* Originally, the Mythos was conceived as a SpinOff of Franchise/TheFearMythos. [=DeathlyLogic=] and [=Type0Negative=] premiered some of the key concepts (including .Reality, the Arkn and Dekn, and The Carver) on the forums of the Fear Mythos wiki. This proved to be, in the words of [=DeathlyLogic=], "a terrible idea", as the community immediately began trying to alter their concepts (among other things, they wanted to turn .Reality into a [[Franchise/TheSlenderManMythos Slender Man]] knockoff made of code, make the Arkn and Dekn human cults, and greatly reduce The Carver's powers). After a great deal of conflict with the wiki's Admins, [=DL=] and [=T0N=] split from the community and created the Arkn Mythos a stand-alone franchise.

!The Arknverse

* At one point, the Mythos was proposed as an addition (or SpinOff) to TheFearMythos. [=DeathlyLogic=] first pitched the concept on the forums of the official Fear Mythos wiki; while feedback from the community was mostly positive, they wanted to change up a number of key concepts (i.e. having .Reality represented by a physical being who could be killed, giving the Slender Man a starring role) in ways that didn't fit into the overall vision of the creators; hence, it was decided to make the franchise stand-alone.
* WebVideo/TheKnightShift went through a number of conceptual changes during its planning and production:
** The earliest idea for the series was a straightforward HauntedHouse story, completely unrelated to the Arkn Mythos. The series’ ThemeSong, “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This”, was specifically chosen because the lyrics “Some of them want to use you” and “Some of them want to abuse you” invoke themes of ghostly possession and torment.
** Another early idea for the series placed it the same continuity as the CreepyPasta story [[http://jjtninja.deviantart.com/gallery/49069075/Seven-Days-Creepypasta “Seven Days”]]. In this version of the story, Knight would have been an ordinary person ensnared by [[BigBad The Sender]].
** The Infernous/House was originally going to be called "The Dragon’s Den", to tie into [[FairytaleMotifs the series' protagonist being “Knight”]]. (This concept was retained in the series’ first episode, which is called “Into the Dragon’s Den”.)
** After the series was reworked to fit into the Arkn Mythos, it was initially intended to be a stand-alone vlog telling the story of the Hooks Killer’s Guardian Arkn. The original ending had Knight (who at the time [[KnownOnlyByTheirNickname had no real name]]) escaping from the Infernous and returning to life, only to look in a mirror and discover that he’s wearing the Hooks Killer’s mask. While writing the final act, however, [=DeathlyLogic=] decided to name the series's protagonist Ellpagg (after [[ProductionThrowback the protagonist of GlassBeetles, "LPAG"]]) and made him the son of King Uriel. He also wrote in a number of [[ContinuityNod references to the Arknangels and their whereabouts]], establishing the series as part of the Arknthology. Some hints of the original concept remain in the series, however, such as Ellpagg's "evil" voice sounding like the Hooks Killer and the final sequence of "Ephellogue" (in which Ellpagg encounters an evil version of himself in a mirror who looks and sounds like Hooks).
** An early [[https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/thearknmythos/images/e/e7/Knight_Shift_Finale_Teaser.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/800?cb=20150203045650 teaser image]] for the finale of TKS (created when the final episodes were still in the planning stage) reveals a number of discarded concepts. Ellpagg was going to be one of three Arknza, and his damnation was a [[HumanSacrifice sacrifice]] made to [[TakeMeInstead secure the safety of mankind]] (and a step up from outright execution).
*** It’s worth noting that the name of the Lord Dekn Master “X’anthr’estral” is very similar to Gilgamesh’s surname, Xeth’i’stral. It’s possible that the name was tweaked and re-used for Gilgamesh.
* ''The Knight Shift: End Times'', the follow-up (and "final act") of TKS, was planned for a two season run, focusing on Knight's connection to the Carver and his growing corruption under the Carver's control. [=DeathlyLogic=] promised that the series would feature "a power struggle, many fights, and a major death" (presumably Raziel). He also teased that the Hethe would be involved in some capacity, that Ellpagg would suffer worse than he had in TKS, and that by the end viewers would hate Ellpagg so much that "you won't even want to ''spit'' in his direction". The "prequel" episode,[[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/142658981320/davidlikestofilm-you-either-die-a-hero "0) A Message to the King"]], was released April 10, 2016. The series went on hiatus before the next episode could be released, however (due to [=Type0Negative=]'s departure and [=DeathlyLogic=] focusing on other projects). Production didn't resume until November of that same year [[note]] after [=T0N=] and DL reconciled[[/note]]...only to be halted ''yet again'' when [=Type0Negative=] and [=FeralWasteland=] ''both'' left the franchise, leaving the future of the Arknthology up in the air.
** Production finally resumed in the spring of 2017, after [=Type0Negative=] and [=FeralWasteland=] returned to the Arknverse. The first official episode, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7VaYNcyZtw [11] The Fib]], was posted March 4. Before the follow up episode could finish production, however, the series was cancelled -- this time for good -- when the trio of creators once again fell out.
*** The second episode of the series would have featured a fight between the Carver and Persophelus Redgrave, during which Redgrave (in a monologue authored by [[http://penthepoet.tumblr.com/ Penthepoet]] -- a long-time fan of the franchise) would [[https://pastebin.com/9ErkKAvb reveal]] that the Arkn interfering in the lives of humans in .Reality was causing the system to break down.
*** In another episode, Ellpagg would have discovered that his {{Guyliner}} is a [[MarkOfTheBeast side effect]] of the Carver possessing him. There was a planned scene where Ellpagg (in the aftermath of his first possession "episode") tries desperately to remove the "makeup", realizes it won't come off, and magically [[EyeScream burns his eyes]] just so they will heal over without it (much to the annoyance of the Carver).
* [=Type0Negative=] planned to write [[http://thearknmythos.wikia.com/wiki/The_Broken_Crown_Saga an anthology of blogs]] relating stories of the Arknza, Uriel's convergence with Alex, and Uriel's quest to find the [[MacGuffin Blank Canvas]]. There were to be three blogs; two of them ("In the Wake of the Broken Crown" and "In the Court of the Traveling Crown") began publication, posting one and three entries, respectively, before [=Type0Negative=] deleted them (as per his departure from the franchise). While [[http://davidlikestofilm.tumblr.com/post/153845214788/1-traveler-in-the-storm many]] [[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/151534109365/2-dream-weaver of]][[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/151770528920/3-within-the-scope-of-reality the]] entries can still be read (in reblogged form), the third blog ("In the Shadows of the Broken Crown") never materialized.
* [=DeathlyLogic=] planned to release a series of "breather" chapters in ''Arknthology Stories'' focusing on Ellpagg's first time in .Reality after leaving the Infernous (immediately before coming into contact with Michael). The stories would have featured Ellpagg "unwinding" in a .timeline set in the 1980s (picking up the slang and culture of the era -- particularly the music), and would have expounded on the connection between Ellpagg and Adam Spirit.
* As shown in the TKS teaser image (see above), there were originally going to be only three Arknangels. When the creators realized they had characters who represented the four most well-known Archangels of Christian theology ([[ArchangelMichael Michael]], [[ArchangelGabriel Gabriel]], [[ArchangelRaphael Raphael]], and [[ArchangelUriel Uriel]]), it was decided that the Arknza would be a core group of four. That number was then expanded to [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Archangels seven]], to echo the Archangel grouping from Enoch I (''very'' loosely: Raguel is the only other Arknza taken from Biblical literature).
** Seraphina was originally slated to be one of the seven Arknza. Had ''Sarah Kestler Isn’t Dead'' continued, her character would have come to terms with her Arknangel status and fused with Sarah Kestler, becoming "Sarah Seraphina Kestler": the Arknza described in the prophecy as "a daughter sent to hell". After the character's writer and creator left the franchise, however, Seraphina was written out of the Arknthology (with the [[HandWave explanation]] that "Seraphina was never specifically mentioned by name").
** Chamuel (who received some of the [[spoiler: Carver’s]] Hethian power at birth and is canonically one of the Seven) was going to take Raziel's place among the Seven after Raz was killed at the conclusion of the Arkn Civil War (see below). He would have appeared in Season 2 of ''Solar's Crimson'' -- along with his father, Phoenix -- in order to build him up as a character and set up his role in the GrandFinale. When SC was cancelled, it was decided that Raziel would take part in the battle against the Carver (with the in-universe explanation being that Chamuel was too young and hadn't mastered his powers well enough to face off against the Carver).
** Michael Knight was going to have a twin sister, Aralia Knight, who would appear in Act III (then called "Severance") of ''Michael’s Camera''. She would have been a Arknangel, SeparatedAtBirth from Michael (then believed to be an Arknangel himself) and raised in captivity as a hybrid under the number "566". Her role was eventually filled by Michaelis.
* The Paradox Players were originally going to have dark counterparts in the Storn (who would have taken possession of [=Medboy456=], "Spooky Michael", ''[=Starving4Truth=]'''s [[EvilCounterpart version]] of Alex Winter, and Azazel to form the "anti-Arknza"). The plot was quickly scrapped after [=Type0Negative=] cancelled [=Starving4Truth=].
** As part of that plot, Azrael (the original Azrael, as seen in ''No More Truths'') and Xerex Storn were going to be one and the same. This is evident in "The Quest" chapter of NMT, in which Azrael identifies himself as a Storn (noting that there are "three others and myself, Xerex") and calls the Storn "Arkn gods", describing the Arknangels as their counterparts or "kin". When the Arknza vs Storn plot was canned, Azrael was [[RetCon retconned]] into Gynesis's son and an Arknza[[note]]from whom Azrael Michaelis Winter takes his name[[/note]]. At that point, it was too late to remove and re-write the chapter from NMT, so it was left intact.
*** After the retcon went into effect, [=DeathlyLogic=] planned to introduce a chapter where Azrael dies while once again defending Cedric's group from the Carver. The chapter was never completed, but Azrael's death is still considered canon.
* Before it was cancelled due to [[CreativeDifferences behind-the-scenes drama]], the Arkn Civil War arc was set to [[CanonWelding tie together]] the individual plots that make up the Arknthology. The arc would have concluded with a massive battle, with many of the key characters coming to blows over Uriel’s betrayal [[spoiler: (i.e. making a deal with the Carver to gain control over the Infernous)]]. Uriel, Raphael, and Malek's Wrath fragment (who was ready to slaughter anyone who didn’t stand behind his favorite Arkn king) would have have sided against Ellpagg and Abaddon (aided by the Carver), with Raziel and Phoenix attempting quell the fighting. At the battle's climax, Raziel would try to talk sense into Ellpagg, only for Ellpagg to kill him [[DiscardAndDraw in an attempt to absorb his Hethian power]]; at the last second, Raziel's power would have transferred to Raguel instead, restoring him to a full Arknza. The characters would have parted ways to finish out their stories, then reunited for the GrandFinale. As it stands, all of the individual series were left unfinished, and the characters all show up for the FinalBattle without explanation, the events that led them there untold.
* Speaking of the GrandFinale, several ideas were proposed for it:
** Originally, it was going to be a live-action MassiveMultiPlayerCrossover. Among other things, it would have featured Legion and Asmodeus joining the Carver's forces and Deebo revealing that he was aware of the existence of other worlds and realities (accompanied by clips from various web series, including several well-known [[TheSlenderManMythos Slenderverse]] vlogs).
*** It was also considered having De’ebo mention [[FourthWallObserver a world where he's a fictional character]] (or rather, "a world where [[OhCrap they think]] '''''[[OhCrap they]]''''' [[OhCrap created]] '''''[[OhCrap me]]''''' [[OhCrap as a work of fiction]]").
** When it became clear that a live-action finale would be too difficult to coordinate and edit together (as most of the actors would be unable to get together in person and would have to film their segments separately), it was decided to make it an animated ShortFilm. [=TORossotron=] (the creator of ''[=VoiceOfLegion=]'') agreed to do the work, animating the battle in an {{Anime}}-esque style. The project was ultimately deemed two difficult and time-consuming to execute (though [=DeathlyLogic=] has said that he'd still like to see it happen some day).
** The battle was supposed to include some humorous touches: the Carver’s skeletal army[[note]] the "Inferknights", who were briefly overheard overheard in the first episode of TKS: ET[[/note]] would have had Italian accents (because the Carver [[ItAmusedMe found it funny]]), Theater Mask (who originally had a larger role) would have announced his arrival by proclaiming, "The jig is up, Debbie!" [[RunningJoke to Deebo]], and Uriel’s first effort in the battle would have been hurling an explosive device in Carver’s direction -- and missing him by a wide margin ("Did I get him?").
** Another proposed idea was that some of the participants would get [[MegatonPunch punched so hard]] during the battle that they would ''literally'' tear through the fabric of reality (as Ellpagg has been seen to do multiple times), crashing through [[BreakingTheFourthWall multiple timelines and series]].
* [[https://www.youtube.com/user/RaMMYz621/videos jackrammyz]] (a [[http://rammyzcosplay.tumblr.com/ cosplayer]] known for heading the CreepyPasta-themed troupe [[https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcJWZIY6u-G1pGsbOE3rfPA Six Seams]]) was planning a series called ''[=COMEandSee=]'', revolving around the [[HorsemenOfTheApocalypse Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse]] as "continuously reincarnated humans with uncontrollable powers". Among other things, the series would have introduced a character called "Styx" who was the youngest brother of Death. The series ended up being put on hold, then scrapped when Rammyz didn't have the time to work on the project.
* The figure in the mask in Dr. Ellis’s office in [=ACryFromWinter=] was originally going to be an integral character who saves Alex from The Path.
* The finale of ''handprintsofthedead'' was going to be followed up by a ShortFilm called "Redgod", intended to wrap up the story of the Hooks Killer. The film was [[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/139577462640/handprints-redgod announced]] in February 2016, with filming set to begin later that month and a proposed release date of November 2016. For whatever reason, the series never materialized. However, [=DeathlyLogic=] has stated that he intends to bring back Hooks in a stand-alone (non-Arknverse) project.
** In a variation of one of the original concepts for ''The Knight Shift'', [=DeathlyLogic=] had planned at one time to make Hooks the Guarded Human of Ellpagg. There was even talk of making him the human half of Ellpagg's "fused" Arknangel self; their Arknza name would have been Adama'ntim Ell'epagi Spirit (Adam Ellpagg Spirit).
* Edgar Kharon was originally going to be (true to legend) a [[GodOfHumanOrigin human-turned-Hethe]] who "fell" and lost his immortality. Azrael (''Michael Camera'' [[NamesTheSame Azrael]], that is) was going to be a Uriel-style human "counterpart" to Edgar, created in .Reality just prior to his death. At some point, however, [=DeathlyLogic=] [[RetCon retconned]] Azrael into an original character who had merely [[LegacyCharacter adopted the identity]] of Edgar Kharon under the mistaken belief that he was Kharon’s reincarnation.
* ''Solar's Crimson'' was originally pitched as "Azrael rescues alternate versions of Michael (all of them victims of The Carver) from the Infernous". The concept was quickly dropped to focus entirely on Azrael.
** Season 1 initially began as a prequel to ''Michael's Camera'', showing how Michaelis became Azrael the Arknangel (a backstory that was only briefly hinted at in MC). The early videos established Xerex's character (revealing his backstory and his M.O.), and showed the beginning of the apocalypse of the timeline (announced by a RedFilterOfDoom, EmergencyBroadcast alerts, and sirens). DL eventually decided to tweak the series to make it a true sequel; the establishing videos were [[MissingEpisode removed]], and "human" Michaelis was explained as the result of the Infernous's LotusEaterMachine causing Azrael to forget his life as an Arknza.
** Viewers expressed interest in a SpinOff revolving around [[EnsembleDarkhorse "Spooky Michael"]] (the creepy, rabbit mask-wearing version of Michael that Michaelis encounters in the Infernous in ''Michael's Camera''). [=DeathlyLogic=] showed interest in the project, and even posted a teaser [[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/140075325230/might-as-well-reveal-this-since-i-figured-most-of image]]. Nothing ever came of it, however.
*** Had ''Solar's Crimson'' continued through Season 2, it would have been revealed that Spooky Michael wasn't a true Michael, but a manifestation of Azrael's false guilt over killing Alex. While the reveal never made it to screen, [=DeathlyLogic=] has stated that he still considers this to be the canon explanation for Spooky Michael's appearance.
** The series was originally going to run for two seasons, leading into the Arknthology finale (and a MassiveMultiplayerCrossover). DL revealed his original plans for the series in a blog [[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/155772325415/how-solars-crimson-was-slated-to-end post]].
* The "Gonersverse", a new storyline focused on a race of powerful, Hethe-spawned creatures called the [[http://thearknmythos.wikia.com/wiki/Deedrn Deedrn]] (mentioned in the WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue of ''The Knight Shift'') was supposed to debut in late 2016.
** The storyline was set to kick off with ''The Guarded Ones'', a vlog revolving around Ellpagg guarding a girl named August from Indroi Facilis (IF): a Deedrn that has disguised itself as a family curse. The series would follow Ellpagg's attempts to train his charge in the ways of Arkn magic; his efforts would have proved ineffective (due in part to his brutal tactics), and the series would have ended with Ellpagg forcibly transforming August into a pseudo-Arkn being, whom he leaves to rule Arkaissia in his absence (and cover for him when he's off hunting for the Arknza). Ellpagg (who had spent much of his time in .Reality in TheFifties observing the Kestler family) would have traded his knight hoodie and mask for a [[GreaserDelinquents Greaser]]-inspired look, complete with slicked-back hair, a leather jacket and an affinity for Classic Rock music. IF, a Carver FanBoy, would have taken an alternate version of Luke Anton (also played by Zayne V.) as a vessel -- who dressed and acted like [[TheWalkingDead Negan]] and carried a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat. The vlog was teased in an episode of ''Michael’s Camera'' [[note]]“Not that great of a situation”[[/note]], with Ellpagg informing Azrael, “I have to go guard a whiny bitch”. The cast spent months plotting and promoting the series, and filmed some [[https://youtu.be/pGWCU5LxFCk test]] [[https://youtu.be/vYA4O2KGMdo footage]] in-character. Unfortunately, the vlog was cancelled when [=DeathlyLogic=] and his co-star (who was also his fiancée) broke off their relationship.

Arkn Mythos (General)

* At one point, Originally, the Mythos was proposed pitched as an addition (or SpinOff) to a SpinOff of TheFearMythos. [=DeathlyLogic=] first pitched and [=Type0Negative=] premiered some of the concept on key concepts (including .Reality, the forums of Arkn and Dekn, and The Carver) on pages on the official Fear Mythos wiki; while feedback from wiki. This proved to be "a terrible idea", as the community was mostly positive, they wanted immediately began trying to change up a number of key concepts (i.e. having .Reality represented by a physical being who could be killed, giving the Slender Man a starring role) in ways that didn't fit into the overall vision of the creators; hence, it was decided to make the franchise stand-alone.
The "prequel" episode,[[http://deathlylogic.
[[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/142658981320/davidlikestofilm-you-either-die-a-hero "0) A Message to the King"]], was released April 10, 2016.
*** The second episode of the series would have featured a fight between the Carver and Persophelus Redgrave, during which Redgrave (in a monologue authored by [[http://penthepoet.tumblr.com/ Penthepoet]] -- a long-time fan of the franchise) would [[https://pastebin.com/9ErkKAvb reveal]] that the Arkn interfering in the lives of humans in .
com/post/139449812095/history-of-the-arkn-mythos-part-i change]] their ideas (turning .Reality was causing the system to break down.
* [=DeathlyLogic=] planned to release a series of "breather" chapters in ''Arknthology Stories'' focusing on Ellpagg's first time in .Reality after leaving the Infernous (immediately before coming
into contact with Michael).
When the creators realized they had characters who represented the four most well-known Archangels of Christian theology ([[ArchangelMichael Michael]], [[ArchangelGabriel Gabriel]], [[ArchangelRaphael Raphael]], and [[ArchangelUriel Uriel]]), it was decided that the Arknza would be
a core group of four.
Among other things, it would have featured Legion and Asmodeus joining the Carver's forces and Deebo revealing that he was aware of the existence of other worlds and realities (accompanied by clips from various web series, including several well-known
[[TheSlenderManMythos Slenderverse]] vlogs).
*** It was also considered having De’ebo mention [[FourthWallObserver a world where he's a fictional character]] (or rather, "a world where [[OhCrap they think]] '''''[[OhCrap they]]''''' [[OhCrap created]] '''''[[OhCrap me]]''''' [[OhCrap as a work
Slender Man]] knockoff made of fiction]]").
** When it became clear that a live-action finale would be too difficult to coordinate
code, greatly reducing The Carver's powers, and edit together (as most of the actors would be unable to get together in person and would have to film their segments separately), it was decided to make it an animated ShortFilm.
There was even talk of
making him the Arkn and Dekn into human half of Ellpagg's "fused" Arknangel self; their Arknza name would have been Adama'ntim Ell'epagi Spirit (Adam Ellpagg Spirit).
* Edgar Kharon was originally going to be (true to legend)
cults). After a [[GodOfHumanOrigin human-turned-Hethe]] who "fell" and lost his immortality.

The cast spent months plotting and promoting the series, and filmed some [[https://youtu.be/pGWCU5LxFCk test]] [[https://youtu.be/vYA4O2KGMdo footage]] in-character. Unfortunately, the vlog was cancelled when [=DeathlyLogic=] and his co-star (who was also his fiancée) broke off their relationship.

After the Arkn Mythos was developed, the story was reworked to fit into the mythology.

* The Arknza roster went through many changes and adjustments. As shown in the TKS teaser image (see above), there were originally going to be only three Arknangels. ** Ellpagg would also have discovered that his {{Guyliner}} is a [[MarkOfTheBeast side effect]] of the Carver possessing him. There was a planned scene where Ellpagg (in the aftermath of his first possession "episode") tries desperately to remove the "makeup", realizes it won't come off, and magically [[EyeScream burns his eyes]] just so they will heal over without it (much to the annoyance of the Carver).

** Season 1 of the series was going to serve as a prequel to ''Michael's Camera'', showing how Michaelis became Azrael the Arknangel (a backstory that was only briefly hinted at in MC). The early videos established Xerex's character (revealing his backstory and his M.O.), and showed the beginning of the apocalypse of the timeline (announced by a RedFilterOfDoom and EmergencyBroadcast alerts).

** Chamuel (who canonically is received some of the [[spoiler: Carver’s]] Hethian power at birth), was going to take Raziel's place among the Seven after Raziel was killed in the Arkn Civil War (see below). He would have appeared in Season 2 of ''Solar's Crimson'' -- along with his father, Phoenix -- in order to build him up as a character and set up his role in the GrandFinale. When the series was cancelled after Season 2, however, it was decided that Raziel would take part in the battle against the Carver (with the in-universe explanation being that Chamuel was "too young" to face the Carver).
* The Paradox Players were originally going to have dark counterparts in the Storn (who would have taken possession of [=Medboy456=], "Spooky Michael", ''[=Starving4Truth=]'''s version of Alex Winter, and Azazel to form the "anti-Arknza"). The plot was quickly scrapped after [=Type0Negative=] cancelled [=Starving4Truth=].
** As part of that plot, Azrael (the original Azrael, as seen in ''No More Truths'') and Xerex Storn were going to be one and the same. This is still evident in "The Quest" (NMT): Azrael identifies himself as a Storn (noting that there are "three others and myself, Xerex"); in that same passage, he calls the Storn "Arkn gods", describing the Arknangels as their counterparts or "kin". When the Arknza vs Storn plot was canned, Azrael was [[RetCon retconned]] into Gynesis's son[[note]]from whom Azrael Michaelis Winter takes his name[[/note]] and an Arknza. After the retcon went into effect, [=DeathlyLogic=] planned to introduce a chapter where Azrael dies while once again defending Cedric's group from the Carver; the chapter was never completed, but Azrael's death at the Carver's hands is still considered canon.
* Before it was [[AbortedArc cancelled]] due to [[CreativeDifferences behind-the-scenes drama]], the Ark CivilWar arc was set to conclude with many key characters coming to blows over Uriel’s betrayal [[spoiler: i.e. making a deal with the Carver to gain control over the Infernous]]). ** Season 1 of the series was going to serve as a prequel to ''Michael's Camera'', showing how Michaelis became Azrael the Arknangel (a backstory that was only briefly hinted at in MC). The early videos established Xerex's character (revealing his backstory and his M.O.), and showed the beginning of the apocalypse the timeline (announced by a RedFilterOfDoom and EmergencyBroadcast alerts). DL eventually decided to tweak the series to make it a true sequel; the establishing videos were [[MissingEpisode removed]], and "human" Michaelis was explained as being the result of the Infernous's LotusEaterMachine causing Azrael to forget his life as an Arknza.

Given the vast amount of material in WebOriginal/TheArknMythos, it's hardly surprising that a number of ideas and permutations ended up on the cutting room floor.

!!Arknthology

** Another pre-Arknverse treatment saw the events of the series set in the universe of the CreepyPasta [[http://jjtninja.deviantart.com/gallery/49069075/Seven-Days-Creepypasta “Seven Days”]]. In this version of the story, Knight would have been another ordinary person ensnared by [[BigBad The Sender]]. [=JJTNinja=], the author of “Seven Days”, had become friends with [=DeathlyLogic=], had actually agreed to the crossover.
** The Infernous/House was originally going to be called the Dragon’s Den, to tie into the [[FairytaleMotifs motif]] of the series’ protagonist being called “Knight”. (This was retained in the series’ first episode, which is called “Into the Dragon’s Den”.)
** After the series was reworked to fit into the Arkn Mythos, it was intended to be a stand-alone vlog telling the story of the Hooks Killer’s Guardian Arkn. The original ending was going to have Knight (who at the time was [[KnownOnlyByTheirNickname known only by his nickname]]) escape the Infernous and return to life, only to look in a mirror and find that he’s wearing the Hooks Killer’s mask. (This is alluded to in the episode "Ephellogue", in which Ellpagg encounters an evil version of himself in a mirror who looks and sounds like Hooks.) While writing the final episodes, however, DL decided to name the series’ protagonist Ellpagg ( after [[ProductionThrowback the protagonist of GlassBeetles, "LPAG"]]) and make him the son of King Uriel. He also wrote in a number of [[ContinuityNod references to the Arknangels and their whereabouts]], establishing the series as part of the Arknthology.

* The Arknza roster went through a number of changes and adjustments. Seraphina was originally slated to be one of the seven Arknza heroes of legend. Had ''Sarah Kestler Isn’t Dead'' continued, she eventually would have come to terms with her Arknangel status and fused with Sarah Kestler to become "Sarah Seraphina Kestler": the Arknza described in the prophecy as "a daughter sent to hell". After the character's writer and creator left the franchise, however, Seraphina was written out of the Arknthology and Ellpagg took her place in the septet (with the [[HandWave explanation]] "Seraphina was never specifically mentioned by name").
** Chamuel, who canonically received some of the [[spoiler: Carver’s]] Hethian power at birth, was going to take Raziel's place among the Seven after Raziel was killed by the Carver (see below). He would have appeared in Season 2 of Solar's Crimson -- along with his father, Phoenix -- in order to build him up as a character and set up his role in the GrandFinale. When the series was cancelled after Season 2, however, it was decided that Raziel would take part in the battle against the Carver (with the in-universe explanation being that Chamuel was "too young" to face the Carver).
* The Paradox Players were originally going to have dark counterparts in the Storn (who would have taken possession of Medboy456, "Spooky Michael", Starving4Truth’s version of Alex Winter, and Azazel to form the "anti-Arknza"). The plot was quickly scrapped after Type0Negative cancelled Starving4Truth.
When the two factions came to blows, Raziel would have tried to talk sense into Ellpagg, only for Ellpagg to [[DiscardAndDraw kill him in an attempt to absorb his Hethian power]]; at the last second, the power transfers to Raguel, restoring him to his Arknza status.
** After the end of the Civil War arc, the individual characters would have parted ways to finish out their stories, then reunited for the GrandFinale. As it stands, however, all of the individual series were left unfinished; hence, the characters all show up for the FinalBattle without explanation, the events that led them there unstated.
* Speaking of the GrandFinale, several ideas were proposed for it. Originally, it was going to be live-action MassiveMultiPlayerCrossover. Among other things, it would have featured Legion and Asmodeus joining the Carver's forces and Deebo revealing that he was aware of the existence of other worlds and realities (accompanied by clips from various web series, including several well-known [[TheSlenderManMythos Slenderverse]] vlogs). It was also considered having De’ebo mention [[FourthWallObserver a world where he's a fictional character]] (or rather, "a world where [[OhCrap they think they created me as a work of fiction]]").
** When it became clear that a live-action version would be too difficult to coordinate and edit together (since most of the individual actors would be unable to get together and would have to film their segments separately), it was decided to make it an animated ShortFilm. [=TORossotron=] (the creator of ''[=VoiceOfLegion=]'' agreed to do the work, animating the battle in an {{Anime}}-esque style.
** The battle was also supposed to include more humorous touches: the Carver’s skeletal army[[note]] the "Inferknights", who were briefly overheard overheard in the first episode of TKS: ET[[/note]] would have had Italian accents (because the Carver [[ItAmusedMe found it funny]]); Jester (who originally had a larger role) would have announced his arrival by proclaiming, "The jig is up, Debbie!" [[RunningJoke to Deebo]], and Uriel’s first effort in the battle would have been hurling an explosive device in Carver’s direction -- and missing him by a wide margin ("Did I get him?").

!!Arkn Mythos Chronology
* Michael Knight was going to have a sister, Aralia Knight, who would have appeared in Act III (then called “Severance”) "Severance") of Michael’s Camera. ''Michael’s Camera''. She would have been a Arknangel, separated SeparatedAtBirth from Michael (then believed to be an Arknangel himself) at birth and raised in captivity as a hybrid under the number “566”."566". Her role in the series was eventually taken by Azrael.

* Edgar Kharon was originally going to be (true to legend) a [[GodOfHumanOrigin human-turned-Hethe]] who “fell” and lost his immortality. Azrael (the Michael’s Camera Azrael, that is) was going to be a Uriel-style human “counterpart” to Edgar, created in .Reality just prior to his death. At some point, however, [=DeathlyLogic=] [[RetCon retconned]] Azrael into an original character who had merely [[LegacyCharacter adopted the identity of Edgar Kharon]] under the mistaken belief that he was Kharon’s reincarnation.
* Solar's Crimson was originally going to revolve around Azrael rescuing alternate versions of Michael (who had been killed by The Carver) from the Infernous.

to:

* The finale of ''handprintsofthedead'' was going to be followed up by a ShortFilm called "Redgod", intended to wrap up the story of the Hooks Killer. The film was [[http://deathlylogic.tumblr.com/post/139577462640/handprints-redgod announced]] in February 2016, with filming set to begin later that month and a proposed release date of November 2016. For whatever reason, the series never materialized. However, [=DeathlyLogic=] has stated that he intends to bring back Hooks in a stand-alone (non-Arknverse) project.
* Edgar Kharon was originally going to be (true to legend) a [[GodOfHumanOrigin human-turned-Hethe]] who “fell” "fell" and lost his immortality. Azrael (the Michael’s Camera Azrael, (''Michael Camera'' [[NamesTheSame Azrael]], that is) was going to be a Uriel-style human “counterpart” "counterpart" to Edgar, created in .Reality just prior to his death. At some point, however, [=DeathlyLogic=] [[RetCon retconned]] Azrael into an original character who had merely [[LegacyCharacter adopted the identity identity]] of Edgar Kharon]] Kharon under the mistaken belief that he was Kharon’s reincarnation.
* Solar's Crimson ''Solar's Crimson'' was originally going to revolve around Azrael rescuing pitched as "Azrael rescues alternate versions of Michael (who had been killed by (all of them victims of The Carver) from the Infernous.Infernous". The concept was quickly dropped to focus entirely on Azrael.

** The Infernous/House was originally going to be called the Dragon’s Den, to tie into the [[FairytailMotifs motif]] of the series’ protagonist being called “Knight”.
(This is alluded to in the episode "Ephellogue", in which Ellpagg encounters an evil version of himself in a mirror who looks and sounds like Hooks.) While writing the final episodes, however, DL decided to name the series’ protagonist Ellpagg ([[ProductionThrowback after the protagonist of GlassBeetles, "LPAG"]]) and make him the son of King Uriel. He also wrote in a number of [[ContinuityNod references to the Arknangels and their whereabouts]], establishing the series as part of the Arknthology.

* A new storyline called the "Gonersverse", focusing on a race of powerful Hethe-spawned creatures called the [[http://thearknmythos.wikia.com/wiki/Deedrn Deedrn]], was planned to debut in late 2016. The storyline was set to kick off with a vlog called The Guarded Ones, which revolved around Ellpagg guarding a girl named August from Indroi Facilis (IF): a Deedrn that had disguised itself as a family curse. The series would have followed Ellpagg in his attempts to train his charge in the ways of Arkn magic; his efforts prove ineffective (due in part to his brutal tactics), and the series would have ended with Ellpagg forcibly transforming August into a pseudo-Arkn being, whom he leaves to rule Arkaissia in his absence and cover for him when he's off hunting for the Arknza). The cast spent months plotting, filming, and promoting the series; the vlog even receives a ContinuityNod in an episode of ''Michael’s Camera'' [[note]]“Not that great of a situation” [[/note]], with Ellpagg telling Azrael, “I have to go guard a whiny bitch”. Ultimately, the vlog was cancelled when [=DeathlyLogic=] and his co-star (who was his fiancée) broke off their relationship.
** It would be revealed that Ellpagg has an affinity for [[TheFifties 1950s]] American pop culture, due to having spent much of his time in .Reality in that era observing the Kestler family. In place of his knight hoodie and helmet, he would have sported a [[GreaserDelinquents Greaser]]-inspired look (complete with slicked-back hair and a leather jacket) and an affinity for Classic Rock music.
** IF, a FanBoy of the Carver, would have taken an alternate version of Luke Anton (also played by Zayne V.) as a vessel -- who dressed and acted like [[TheWalkingDead Negan]] and carried a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat. The actors filmed several scenes in-character (including an unreleased scene where Ellpagg suffers a [[CurbStompBattle brutal beating]] from IF, who quips, "[I'm] What IF. Like, what ''IF'' I were to keep hitting you in the face?").

!The Arknverse

* WebVideo/TheKnightShift went through a number of conceptual changes during its planning and production:
** The earliest concept for the series was a HauntedHouse story, unrelated to the Arkn Mythos. The series’ ThemeSong, “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This”, was specifically chosen because the lyrics “Some of them want to use you” and “Some of them want to abuse you” invoke the themes of ghostly possession and torment. After the Arkn Mythos was developed, the story was reworked to fit into that mythology.
** The Infernous/House was originally going to be called the Dragon’s Den, to tie into the [[FairytailMotifs motif]] of the series’ protagonist being called “Knight”. (This was retained in the series’ first episode, which is called “Into the Dragon’s Den”.)
** After the series was reworked to fit into the Arkn Mythos, it was intended to be a stand-alone vlog telling the story of the Hooks Killer’s Guardian Arkn. ** An early [[https://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/thearknmythos/images/e/e7/Knight_Shift_Finale_Teaser.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/800?cb=20150203045650 teaser image]] for the finale of TKS (created when the episodes were still in the planning stage) reveals a number of discarded concepts. Ellpagg’s damnation was originally going to be voluntary, in fulfillment of a promise made to a Dekn Lord. In this treatment, Ellpagg was one of three Arknza (rather than four or seven), and would have bargained to be to sentenced to everlasting torment in place of being executed (and passing on to an unknown fate).
*** It’s worth noting that “X’anthr’estral” (a name that doesn’t appear in any Arknverse-related material) is very similar to Gilgamesh’s surname, Xeth’i’stral. It’s possible that Gilgamesh’s role was originally intended to be filled by a Dekn Lord (or that the name was simply recycled for another character).
* Michael Knight was going to have a sister, Aralia Knight, who would have appeared in Act III (then called “Severance”) of Michael’s Camera. She would have been a Arknangel, separated from Michael (then believed to be an Arknangel himself) at birth and raised in captivity as a hybrid under the number “566”. Her role in the series was eventually taken by Azrael.
* The figure in the mask in Dr. Ellis’s office in [=ACryFromWinter=] was originally going to be an integral character (who saves Alex from the Path).
