Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

* YourMindMakesItReal: Force Illusion, with a high enough rank in the power, can be used to outright kill people with weak enough minds. There's also a school of Sith Magic which is essentially Force Illusion ramped UpToEleven, which also qualifies.

For the better part of a decade, the Sith-themed play-by-post community that ended in late 2018 under the name "New Sith Brotherhood" has seen highs and lows, but a community that brought out the best in a lot of people, to compose compelling characters, who sometimes blurred the lines between hero and villain. A mix of DisneyCanon & Legends material, the then-current, overarching metaplot stretches back to a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

It's 35 years after the Battle of Yavin. The Yuuzhan Vong were defeated 6 years ago, the Jedi Order began rebuilding, and the Galaxy started piecing itself back together after the war's end. Everything should be going fine, right? If only. During Palpatine's rule, there existed a man named Andor Vaklas, one of Palpatine's Dark Side Elite used to help manage his Empire. When Palpatine died his final death in 11ABY, Vaklas, realising the impeding power struggles, took his forces away from the galaxy into the Deep Core in search of the mythical Avernus Station, where Palpatine was said to have stored troves of Dark Side artifacts and knowledge. After three years of fruitless searching, a disastrous defeat at the hands of Natasi Daala led Vaklas to the station at last. Using the knowledge he found, Vaklas took the mantle of Darth Groznii and declared himself Dark Lord of the Sith, establishing the New Sith Order and using the information on Avernus to gather a mighty fleet. After waiting out the Yuuzhan Vong War in secret, the Sith-led forces of Groznii's Empire turned on each other, annihilating his forces and causing the deaths of both Groznii and most of his Dark Council. Out of this civil war, one man rose to prominence: Darth Xaos. Relocating from the Core to the ancient Sith world of Dromund Kaas, Xaos rebuilt the New Sith Order and began forging alliances, most notably with the Chiss Ascendancy, and gathering resources for the Sith's re-emergence onto the galactic stage.

In 32ABY, after several more bloody civil wars, the Sith revealed themselves to the galaxy at large at the head of a new government forged by Xaos' careful designs and alliances -- the Obsidian Union. The Galactic Alliance responded by declaring the Union to be an illegal insurrection and declared war. After a tumultuous beginning period ended by yet another civil war, Xaos decided the Order was beyond repair and reformed it into the New Sith Brotherhood. Now unified but still badly outnumbered and outgunned, the Union survived several major Alliance assaults and made powerful allies in the Hutts and Tionese, expanding its territory and rising to power on the galactic stage. However, this was not to last; after several years of success capped by an unofficial ceasefire as both sides gathered strength, Darth Xaos -- previously immortal due to the machinations of an ancient alchemical device -- was slain by Jedi Master Luke Skywalker after being betrayed by his wife, who herself attempted to sieze power over the (still badly outnumbered and outgunned) Union. After another mercifully short civil war, a new Dark Lord took the throne -- Darth Lucifer. The Union/Alliance conflict then resumed once more -- which is where we are today.

With a moderately-sized but slowly growing userbase headed-up by a Leadership Discussion, New Sith Brotherhood nonetheless possesses a long history, a fairly extensive Fanon, a dedicated userbase and staff, and a habit of emerging stronger each time it's almost destroyed by a traitorous important member. Sign up today; we'd love to have you!

* EvilIsOneBigHappyFamily: Though the Brotherhood would likely take issue with this phrasing, this is the goal of the New Sith Brotherhood’s founding document: the Code of Brotherhood. Interestingly, this is both played straight and averted, with the brotherhood often fighting other Dark Side force users.
