It all started with a simple idea: two kids wearing superhero costumes and hanging out at a convenience store. A few years later, out of the ashes of Frederator and Nickelodeon's Random Cartoons comes the squash-and-stretchy CGI world of Fanboy & Chum Chum. The show is about two best friends who live in a water-tower atop of an apartment building with no parental supervision and the strange adventures they have in the town of Galaxy Hills. From turning into vampires, swapping brains with a robot, and taking advantage of slush-machine monster to get through a heat wave, these guys do it all.

Along for the ride are Yo (a Japanese girl with an obsession for digital pets), Kyle (a snarky wizard expelled from his old school, though no one believes him), The Oz (a comic book nerd who lives with his mother), Boog (a bully who works at the local convenience store, but is more interested in playing its arcade game), and Lenny (a sarcastic convenience store employee who hates his job).

* FriendOrIdolDecision: Happens in the superhero imagination sequence of "Super Chums". Fannihilator (Fanboy) gives Super Chum (Chum Chum) the choice of saving a school bus from falling into lava, or his girlfriend Yois Yane (Yo) from being killed by bears. He manages to do them both.

* ChromaticArrangement: Kyle (red), Chum Chum (yellow/orange), and Fanboy (green).

* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Chum Chum is the nice one, the CheerfulChild who is sweet, rather innocent, and can have his feelings hurt sometimes. Kyle is the mean one, a wizard who serves as a snarky GrumpyBear who despises anything fun, but can have his JerkWithAHeartOfGold moments, other times acting as a full-on VillainProtagonist. Fanboy is the inbetween, due to being dimwitted and funny, but can be more serious than Chum Chum.

* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Chum Chum is fairly the CheerfulChild, sweetest and can be rather innocent; Kyle is the bossy, snarky GrumpyBear who rarely joins in on anything; and Fanboy is friendly but can be more serious than Chum Chum.

* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot:
** For "Fan vs Wild", Fanboy was just one step away from being freed after sliding down the icicle hanging from the roof to the ground. Also, Kyle would've magically levitated the dropped rope up to him, hence being a wizard.
** In "Brain Freeze", Kyle is one penstroke away from being reaccepted to Milkweed, but is hung up over the fact the freezy-induced boys are going to enter any minute. The denial could've been avoided if Kyle just stopped the readmission process for a moment to get the boys to leave.
** In "Speed Eraser", the whole plot would've been avoided if Fanboy had just waited until Kyle arrived, hence being late. Also, after accidentally erasing Kyle's body with the eraser, Fanboy should've just let Chum Chum give him his wand as noted; also, he shouldn't have assumed the wand was dirty after picking it up.

** The three main grownups are this, too. Oz is a hoarder but a friend to the two boys, Boog is a bully who bops anyone, and Lenny mediates between the two, because he's always annoyed and flustered but sometimes has a soft side.
** Some of the girls are also this. Lupe is soft-hearted; Francine is stuck-up; Yo is a wild GeinkiGirl who has a warm side at times.
