* A goof from "The Picnic", where the school bus has the school name as "Watterson Junior High" rather than "Elmore Junior High", indicates this may be an accidental leftover from an earlier point in production where the school name was "Watterson" instead of "Elmore".

* The team wanted to switch from animating the series on UsefulNotes/AdobeFlash to UsefulNotes/ToonBoom, but this decision was taken too late in production, so they would have to remake the entire asset library to Toon Boom, which they preferred not to do.

** A more downplayed example, but early preview pictures and the 2009 model sheet shown above, Anais has whiskers like the rest of her family (except Darwin), which were removed in the final show (and was likely a late change made considering she looks like herself, sans whiskers). While they're no real reason why this was made, it's assume it was done by the creators to make her look younger or cuter.

He also mentioned at one point hoping Creator/AdultSwim would be interested in some of his work, although, contrary to some claims, [[https://twitter.com/benbocquelet/status/557632076636499969 he never pitched Gumball itself to Adult Swim]] (and the claim that Creator/AdultSwim rejected the show for being "too cute" was actually attributed to the short-lived series ''The Problem Solverz'').

* Similarly, in "The Anybody", when Darwin realizes the fountain he drank water from was actually Clayton, he would say "Did I just drink his--", and Gumball would say "[[FunWithHomophones You're in]] as deep as I am". In the final episode, he just tells him to go away with him before Miss Simian catches them.
* Ben wanted to do a massive {{Crossover}} episode where Gumball and Darwin get a backstage pass from the Awesome Store that would allow them to visit stores from other shows. The two accidentally leave the door open on their way out, causing their reality to get "contaminated" with the realities of other shows. Ultimately, this idea never came to pass, and the closest thing ''Gumball'' got to a crossover was WesternAnimation/{{Clarence}}, WesternAnimation/UncleGrandpa, and [[WesternAnimation/RegularShow Mordecai, Rigby, and High-Five Ghost]]'s cameos in "The Boredom".
