When he retired from swiping, Swiper's father wanted someone to follow in his footsteps and carry on the thieving tradition, so he named his newborn son Swiper and taught him how to swipe random possessions from people, which might explain baby Swiper's theft of the other babies' presents in "[[Recap/DoraTheExplorerS5E2324DorasChristmasCarolAdventure Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure]]". However, deep down, Swiper was actually friendly when he was born and wanted to make friends, but his father was much meaner and more unconcerned about whoever he's swiping from than he ever was, and punished his son whenever he did not go through with his wishes.
