Perhaps the entity that is Eywa saw the potential value in such an "ambassador" body, and decided to induce Grace's Avatar body to make one of her own.

What better way for these old foes, each BackFromTheDead in their own way, to have one final confrontation with each other? Of course, as opposed to their earlier clashes in the physical world, this time Grace will have all the power. (The only question, of course, is what could prompt Quaritch to make communion with Eywa in the first place.)
