Aside from the horse bun, there really isn't anythin outstanding about Officer Bronco's patrol car. It's a pretty standard police car.

You can't really have Guinevere listed as a Cool Car as well as Alleged Car and My Cart Hates Me. They contradict each other. Ultimately, Guinevere is the love of Barley's life, but it's an Alleged Car.

* IKnowMortalKombat: Barley assumes that he's the best one to cast the visitation spell because of his obsessive knowledge of fantasy [=RPGs=], but numerous failed attempts reveal that he is no magic user. Subverted because we learn that, in this world, only some creatures are born with the "gift" of using magic, and simply knowing the mechanics of how to cast a spell isn't enough. It turns out that Barley's claim that "Quests of Yore" is based on actual historical magic is accurate, seeing how well he is able to mentor Ian in spell-casting from simple spells up to the complex ''Arcane Lightning''. By the end of the movie, the audience has no doubt that if Barley also had the gift, he would have been a very effective magic-user.
** [[spoiler:Laurel]] also counts, since [[spoiler:she]] learned enough fighting skills from cardio exercises to fight a dragon.

This is a stretch as the main overlap is the fantasy element mixed with modern day but Shrek is literally world of fairy tales while Onward is fantasy D&D in modern times. Given that Katzenberg fully intended Shrek to be his FU to Disney and Michael Eisner it's hard to see Pixar (now owned by Disney) having any desire to intentionally be a successor to Dreamworks IP especially as it's a competing animation studio.

* SpiritualSuccessor: When you think about the film's setting and how it uses many Medieval elements with modern day ones as well, it's almost like Pixar's take on ''Franchise/{{Shrek}}''.

While Aldophus speaking gibberish, the implication is that he is speaking his native goblin language and not pure gibberish. It's like Han Solo listening to Chewbacca. The better trope for this is Bilingual Dialogue. Reclassifying.

mis-use: Company Cross References is when one work references or shows a part of another work, both of which are owned by the same company, network or studio. If a Pixar film made references to Disney or Marvel, this trope could apply. However, all the references in this film are to other Pixar films, thus Mythology Gag is the better fit. In the future, if you're not sure about a trope reclassification (since the edit reason said "possibly a more fitting trope"), then open a discussion and ask.
