* And even if it would somehow defeat Joker if Batman just upped and left (which, as noted above, is unlikely), let's face it -- Batman's not just going to leave and let the Joker run around and do whatever the hell he wants on Arkham Island, even if he does give up eventually. That would probably mean innocent people would end up dying and suffering, and as long as he's around he can protect them.

[[WMG: Batman keeps down crime in Gotham City partly through brutal, but efficient, birth control]] Well, many of the thugs he meets in this game probably won't be having kids in future after his bone-shattering crotch kicks, and children raised by criminals are statistically much more likely to become criminals themselves.

[[WMG: The various ShoutOuts/MythologyGags will mean that they will be in the sequel.]]
* The reference to Firefly's exploits say that he's at large in Gotham. As the sequel takes place in Gotham...
* Ra's 's body disappears.
* Two Face is robbing a bank.
* Joker released Scarface
* Injustice Gang is back according to the same paper that references Firefly.
* Mad Hatter has a display set up in the Gardens, implying that he's free, but doesn't show up in the game
* Mr. Freeze escaped before the time the game takes place.

[[WMG: Part of the game will follow Gordon.]]
Hey, the first game mixed things up immensely, why not have a section where the player has to pull a completely different playstyle by forcing them to play as Commisioner Gordon?
* Third person thug killing? YAY!!!!
* Maybe it will follow [[HalfLife a different Gordon]].
* What do you mean "forcing them to play as Commissioner Gordon"? I'd willingly play an entire game about [[BadassNormal Gordon.]]
* Alternatively, seeing that the game is set in Gotham proper, you could play as Robin and Batgirl on occasion. This troper would be thrilled to see Cassandra Cain's version of Batgirl in the game.
** Judging by the fact that Oracle is heard in the first... I would say Joker has already crippled Barb. Batgirl is now Oracle.
*** Which means Cassandra Cain or possibly Stephanie Brown (unlikely since she started as Batgirl since Bruce died) is batgirl.
* If I were one of the Dev's, I would totally make a side level where you do this. Only all Gordon does is deal with paper work in it.
** I'm incredibly thankful you're not a game developer then...
* I think it's just too dark to have us playing as Robin... then again... I'm imagining what he would like like. It would be hard to pull off, but if they can do it well, it would be awesome.
** If you think Robin couldn't fit in the ''Arkham Asylum'' setting, you haven't kept up with his comic book. Just because he has red and yellow in his costume doesn't mean he can't be badass.
** Catwoman, me-wow!

[[WMG:[[spoiler: Dr. Young]] will be a villain in the sequel.]]
Sadistic plans GoneHorriblyWrong, multiple threats from assorted psychopaths, access to money, science background, what's preventing [[spoiler: her]] from completely snapping?
* [[spoiler: The fact that she's dead.]]
** [[spoiler: Ra's Al Ghul. Lazarus. Pit.]]

[[WMG:[[spoiler: Mayor Sharp's plan in the sequel is to blow up/gas/burn/or otherwise kill everyone in Arkham City.]] ]]

[[WMG: The Joker will die for real in Arkham City.]]
As I've heard, Mark Hamill is going to retire from the role of the Joker after this game. In the trailer he seems seriously sick. Perhaps his part of the plot revolves around how he's dying, and planning to take the city with him.
That's pretty much his thing.
* Kevin Conroy compared the tone to Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker. Now, perhaps he was giving us a hint as to what the Joker is planing.
* [[FridgeHorror Oh God!]] The Joker's gonna torture Tim Drake again!
** Somehow, I think Joker's going to finish what [[TheKillingJoke he started with Barbara]]... She has been kidnapped prior to the sequel and it's why [[ServileSnarker Alfred]] has taken over. [[spoiler: And not only would torturing a cripple is just as bad, if not worse then torturing a child, it hasn’t been done.]]

[[WMG: [[TimeyWimeyBall Time Travel Twist]]: In Arkham City Batman will team up with [[BatmanBeyond Batman]].]]
Future!Batman will be pursuing a future villain who travels back in time to make sure Present!Batman dies in Arkham City. The two Batmen meet and after the standard LetsYouAndHimFight scenario ends they team up to make sure Present!Batman makes it though the game alive. During the team up Future!Batman tries to [[ShipperOnDeck ship]] Present!Batman with Catwoman too make him happier and less bitter in the future.

[[WMG: Mad Hatter will feature prominently in the sequel.]]
They've played the Scarecrow card once already, but Mad Hatter is also capable of warping what you think you know, through his mind control. This could make for some very wonky levels indeed.

** You mean the mooks that killed most of the guards and took over the place in the opening? And the guard that Zsasz ''took hostage and nearly killed'' right at the start? Yeah, those guards did a ''stellar'' job of handling those "stupid" mooks. The Joker didn't take over the place single-handedly, you know. Joker being off his "A game" if that's even what would happen, isn't an InstantWinCondition.

[[WMG: [[strike:Warden]] Mayor Sharp is actually possessed.]]
* While the first game never out right said it, me thinks that ol' Sharpie was, and still is possessed by the ghost of Amadeus Arkham. It's obvious that the first half of the tablets were from Arkham, with the later ones eventually being from the Warden. Much like Deadman, only evil, Arkham is using Sharp to carry out his desire of ''cleansing'' Gotham of it's evil. This would also explain why in the Spirit tablets Sharp is cold and sadistic sounding, but during the game comes off as a coward who fears for his life (of course, he could just be playing the part). This would also explain how he dissappeared from the island and why the runic symbols were on the floor.

And don't forget about all the innocent people on the island. Guards, doctors, police officers, legitimately sick people who aren't supervillains? They'll all be ''perfectly fine'' on the isolated island filled with murderers, thugs, and superpowered freaks, I'm sure.

** Batman never gives up, so we don't know how Joker would react to it... (I think) For all we know he would take it designing to go into opera sinning. Besides he is nutsnuts.
** "He is nuts" doesn't mean he's entirely without any sort of rhyme or reason. He's ''obsessed with Batman''. If Batman just left, he'd take it most likely as a personal insult. Given that he has ''complete control over everything in Arkham'', he could still very easily complete the formula, and go after Batman instead. The Joker doesn't just "give up" if one bit of his plan doesn't go exactly as he thought it would.\\\
And that's the other thing. The Joker controls Arkham, all the inmates are freed, and some of them are superpowered psychopaths. Even in the ''extremely'' unlikely event that the Joker does just "give up", do you really think everyone else is just going to go, "Oh, sorry to be a bother, I'll just go back into my cell now."\\\
And don't forget about all the innocent people on the island. Guards, doctors, police officers, legitimately sick people who aren't supervillains? They'll all be ''perfectly fine'' on the isolated island filled with murderers, thugs, and superpowered freaks, I'm sure.

** Not the way I see it for one of two reasons 1) Joker wanted Batman to go Crazy so if Batman would not play along Joker would give up. 2) Joker would be so confused he ends up standing out in the open and getting clobbered.
