When he retired from swiping, Swiper's father wanted someone to follow in his footsteps and carry on the thieving tradition, so he named his newborn son Swiper and taught him how to swipe random possessions from people, which might explain baby Swiper's theft of the other babies' presents in "[[Recap/DoraTheExplorerS5E2324DorasChristmasCarolAdventure Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure]]". However, deep down, Swiper was actually friendly when he was born and wanted to make friends, but his father was much meaner and more unconcerned about whoever he's swiping from than he ever was, and punished his son whenever he did not go through with his wishes. Eventually, when Swiper grew up, his father died, telling him on his deathbed to keep up the swiping tradition for as long as he lives. Today, Swiper swipes stuff on people not because he loves doing so, but to avoid disappointing his recently-deceased father. But, with his father no longer alive to punish him for his mistakes, Swiper is now free to bring out his nicer, friendlier side every once in a while without fear and even hang out with the rest of the rainforest's inhabitants.

* Debunked in the aptly-titled episode "Rainforest Reunion", where the preteen Dora meets up with her old friends from the rainforest again, and they are as every bit as real and existent.

This is why he's such a kleptomaniac, but also has to give things back if Dora says "Swiper, No Swiping" three times. He was pumped up to some semblance of human-child-level knowledge -- probably by whoever taught Boots to talk, but with less effectiveness in the "sentience" area. He was cadence-trained to drop whatever he's doing and run away if he hears a certain series of syllables; hence, Dora has to say it the same way every episode. His "Oh, maaan!" reaction is because he has to go run away against his will more than that he was caught in the first place. He ''has'' to steal from them, just like he ''has'' to drop it and run away if they Swiper No Swipe him properly.

[[WMG: A possible theory on how the baby fox in "Swiper the Explorer" got lost]]
One day, the baby fox was playing happily outside his fox hole while his parents looked on and supervised him. Suddenly, he saw a butterfly that fluttered around in the air, and letting his curiosity get the better of him, he chased the butterfly throughout a very long distance, not knowing that he was about to get lost. Panicked at this, the fox parents tried to call out to their son to get his attention, but he couldn't hear them since he was too distracted by the butterfly and was far away from them. In his pursuit of the butterfly, he passed through the forest of prickers and thorns and the bouncy ball volcano until he finally caught the butterfly in a field and then let it go. However, when he looked around, he noticed that his fox hole was nowhere in sight and finally realized what had happened. Continuing to observe his surroundings, the baby fox called out for his mother before finally breaking down in tears and solemnly going inside a nearby bush, setting the plot of the episode in motion.

* Specials such as Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom are examples of times she escapes the Dora game and discovers a new program or file on the computer. Usually, in the end Dora, when defeats the villain, the villain, although looking defeated, will usually cast a spell on Dora and send her back to her own program. Now Dora will continue looking for another thing that will help her travel to another program. This will last until the next special.

* In each episode, Dora travells to different places for different reasons. At least that's what most people think. The real reason is because she is looking for something that will help her escape the computer game and conquer the rest of the computer.

Dora is a 25 year old high Brazilian orphan, who's so high she thinks the animals talk and that her parents are still alive. Diego is a abusive drug lord who beats Dora regularly. Boots is just a rabid monkey, who a high Dora thinks is her best friend, and map is the role of paper in which she snorts various drugs with. Swiper is actually a member of the police who is working for Diego. Swiper knows which 'bitches' to arrest depending on who are with Diego. The code phrase is 'Swiper no swiping!'

It explains why she can't see ''things that are three feet away from her.'' She's not treating the viewers like morons - she desperately needs their help. She goes through dangerous obstacles because the map is a bitch and wants to fuck with the blind kid. Boots is essentially her seeing eye pet, but is still rather young and untrained. Her parents are either neglecting her or let her go out because they want to be politically correct and independant.

They both have talking animal and represent ethnic minorities and teach small children bits of their language. Also, Kai-Lan will become TheSixthRanger in The Explorer Girls's FiveTokenBand since they need an Asian to complete it.

This explains his kleptomania. Unfortunately, his inventory spots are filled with [[VendorTrash vendor trash]] so he just throws what he takes into the bushes.
