:Gunthro ''did'' clear out King Dugan's Dungeon once. At the end of his own exploration of the dungeon, Beethro says that it was originally nine levels deep, but when Gunthro explored it, it was fifteen levels deep. Since the access to Rooted Hold is on the tenth level, it may have existed in Gunthro's time but he just failed to find it.

[[WMG: The True Court of Rasuras knew about the poorly-hidden access below King Dugan's castle]]
When they exile Gunthro from Rasuras and pay for passage to Ephelna, they ''specifically'' recommend Dugandy as a place for him to settle. It's rather middle-of-nowhere, yes, but it's not like he could have done much damage from Blorn, or even Mellenfral. Why? Simple: Gunthro had proven himself an extremely competent smitemaster, and they wanted him (or, as actually happened, his descendant) to go down King Dugan's Dungeon.
