As a rather interesting note, this is one of the very few cartoons that aired in the late 1990's to early 2000's that Cartoon Network still reruns on a fairly frequent basis. The series returned as a part of CartoonPlanet in 2012 to celebrate Creator/CartoonNetwork's 20th anniversary. As of March 2013, the first two seasons of Courage are now on {{Creator/Netflix}}. They were removed around May 2014 and replaced with seasons 3 and 4. As of May 2015, however, the complete series is on Netflix.

There is now a new 7 minute CGI short based on the series, titled "The Fog of Courage." A preview can be seen [[http://www.acmefilmworks.com/work/spot/courage-the-cowardly-dog/ here]]. Also a full version [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI6DDJHwNhE here]]. [[note]]It's Website/YouTube. Beware of a possible copyright takedown in the future.[[/note]]

Now with a [[Recap/CourageTheCowardlyDog Recap]] page, which could use a little WikiMagic, as well as a [[http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/crowner.php/BestEpisode/CourageTheCowardlyDog Best Episode Crowner.]] Click [[ShoutOut/CourageTheCowardlyDog here]] for Shout Outs.

This series has gathered a surprisingly large number of tropes, so we split the main page into two different ones.

In every episode, Courage and his family find themselves caught up in some form of supernatural weirdness, and Courage has to steel his frazzled nerves and save his owners from it. A refreshing change of pace from many cartoons of the day was that Courage seldom used force; more often, he relied on his wits (and [[ThePowerOfFriendship a bit of kindness]] now and then) to deal with aliens, ghosts, monsters, criminal, the military, science gone wrong, or whatever sort of freaky happenings life threw at him.
