'''''Goober and the Ghost Chasers''''' was a blatant ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDoo'' clone by Creator/HannaBarbera, which had created the original show. It aired on Creator/{{ABC}} in the early 1970s. Goober, voiced by Creator/PaulWinchell, is a dog who becomes invisible when he is scared. His human companions are Ted and Tina, reporters for ''Ghost Chaser'' magazine, and Gilly, their reckless photographer. UsefulNotes/WiltChamberlain was a guest in one episode, and the kids from ''Series/ThePartridgeFamily'' appeared in a few others. Because ''of course'' they did...

* FollowTheLeader: This show has a very distinctive part in the Hanna Barbera meddling kids trend. While it clearly is partially following after ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'', a lot of it's variations from Scooby ended up becoming more common in later Scooby installments. So it followed Scooby, yet Scooby later followed it's lead.
** On one base level Ted is essentially our straight guy leader. Tina is his beta, who is the pretty girl like Daphne. But Tina is a reporter here and not that ditzy. Daphne of course in the later years lot her "danger prone" gimmick and her career of choice was a reporter.
** While Gillie may look to be drawn like Shaggy, in reality the Goober and Gillie dynamic is actually a predecessor to the Scooby and Scrappy dynamic. As Goober would run away like a coward while Gillie stayed behind to take pictures, resulting in Goober rushing back to save Gillie.
** The RealAfterAll references would later be utilized in some Scooby productions although it was featured in Goober episodes years before any Scooby show itself used the trope.
** Lastly guest stars appear in this show as well, Something it followed Scooby in from ''WesternAnimation/TheNewScoobyDooMovies''.
* GhostPirate: They meet two on a ship, named Dink and Dunk. One is a friendly ghost, the other not so much
