My main piece of evidence is small, but important in that there's a quick appearance by Carlos and Jaime from ''The Devil's Backbone'' as some of the rebels, [[spoiler: who get shot to death during Mercedes' escape]]. So not only ''The Devil's Backbone'' is the film's spiritual prequel, but they exist in the same universe. So it would make sense that when it leaves DevelopmentHell, ''36/63'' will follow that up with the survivors of that film. Even more so considering the small , but still unanswered questions at the end regarding the fates of the rebels and Ofelia's baby brother. Sure it's clear that it's most likely Mercedes and her brother raising them, but also keep in mind that Francoism didn't end until '''1975''' almost twenty years after the film takes place. So that leaves the fate of Ofelia's brother even more ambiguous, as in if he was raised by the rebels and joins the cause at age or were the rebels captured and executed and the baby adopted by a new family. Either way, he would have no idea about his biological (or possibly adoptive) family. Hell, maybe that could be a twist ending for one of the characters especially if the latter option is taken. But the only way to find out is to wait for 36/63 to come out and hopefully not be canceled.
