We know for certain that he doesn't marry Caroline, since ''VideoGame/CurseCrackersForWhomTheBelleToils'' reveals that she married Hugh, and it's unlikely that he married River since she seems to be on her own in the upcoming game ''Howling Crown''.

The end of ''Prodigal'' tells us that the King of Ashford was killed by an assassin clothed in shadow, and that his death led to Revulan taking over the kingdom. It also tells us that Oran travelled south in order to fulfil his contract with Crocodile, who is working with Revulan, and he is associated with shadows, both through Shadow Oran and the Dread Hand, which is a part of Veritus, the shadow god. Therefore, it's very likely that Oran had to assassinate the king as part of the contract. Revulan at one point even brings the contract up and says that she'll have him get another crown for her.

Alternatively, the contract could have indeed involved the king's assassination, but Oran merely assisted the actual killer by using his Hand.

Isn't it a bit odd that after wounding Kir Hasa, Crocodile had that contract ready for Oran to sign? And that he didn't mind losing the Ora Moa, which he kept heavily guarded in the back room while he had a fake on display? If you gain access to the VIP lounge, you meet Aura, someone who has known him for a while and is said to have visions of the future. She might have told Crocodile about Oran and how powerful he would become, and that he would one day try to take the Ora Moa from him, leading to him attacking anyone else who tried to steal it. In fact, he might have even stolen it in the first place knowing that Kir Hasa would try to get it first, and then wounded her to make her desperate enough to ask Oran to get it for her instead.

He is the one who gave him the key to the Castle Vann Crypt where the Eye of Veritus was being kept, and that was much more heavily guarded than the Hand, which was found in an ordinary chest. The people at the Dawn Carnival also call him an "abomination" and claim that the jack-in-the-box that they're making Belle fight is the same kind of thing he is - maybe all Magic Eaters take the form of sentient objects?
