''Off the Air'' is a series of {{Quarter Hour Short}}s on Creator/AdultSwim. It's essentially a series of animated (and sometimes live-action) shorts centered on a particular theme. That being said, [[MindScrew the shorts tend to be very bizarre]] [[NightmareFuel and/or disturbing]].

* SomethingCompletelyDifferent: Occasionally, The show will suddenly cut without warning to a different clip.

** "Patterns" got so bad during the last video it actually aired with an epilepsy disclaimer during it's premiere, and was the first ever adult swim show to do so outside of toonami.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: And for a show like Off the Air, that's saying something. The first few episodes always opened up on old stock-footage from the 60s, accompanied by a mysterious voice whispering something ominous. By "Body" the stock footage was replaced with a regular clip and the voice spoke much less, and by "Falling" the voice disappeared completely.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: "Hair" managed to air a [[http://vimeo.com/10008482 short]] depicting real male and female pubic hair up close. While the episode was [[UsefulNotes/MediaClassifications rated TV-MA]], it's still a first for Adult Swim.
** According to the official Facebook page on the pubic hair short linked above, "There was definitely some bartering involved. Weird hair bartering."
** The ''Dan Deacon USA'' special somehow got fairly graphic and uncensored nudity on the air. Possibly escaped due to the nudity not only is technically fake (Dutch men dressed in [anatomically correct] body suits), but it was also a one time airing.

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: A few of the animated shorts tend to have people with odd skin-colors, like lavender, blue, etc.

** The ''Dan Deacon USA'' special somehow got fairly graphic and uncensored nudity on the air. Possibly escaped due to the nudity not only is technically fake (Dutch men dressed in body suits), but it was also a one time airing.

* BookEnds: Every episode except "Animals" usually has footage from an earlier segment (often the first) appear at the end.

* BleepDammit!: "Sound" censored out a URL for a site called 'friendzone.fun' (Despite it not being a real URL)... then left the URL uncensored in the next shot.

** The version of "Animals" on adult swim's website is notably darker then the version on youtube. It was likely later made darker to prevent seizures for the flashing lights during the title card.

* RobotWar: "Robots" had a short where robots marching in a parade violently murder everybody in attendance. [[MinorInsultMeltdown The reason they turned was because somebody called them crap.]]

** "Animals" and "Sound" also contain one each, Animals in particular having one at the ''very beginning of the episode.''

* DoNotTryThisAtHome: "Food" opens up with a rather unsettling one of these proclaiming "DO NOT try anything you see in this show... EVER. You might die." along with subliminal text flashing ''DON'T TRY'' and ''DON'T DIE.''
