* {{Jerkass}}: Horseman is a self-centered narcissistic jerk.

** More or less the same fate befalls the fish who slept with Herb in episode 1. Even though she gets more screentime than Darryl, she quickly meets her demise (again in the form of Terry) after scaring Herb with the suggestion of spawning with him.

* DisproportionateRetribution: In the pilot episode George bit Tad [[GroinAttack in the groin]] for "looking at him funny". All while other animals were blatantly gazing at George with their eyes wide open.

* {{Catchphrase}}: George tries to get one running in episode three. It [[GoneHorriblyRight goes horribly right]].

* GoryIndiscretionShot: When Stuffy commits suicide in heaven by hanging himself, first only his twitching legs are shown. But then the rope cuts his neck clean through and both his severed head and decapitated body fall on the cloud-ground with a torrent of blood pouring out.

* GroinAttack: The pilot episode implies George is kind of fond of this kind of abuse when moments into the beginning he mentions biting his boss in the crotch and later practises the same on the quiet black dog Tad for "looking at him funny".

* GoryIndiscretionShot: When Stuffy commits suicide in heaven by hanginh himself, first only hos twitching legs are shown. But then the rope cuts his neck clean through and both his severed head and decapitated body fall on the cloud-ground with a torrent of blood pouring out.

* GoneHorriblyRight: In the third episode George tries to get a catchphrase running. After [[{{Jerkass}} Horseman]] tries to steal for his show it turns out to be offensive against invertebrates, the interviewed octopus attacks him. [[spoiler:Cut to a scene of newspaper title the next day reading: "Horseman Show cancelled. 10 dead."]]

* ReallyGetsAround: As the other members of the Doorknocking Squad in episode Zero say - sister June was ever hte wild one. It's confirmet shortly thereafter when the scene switches to George's upstairs bedroom where sister June is in bed with [[AnythingThatMoves Herb]].
** Herb himself is famous for having a plethora of sex partners of various species ''[[AnythingThatMoves including humans]]''.

The series follows the daily routine of a small short-tempered prejudiced foul-mouthed pooch and any shenanigans that befall either him or his companions. These include Terry - a hotpants-wearing bear, Kevin - a muscular black dog and Herb - a lobster working as a freelance lawyer who [[ReallyGetsAround sleeps with any female animal he sets his eyes on]] [[AnythingThatMoves regardless of species and sometimes even human women]].

* AnythingThatMoves: Herb the lobster is known for hooking up with [[ReallyGetsAround lots of females]] of various species ''including humans''.

* RainOfBlood: * The first episode begins with a [[WesternAnimation/CareBears Care Bear]] expy [[TakeThat commiting suicide]] in the sky land. His blood comes down to Earth as a "small localized blood shower" which George gets hit by. And in the very next episode another of the Care Bears kill himself after realizing his dead fellow's depression. And [[BrickJoke again his downcoming blood hits George with pinpoint accuracy]].

* BesthalityIsDepraved: Inverted in episode zero when George berates Herb for having sex with humans after the latter complains about getting "the crabs" from his latest "score".

* CarnivoreConfusion: Played with. especially in the pilot episode, the ravenous animals have no qualms about savagely devouring some others. Tarticularly Terry, the bear and fish.

* InsultBackfire: Not really an insult but in the episode Zero Terry says that George looks like shit. George having a terrible day at work calm responds with "Thanks" in complete deadpan.
