** Maria Monarch ticks off a lot of boxes for UsefulNotes/AspergerSyndrome: she's generally very quiet and introverted, doesn't care much about her appearance (at least before [[SheCleansUpNicely her makeover]]), has strange vocal patterns, isn't good at speaking publicly, is clumsy and awkward, has [[SensoryOverload sensitive hearing]], behaves dramatically when under pressure, and tends to shake or jump when excited. However, we never see any of her obsessions, which is a major part of what defines Asperger's, although this could be because Aspie girls' interests generally aren't quite as unusual as those of their male counterparts. [[note]]Usually, girls with Asperger's have "typical" girly interests, such as horses, classical literature or keeping things neat and tidy, while boys will have more "nerdy" interests, such as geography, anatomy, zoology, palaeontology, science fiction etc. There are exceptions to the rule, of course, but this is more of a general rule of thumb.
