To summarize, it's kind of like VideoGame/NightsIntoDreams [[JustForFun/XMeetsY meets]] ''Franchise/{{Persona}}'' meets the ridiculously active imagination of a guy who wrote two albums about the esoteric nature of love but used to yuk it up in Music/{{Blink 182}}. Important note: despite being written by someone who previously worked on WesternAnimation/MissionHill and WesternAnimation/TheOblongs and the guy that sung about wanting to literally screw the pooch, Poet is definitely not an AnimatedShockComedy. The Poet short film is just one part of a multimedia franchise, including the three issue [[ComicBook/PoetAndersonTheDreamWalker comic book prequel]] to this short film.

If you're jonesing for similar band multimedia tie-in endeavors: compare to ComicBook/FallOutToyWorks[[note]]set in a similar CyberPunk city with nods to Film/BladeRunner, surreal imagery and cryptic presentation[[/note]] and Film/{{Love}}[[note]]Angels and Airwaves' previous feature length film based on an astronaut's attempt to stave off the effects of loneliness after [[ButWhatAboutTheAstronauts being stuck on the International Space Station]] AfterTheEnd[[/note]]. Contrast to Music/DangerDaysTheTrueLivesOfTheFabulousKilljoys [[note]]also involving a CyberPunk city with nods to Manga/{{Akira}} and surreal imagery, but considerably more grounded and gritty than Poet or Toy Works[[/note]].
