->''"Towards the end of Deadlocked, we had an interesting opportunity to create some comic work involving a new character in the franchise. For the website we created an online adventure for Captain Starshield where we split duties between drawing and painting. We’re both big fans of comics which made for a great collaboration."''

''The Adventures of Captain Starshield'' is a 6 page webcomic set within the ''Franchise/RatchetAndClank'' universe. It was created by Insomniac employees Greg Baldwin ([[JustForFun/IThoughtItMeant not]] [[Creator/GregBaldwin that one]]) and David Guertin as a tie-in for the then-upcoming game, ''VideoGame/RatchetDeadlocked''. The short story shows the [[ShapedLikeItself adventures of Captain Starshield]] and ends shortly before his time on Dreadzone.

The comic was initially released on [[Creator/InsomniacGames Insomniac Games']] official website, however it was taken down during an update some time ago. Fortunately, the Ratchet & Clank Wiki was given permission to host the comic and so it can be read in its entirety [[https://ratchetandclank.fandom.com/wiki/The_Adventures_of_Captain_Starshield#Episodes here]].

!!We, like many tropes, will always be grateful to you and your service!
* ActionPrologue: The comic opens with Starshield blowing up a villain's spaceship.
* ADayInTheLimelight: The comic focuses on Captain Starshield, a minor character from ''Deadlocked'''s opening.
* AlienBlood: The Cantor that Starshield crushes explodes into glowing, green goo.
* CanonForeigner: Every character beyond Captain Starshield himself was created specifically for this comic.
* {{Cliffhanger}}: At the end, Starshield gets a distress signal from the Shadow Sector and races off to find out the source. [[VideoGame/RatchetDeadlocked I wonder how that turned out...]]
* ComingInHot: Starshield crashes his ship onto planet Fractis this way.
* CoolStarship: Starshield's certainly qualifies. It can even self-repair!
* FangsAreEvil: Both the Kragmites and Cantors are depicted with fangs, and they immediately attempt to kill Starshield.
* FasterThanLightTravel: Starshield's ship is equipped with a hyperdrive that lets him hop across galaxies. Unfortunately for him, debris from Baron Masseter's ship damages it, causing him to briefly be stranded in the Kavorian galaxy.
* TheGhost: We never see what Baron Masseter actually looks like, as the comic begins with Starshield defeating him.
* {{Loincloth}}: This appears to be the only article of clothing that the Kragmites wear.
* NoodleIncident: Twofold:
** We never learn exactly what Baron Masseter was doing to the residents of Calzon, just that he was "bothering" them.
** Starshield's dialogue on Fractis indicates that he's faced the Kragmites and Cantors befire.
* NoSell: Starshield's blaster shots do nothing to faze the Cantor.
* OneSteveLimit: [[AvertedTrope Averted]] -- Despite having similar names, the '''K'''ragmites of this comic have nothing to do with the '''C'''ragmites introduced in ''[[VideoGame/RatchetAndClankFutureToolsOfDestruction Tools of Destruction]]''.
* SpaceOrcs: While we never actually see them in action, it's implied the Kragmites are basically this.
