and defeat it.

** San too. Interestingly, even before his HeelRealization, he fails to qualify for a JerkassWoobie since he genuinely doesn't understand why his actions make his new sister so upset, and literally everyone he kills between the fic's beginning and his Heel Realization was not only an AssholeVictim but directly provoked him to it; although San-2/Youngest Brother's behavior demonstrates that San very much had the potential to make himself a Jerkass Woobie if the right circumstances had arisen before his CharacterDevelopment began. Anyway; San and his brothers already share a CryForTheDevil origin story, and [[spoiler:whilst Ichi/Eldest Brother and Ni/Elder Brother became almost irredeemably evil, San grew curious about the alien "little ones" and other small, technological species, which angered his brothers who were [[BigBrotherBully Big Brother Bullies]] toward him ever after]]. For what could've been ''billions'' of years, San was starved of affection while attached to his brothers. And immediately after he gets a new sibling in the form of Vivienne who is better than his brothers, she for the first several months doesn't trust him, and he shares in a lot of, if not all, of her TraumaCongaLine.

* JerkassWoobie: San-2/Youngest Brother can be seen as this. He remains aligned with his brothers' evil deeds and exhibits no remorse over them, he isn't above cruelly teasing [[spoiler:Monster X]] (although he individually never takes it half as far as his brothers do), and his affection for Vivienne is described as being more like that for a favorite toy than for a fellow living creature. That being said, he is literally San as the latter was before his CharacterDevelopment, down to San's pre-fusion {{Woobie}} points (see below), San's genuine IJustWantToBeLoved, and the potential for a HeelFaceTurn if he became separated from Ghidorah and experienced the right moulding -- and what's worse, because Vivienne already has San-2's doppelganger as her brother, San-2 can never experience the same emotional belonging with her that the main San has. [[spoiler:It becomes all the more tragic when San-2 pulls a RedemptionEqualsDeath during the climax by helping the heroes kill Ghidorah]].

** With Ghidorah (San's brothers Ichi and Ni), it's definitely not a case of if but when they cross it. They destroyed numerous worlds before arriving on Earth (San and Ni/Elder Brother could probably be excluded from this MEH, due to San's [[TheAtoner Atoner]] CharacterDevelopment coupled with the implication Ichi/Eldest Brother was the trio's leader); Ichi/Eldest Brother ordered San to transform Vivienne out of utter spite with the intention of granting her a FateWorseThanDeath; [[spoiler:and Ghidorah has been attempting vicious MindRape and BreakThemByTalking on Viv and San (this might count as an MEH specifically for [[EvilDoppelganger San-2/Youngest Brother]])]].
*** The absolute latest possible MEH crossing for [=MaNi=]/Elder Brother is when [[spoiler:he mercilessly and ferociously tortures Vivienne while using RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil psychology, and he attempts to kill San in front of her the same way Ichi originally killed her]].

** San can be seen as an interesting, formerly semi-villainous example; who individually doesn't quite cross into [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Destroyer of Worlds]] territory because he isn't as personally motivated as his brothers are to be an OmnicidalManiac, nor does he ever exhibit the [[{{Jerkass}} behavior type]] of a JerkassWoobie (although San-2/Youngest Brother's behavior indicates San did have the potential to do so if the right circumstances had arisen before his CharacterDevelopment began). San and his brothers already share a CryForTheDevil origin story, and [[spoiler:whilst Ichi/Eldest Brother and Ni/Elder Brother became almost irredeemably evil, San grew curious about the alien "little ones" and other small, technological species, which angered his brothers who were [[BigBrotherBully Big Brother Bullies]] toward him ever after]]. This track fits right in alongside the four main Kaiju's Music/BearMcCreary[=-=]composed [[AwesomeMusic/MonsterVerse themes]] in ''Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019''; and in ''Abraxas''' context it particularly sounds like a benevolent if melancholic counterpart to Ghidorah's {{Leitmotif}} in the movie, making it very appropriate for Monster X.

*** Ren feeling jealous of Vivienne in [=AbraxasVerse=] becomes a bit more hilarious in light of the novelization's account of the Franchise/MonsterVerse-canon Ren's villainous motivations. In ''Abraxas'', Vivienne gets forcibly transformed from a human into a new Titan by San's severed head and at first has a few StagesOfMonsterGrief about it. In the ''Godzilla vs. Kong'' novelization, the [=MonsterVerse=] version of Ren is a GodhoodSeeker who actively ''wants'' to use San's head to wield a Titan's power through Mechagodzilla, but he only gets to do it briefly before the head in question kills him (or, in his novelization DiesDifferentlyInAdaptation, Ren seemingly gets to become part of Mechagodzilla's consciousness at the price of the loss of his identity).

** Jonah stating "Long live the king" in response to King Ghidorah taking over the Titans in the movie becomes this due to his fate in this story. His line in the film was somewhat sarcastic, but in ''Abraxas'' he gets [[spoiler:turned into a Ghidorah-worshipping fanatic]].

** The ''Godzilla vs. Kong'' {{novelization}} upped the above, bearing some '''striking''' similarities to plot elements of ''Abraxas'' that were posted months earlier. The novelization too opened up with criminals taking up residence in an abandoned complex in [[spoiler:Russian]] territory, and it also happened to feature a Monarch operative who survived the destruction of not just any one of the seventeen-plus outposts during the Mass Awakening but ''Outpost 58'' specifically! One has to wonder if great ''Godzilla''-fan minds really think alike or if Greg Keyes[[note]]The ''Godzilla vs. Kong'' novelization's author[[/note]] has been reading ''Abraxas'' online.

** Overlapping with HilariousInHindsight, watching San -- specifically the consciousness in the head Godzilla ripped off -- get CharacterDevelopment towards a full HeelFaceTurn in this story has become this following the release of ''Film/GodzillaVsKong''; in which San's consciousness has if anything experienced TookALevelInJerkass when controlling Mechagodzilla ([[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation assuming you believe it was San alone without Ichi and Ni's influence in the severed head's brain]] in [=MonsterVerse=] canon).

** Jonah stating "Long live the king" in response to King Ghidorah taking over the Titans in the movie becomes this due to his fate in this story. His line in the film was somewhat sarcastic, and [[spoiler:as part of the Many he's been turned into a Ghidorah-worshipping fanatic]].

Something rather similar would ultimately end up happening in ''Film/GodzillaVsKong'', [[spoiler:in which malevolent humans toying with Ghidorah's remains end up screwing themselves when Ghidorah becomes reborn within Mechagodzilla]].

** Watching Godzilla and Scylla team up in [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13357907/15/ Chapter 15]] is this, following the release of the [=MonsterVerse=] graphic novel ''Godzilla Dominion'' where Godzilla and Scylla's post-''King of the Monsters'' interactions are… friskier. The team-up gets even more hilarious in light of this when one considers [[https://hrodvitnon.tumblr.com/post/648764829724819456/ the author's suggestion]] that Kraken probably didn't answer Godzilla's summons out of simple lack of enthusiasm, and what that suggests about what terms Scylla is on with Godzilla in Abraxas-verse.

* TakeThatScrappy: Emma Russell posthumously remains unforgiven by Vivienne and her own daughter especially for her actions. In Chapter 12, Madison and Mark's criticisms of her mother's actions subtly include things that audiences found made Emma UnintentionallyUnsympathetic or downright detestable in ''Film/GodzillaKingOfTheMonsters2019''.

[[spoiler:San and his brothers were tortured and forcibly transformed into Ghidorah by an alien civilization who captured them, and whilst Ichi/Eldest Brother and Ni/Elder Brother were DrivenToVillainy by their trauma, San grew curious about the alien "little ones" and other small, technological species, which angered his brothers who were [[BigBrotherBully Big Brother Bullies]] toward him ever after their StartOfDarkness]]. For an unknown length of time which could've been millions of years, San was starved of affection while attached to his brothers. And immediately after he gets a new sibling in the form of Vivienne who is better than his brothers, she for the first several months doesn’t trust him, and he shares in a lot of, if not all, of her TraumaCongaLine.

** In this story, [[spoiler: Ghidorah is revealed to be NotQuiteDead and uses malevolent humans as a means of making its return to continue its campaign against Godzilla and the Titans of Earth]]. Something rather similar would ultimately end up happening in ''Film/GodzillavsKong'', [[spoiler: in which Ghidorah uses the body of MechaGodzilla to come BackFromTheDead]].

* CryForTheDevil: Ghidorah is already presented by the story as a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds by {{Backstory}} as of Chapter 10, but the further details that the author revealed [[https://hrodvitnon.tumblr.com/post/645147573238333440/ here]] about Ghidorah's origin which were only vaguely relayed to characters in the story, are definitely enough to induce this effect. San's two brothers are unquestionably an utterly evil monster of nigh-bottomless malevolence, but what's that that the TragicVillain trope page says about about the villain being as sympathetic as their victims?

** It's stated in Chapter 5 that San is "hard-wired" to act as the sentry head, first for Ghidorah and now for Monster X, which might be literal or metaphorical. [[spoiler:After Ghidorah's origin is revealed in Chapter 10, this could actually mean that San endured [[{{Lobotomy}} having his brain physically altered]] (or the neurological equivalent for his and his brothers' BizarreAlienBiology), probably while he was conscious. Furthermore, it could mean that Ichi and Ni underwent the same thing to make them malicious and psychotic respectively, in which case their StartOfDarkness is more tragic than it already appears to be]].

** [[spoiler:Susan Graham]] is so far shaping up to be this. [[spoiler:The apparent death of Vivienne -- her only daughter, and seemingly the only living family she had left after her husband's death over forty years ago -- reduced her to a shell; who spends over a month at Vivienne's old bedroom, largely lost in memories of what she's lost. And when Monarch attempts to make Susan aware of Vivienne's true fate and that she's alive, suffice to say it goes very wrong]].

* ShipTease:
** Godzilla and Mothra have one affectionate physical interaction which could be read as subtextual. Fitting since the author ''is'' a shipper.
** There's a humorous moment in Chapter 9 where Vivienne's VolcanicVeins appear like something intimate when she encounters Godzilla after her and San attain their second form; [[LampshadeHanging this gets lampshaded by Rodan]].
