* WholeEpisodeFlashback: The first half of chapter 3 is a flashback exploring Shine’s training days and why she gave up on being an idol.

* MistakenIdentity: Some Humans are unaware that there are multiples of each vocaloid and as a result assume that every vocaloid of the same type is the same person. This happens to Shine in chapter 2.2 where a human girl treats her like a celebrity because she thinks that Shine is the one and only Hatsune Miku.

* TemptingFate: At the end of Chapter 1.1, after Shine's equipment falls in the harbor, she outward exclaims that there's no way things can get any worse, just as she herself gets knocked over the side of the bridge.

* AndroidsArePeopleToo: A major theme of the setting (though it hasn't really been touched on in the comic itself yet) is the tension between humans and androids, as the humans are still trying to get used to not seeing androids as servile tools without any free will and the androids are grappling with their own identities. Taken to heartbreaking extremes in O-Len's Interlude, where he's all too aware of how him and his kind aren't seen as "real people" by human society and decides to play himself and his boyfriend O-liver up as a spectacle to avoid prejudice, only for this mentality to bite him in the ass ''hard'' when [[spoiler: his Rin is coldly shot dead by police while trying to hold up a store and hears people refer to her as an "[[ItIsDehumanizing it]]" and a "hunk of scrap".]]

* {{Fanboy}}: Dr. Yuki and Nurse Kiyoteru are this for Mikus, even waiving Shine's medical bills due to how starstruck they are by a Miku visiting their clinic. Shine herself is also a Miku superfan, to the point of becoming a paparazzi so she could get all the details about her favourites.

In this world, they're more than just computer software: Vocaloids are [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots androids]] with the ability to carve their own path, be it in the music industry or elsewhere. Our protagonist, 4N01 (or "Shine", as she's more often referred to) is a [[Music/HatsuneMiku Miku V4X]] model who has a coveted reputation as a {{paparazzi}} specialising in feeding the public's desire to know about the best and brightest Vocaloid talent there is to offer. Unfortunately she's notoriously down on her luck: while trying to get snaps of the Vocaloid influencer Princess, she and her equipment end up going over a bridge, leaving her drenched and without the means to earn an income. A chance meeting with a Miku superfan, however, leaves her with ambitions of becoming more than just another prying eye into the world of Vocaloid stardom...
